Frenkie is not stupid. He just wants this wage thing resolved and rightly so. I hope he sticks to his guns. feck Barca.

@mazhar13 Can back me up that Sport are genuinely not a proven reliable source regardless of whether people want to believe them or not
I can concur. Sport, in general, are terrible, even if they are Barcelona's mouthpiece in some part. Their only two reliable journalists are Joaquim Piera and Ferran Correas.

Damn but how bad must it feel that a top player is having to literally be dragged away from his club to join us. Should light a fire under the arses of the players. United needs to be desirable again.
Not necessarily a reflection of our undesirability, maybe more that Barca is the club he's fancied since childhood, he likely enjoys the lifestyle, climate etc (who wouldn't)...AND the small matter of £17M...probably he wouldn't want to leave Barca for any other club right now.

Tomorrow apparently.
Thank you

Now that Barca have agreed the fee and need the money, I’d be a little surprised if he went on the tour as they need to keep him fit. And a quick sale will be much harder if he’s on tour

This is what a transfer would look like if tapping up was never a thing

Tapping up, those were the days. It was like the most illegal thing in for football for about two seasons and then suddenly it was just universally accepted that everyone was doing it and no one really gave a feck.

I have always thought 'The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly' was beautiful to look at but painfully slow in its pacing, espcially the standoff scene. That interminable film was about two hours long. This saga just won't end at all.

I would say that "suddenly" happened around the time Whatsapp became a thing.

pretty sure the "doesn't want to leave" thing is all about the deferred wages. I mean, they've done everything but drive him to the airport himself at this point.

Feel bad for him. Barca is his dreamclub, he always treated the club with respect even agreed to have a temporary pay cut to help out the club. And as return they are treating him as dogshit. Must be heartbroken

Agreed. He doesn't want to leave until he knows he isn't going to be ripped off to the tune of 17m.

De Jong has said time and time again he has no intention of joining us. Why do some still refuse to believe it?

he’s not coming and never has been:lol:

Absolutely ridiculous we haven't agreed personal terms with him first.

I think some club ask him to wait before taking any decision. Otherwise it's beyond ridiculous to refuse to join one of biggest clubs in the world.

I can fully understand him wanting the money he is owed before he leaves. Barca owe their players almost 400m in deffered wages and the minute he leveas he will be last in line to collect. Barca will of course look after their own players first and foremost before paying anyone that has left.

Red said it best. He's institutionalised. Imprisoned, fed water and bread, paid by the hour to wash linen and darn socks.

Doesn't stop people dreaming. I mean, many thought Haaland would be willing to join us. His family hates United including Erling.

Spanish journalist are not even reporting about deferred wage. Its mostly done by English journalist. FDJ is refusing to leave but they are purposely leasing out this detail

Man's got Stockholm Syndrome.

At least this will be over either way soon. But he's not going without his cash.

No doubt in my mind that De Jong’s refusal to leave is a game he’s playing with Barcelona in order to secure what he’s owed. If he’s seen to be already in the departure lounge with suitcase in tow, he’d have no bargaining power.

It’s all a ploy, people just need to be patient.

How many more pages of his 'intention to stay' till it's done dealio, I'd say 100 more

Just when people were bigging him up again  one negative tweet and he's useless again
It's not the negativity at all. He just keeps repeating the same thing over and over. He should provide an update when he has one. Negative or not.

The way it's been dragging on even with official sources confirming a fee had been agreed, it's obvious the hold up is on the player's side. Now there are two possibilites why he is reluctant:

1. he wants to make completely sure Barca will give him the money he is owed and thus is refusing to comply as long as barca are not offering him transparency on that. It probably is not only about the money, it's about principles. It's nothing to do with United, they know it and are waiting for de Jong to sort this with Barca. The deal will eventually go through.
2. United have really not done their homework and he's just not into us.

Yes, and if it is the second option, this will be an epic meltdown with our pants pulled down. Hopefully we will never do another transfer before agreeing terms with the player first.

This is exactly why I think Romano is an absolute bellend. He basically tweets two contrasting stories each day and then when one obviously comes true people act like he’s the oracle.

He's just playing the money game, deep down he really hates Barca, and can't wait to join up with ETH again, the fact he's at United is the icing on the cake.
