Bruno as a wide attacker is a concept I could get behind.
Wait what?Well I think it's a bit funny how Gerard Romero said it last night and now the British media is catching up saying we are after him.
Now Romero is saying it's nearly done and he'll be a United player and ETHs first signing, got to wait a couple days for the British media to catch up.
Yes and I answered this with Tchouameni/Rice/Mukiele.The poster asked:
‘’Who is his ideal partner that's not at the club already? His double pivot partner?’’
You need to understand what De Jong role at Ajax then. His role is like Libero where he will be the deepest one to get the ball and he will get a license to roam forward to carry the ball forward. In this sense, you want to pair him with someone who sits when De Jong decides to carry the ball forward because who's going to occupy his spot if he decides to do so? Fred at best shouldn't be used more in our half, Fred is a no 8 and the more he involves near the opposition half, the better.
Would it work? He can't dribble and gets shoved off the ball easily, he'd just be coming inside and picking passes.Bruno as a wide attacker is a concept I could get behind.

Romero updated everyone in his podcast this morning saying Barca and Xavi have come to an agreement to sell Frenkie and he will be ETHs first signing.Wait what?
So what's up with him at Barca then? Why does he want to leave? Or more importantly, why would Barca sell him if he's so good (which I think he is, by the way).
Sorry, I've been burnt too many times by getting excited over transfers.
Answers a question I never asked.
In short I’m aware of how he plays. I’m aware of our DM need for an ETH system. I’m merely pointing out this won’t be a guaranteed success given his development since Ajax.

This is like a heist movie now; De jong on a beach somewhere, Ten Hag wearing a white linen shirt and a Panama hat.
"You're a hard man to find"
"I keep it that way, what do you want"
"Im putting the gang back together...for one last job"
"What are we stealing"
"A treble"
Ducker's article says City have ruled themselves outIt's not gonna happen, as great as it would be. If he's going anywhere, it'll be to Man City (which actually makes sense for them). I don't see Ten Hag being enough of a lure for him to join us in the Europa League over joining Pep and the CL where he'll always compete at the top. It is what it is.
The fact he broke the news and now others are starting to gradually fall into line with stories about there being contact certainly suggests so. It has always made sense that Barca would be open to selling if they needed funds and with the fee/wage package there are only 3 clubs he could join realistically. City, PSG and us. It really isn’t that far fetched at all.Starting to feel like Romero might be right and rest of the journos are gonna slowly change their tune throughout the day as they start to get actually information.
ESPN desperately want us to believe city are involved. All the spanish sources say they aren't clickbait wankers
Because Barca are skint and he's one of few sellable assets that they have
City are looking for a Fernandinho replacement, De Jong was linked when Bernardo wanted to leave but it seems as if Bernardo is getting a new contract. Maybe a City fan can confirm.Ducker's article says City have ruled themselves out

Pep is never tired of midfielders. He will move Rodri to defence and play FDJ. Hopefully, they stay away.City are looking for a Fernandinho replacement, De Jong was linked when Bernardo wanted to leave but it seems as if Bernardo is getting a new contract. Maybe a City fan can confirm.
Also De Jong and VDB have the same agent...
He plays CM or wingback. Can do either as he's got great stamina.
ESPN should be a banned source.

Would love him here. Going from watching McFred trying to pass the ball to Frenkie would be the biggest upgrade in a position we've seen in a long time.

To summarise.
I think the only real thing that points in our favour are that his high wages and the high transfer fee may put off other clubs. His wages are reportedly £200k a week after tax which would be roughly £365k per week before tax in the UK. At most top sides that's either towards the higher end of the wage structure (e.g. DDG and KDB) or above their wage structure (e.g. Liverpool or Arsenal).
- De Jong would prefer to stay at Barca but if they try to force him out he'll make a move but preferably to a CL side
- Barca have enough players in midfield that they could manage without him given the likes of Gavi and Pedri coming through and Kessie signing on a free
- Barca need the money, he has 2 years left on his contract and he's one of the only players they could get decent money for (excluding the la masia prospects)
- City have distanced themselves from a move
- United are interested but he'd need convincing to go to a side in either the Europa or Conference league
If he doesn't want to lower his wage demands significantly then we might be his only choice as I doubt Bayern would match it, Juve won't be able to afford it (and could just sign Pogba on a free instead) and possibly even PSG may not be keen if they give Mpabbe a crazy renewal.
