What’s all this de Jong chat doing in the Pearl Jam thread?
No, he just offered to pay it in installments.I’ll bet any money Laporta walked out without leaving a tip
HeyoooooNo, he just offered to pay it in installments.
Such an excellent post, Pearl Jam fan. This is the highlight of the thread so far.I’m off to London tomorrow to start 7 shows following Pearl Jam for the next 3 weeks in Europe and I’ll be amazed if this is concluded by then..would be nice after the comedown of a tour finishing to hear we’ve actually signed him as I seriously cannot comprehend another season of McFred, but I’m not holding out any hope.
The most worrying thing is not his signing as such, but what ETH will make of it if it doesn’t come off.. really excited about what the new boss will bring and believe he’s the manager we need to reset the club….but.. just pray he gets what he asked for
I know soon you'll sign with United
I know you'll be a star
In Erik Ten Hag's sky
But why
Why
Why can't it be
Oh can't it be 89
didn't they end up being Christ and his disciples, or something religious like that? I wonder which of our players would be which disciple...Just like the series Lost this started out really interesting and amazing - but now they keep adding new twists every week and I just want it to end.

issue is he is owed money and Barca do not want to give him what he is owed, that is the biggest issue.Barcelona's game here is pretty evident. They realise they messed up by giving FdJ the contract they did to sign him to beat off the competition from PSG and are trying to force him to accept a pay cut, and are using us as a pawn to do that. They won't mind keeping him on reduced wages, but won't mind selling him either if he refuses to take a paycut. I would normally have wanted us to walk away from this but this guy is what our manager has earmarked as essential to his plans so we need to at least give it a good shot. In any case, this whole thing stopped being interesting about 2-3 weeks ago, and I wish this would just end one way or the other soon.
Or we have agreed a fee, so can allocate money elsewhere while we let the shenanigans play out. It’s mad how de Jong was the first signing we wanted to make but we’re on course to sign at least 2 players before him. Think we realised that this one’s going to take longer then we thought so we may aswell grab our other targets.
OK, today we are leaving on a pre-season, so here's some points in anger in frustration:
1. De Jong is good, but he is no Zidane, Pirlo, etc. There are other options out there.
2. De Jong is considered to be essential to what it's like totally absolute new philosophy, style and way of playing. The PL starts in less than a month now. I don't want to see Fred, McTominay, Bruno, Martial etc. who doesn't' know what to do in pressing and creating (see Rangnick's tenure...)
3. Not last - De Jong said with his own lips that Barca is best club and he wants to stay. Not a twitter fraud. He said that! And he could just leave "No comment" and that's it. Why are we begging more than 70 days for a princess, that would not even say our name, if her father (aka Barcelona) wasn't broke?
I say: Call back the negotiators from Barcelona and find a replacement, and get it done in 72 hours. No, this could happen - see Thiago to Bayern, even Martial and Falcao to us and many more.
If we want to start the new season prepared for a first time in a decade - this is the only way!
We are not looking to even replace Greenwood and Cavani yet you think the club will be bother to replace Ronaldo with anyone.
I'd be pretty pissed off with Barcelona re: owed wages and want to leave. He does not seem to want to. Are we placing all our eggs in one basket? Should we not just walk away and find another target?
Just leave the deal until july 30. They will come back begging. They are forced to pay him 18m euros this year.De Jong, Lewandowski and Raphinha: The devil at Barcelona is in the financial detail
The next big date in Barca’s summer is July 16, when the team fly out to the US for their summer pre-season games against Inter Miami in Miami, Madrid in Vegas, Juventus in Dallas and New York Red Bulls in New Jersey.
If De Jong makes the plane, it would suggest he has succeeded in holding firm against being forced out. If Lewandowski or Raphinha are on board, it could mean the TV rights lever has been activated again, and Xavi really will have a significantly strengthened squad for the coming season. The presence of other players with uncertain futures, such as Dest, Depay and young midfielder Nico Gonzalez, could also be significant.
Experience suggests that nothing is likely to happen quite so quickly at Barca.
Another important date is July 12, when Lewandowski is due to report for pre-season with Bayern.
July 30 is a deadline Barca have set themselves to provide a financial update to La Liga regarding next season’s salary limit.
Yeah, looks like he might very much be one of the "throw a lot of shit and the wall and see what sticks" type journalists. Unfortunate but I remain somewhat hopeful that this will (eventually) get done.On this, @Mmm-Qatarian, notice how Simon Jones mentions Sergiño Dest as one of the names on the table despite this actually not being the case according to the more reliable journalists.
You going? What’s all this de Jong chat doing in the Pearl Jam thread?
He said that but almost all players say that about their clubs until they leave, only in rare situations a player under contract would say he wants to leave.
Maybe we should give up on this deal and go for Ruben Neves.
