That’s weird yesterday’s was AN4 1LY and I woke up sore this morning. Might be something in this.
Is that Murtough lying on the floor behind them after another long day of negotiations?
Usually you get the ok very early, before a fee is agreedYou would need permission from Barca to do such a thing. There has probably been a brief conversation with the agent of what is expected but officially they can’t talk to him about a contract until Barca say it’s ok.
A new article came out this morning explaining the details of De Jong's Barcelona contract and the numbers are MASSIVE.
There's no chance in hell he's walking away from the money he's in line for and it's not realistic for him to take a 40-50% cut.
Paying the new earnings alongside the differed wages wouldn't be an option for Barca, they'll want to get him off their wage bill, and then sort out an agreement for the differed wages.Honestly I'd be surprised if this one happens. Barca owe him so much money by the sounds of it that, if they sold him, the majority of his fee would go to him. With that in mind, he's going to be reluctant to walk away and, if Barca can get these investments sorted, they'd be better off keeping him and paying the money owed over the next few years rather than a lump sum.
Unless I'm misunderstanding the situation?

Only a fool would accept such terms, Romano said a reduced wage isn't an option. They would be in a position to negotiate with him to see if he'd accept a reduction if he stays. Which is what Laporte said the other day and makes sense.
And Fabrizio has said a pay cut is a very unlikely option for FDJ and rightfully so. A reduction after a deferral just doesn't seem realistic for ANY employee let alone a multi millionaire athleteThey would be in a position to negotiate with him to see if he'd accept a reduction if he stays. Which is what Laporte said the other day and makes sense.

Surely, if he leaves this summer, Barca still owe him 12m + his loyalty bonus..
No wonder he wont push for a move.. he has a lot to lose..
Barca want him gone, but clearly are trying to save whatever money they can get..
They owe Ajax for the transfer, the owe the player around 25m and his agent some money.. If they are in financial trouble, this isnt helping, at all..
Outside the FDJ transfer, more boardly, they need to stop papering over the cracks.. take the hit.. rebuild.. La liga isnt as competitive for the top 4 as the league.. they can rebuild for a couple of seasons and still make the the CL revenue..
Because I'd imagine a few don't want it to happen as they're under the impression that he doesn't want to play for us so won't be committed and won't give 100%.The whole Barca media narrative is being set so blatantly and people still want to pour cold water in the obvious reality.
I really don't understand why he seems to be so loyal to Barca. They are a shadow of their former self, like we are. Their fans seem to be divided when it comes to de Jong, some want him to stay while others think he is overrated and has not really set the world on fire since joining them. Also Xavi's system does not suit him while he could be pivotal in ten Hag's new United team.
The only thing they can offer we cannot is CL football this season, which is a given for them playing in La Liga.
Or maybe he isn't so loyal and just being clever, this puts him in good position regarding negotiations with both clubs.I really don't understand why he seems to be so loyal to Barca. Yeh I remember that alright! So disappointingI’ll never forget Woodward flying back from a tour to complete a transfer that never happened.. think it was Kroos at the time

Always take care of blind faith. It usually smells of naivety. We have been in this position before historically and been played. Take the Cesc Fabregas saga to name but one. Same very public chase for a Barcelona midfielder that ended with the Spaniard staying put and we ended up panic-buying Fellaini. You are right... words mean little in transfers, but there is absolutely no chance we'd spend 2 months chasing someone, then agreeing a fee with the club if the player had absolutely no intention of joining us.
ETH will have had discussions with de Jong and he's have recievied enough assurances for us to continue with the transfer. If he was to bottle it, he'd have told us and we'd have briefed that we've walked away. ETH must be absolutely certain that personal terms aren't a problem and that he has a desire to join us and be the main man

There's no reason Barca can't continue to pay him his deferred wages after signing for United, we do that when we subsidize wages after moving a player on.
If he stays he also becomes a scapegoat for the Catalan Media(they scapegoated Suarez when he was refusing to leave FDJ is a nobody)and fans if his presence and salary prevents additional signings and player registrations. He is on a huge contract. He wouldn't necessarily improve his financial compensation by moving to United compared to staying at Barca even if he'd agree to reducing his salary, which he doesn't have to do in the first place. United are not in the CL and its still remains to be seen if ETH can sort out the mess. FdJ is 25 and has a contract till 2026. Its not now or never for him. He could easily wait for another year to see how United is developing. Barca might not like it, but they can't do much about it. He seems to have a good relationship the Xavi and we have already seen that Laporta's threats are empty. If he stays, he is going to play regularly.
Yeah, having to get rid of Messi and asking the rest of the squad to take a cut would be "understandable" if they weren't signing players left right and center (Christensen, Kessie, on top Auba, Traore, Torres etc. mid season).think what's holding the deal up is his agent negotiating the money he's due to be paid. No way he'll write all that off when they're openly registering new players, trying to sign Raphina and Lewandowski for big money/wages.
How they think they can get away with it is mind boggling! why the feck would any player want to go there when they treat players like this
Back up plan? Come on, I'm just getting used to having a plan at all.Hope we have a back up plan if FDJ doesn't sign.
(We probably don't have a back up plan in all honesty)
You're over thinking it a bit, Barca have already agreed an initial fee with us and still negotiating add ons, if they wanted to keep him they wouldn't do that at least not before exhausting every other possibility, its really just a matter of time. It'll be a test of how much he wants to stay, for sure. A few of their other players have renegotiated a lower salary, so I don't think it's out of the question. It'll all depend on the numbers at the end of the day and how much of a reduction he will have to take. From the reports (although Romano says we've not agreed a salary) he will be taking a wage reduction to move here anyway, as his salary is subsidised by Nike.
