And funnily enough the period following 2010 has been our most miserable for several decades.

Maybe signing players in the month of June doesn't actually have an impact on whether or not you have a successful season?

I agree but we can also say that we have been through the most protracted summer transfer period till now.
We have been associated with more than a hundred players and funnily enough, after all the close and closer etc, we have still signed nobody - let this sink in.

Last legit rumor I read was that we were working on personal terms with FDJ. I assume this takes time because image rights, he wears Nike shoes etc.

Has the fee been agreed with Barca? Or are they still haggling on the add-ons on top of 65M fixed?

We are not in for a hundred players, maybe five and monitoring a few more.

Relax for a couple weeks and things will look different.

he is also said: Hope is a waking dream :)

Popped into the Barca forum to gauge thier view on FDJ over the last 3 years. From what I've read there is a 90% unfavorable rating. General view is he just doesn't fit the Barca style. Goes missing for large chunks of the game.

Clearly a player for us then :)

How many players from 2019 Ajax team have kicked on ?
matthijs de ligt - struggled at Juve who are looking to sell him
FDJ - struggled to find his best position with Barca looking to sell him
Donny - back up player at best loaned out to relegation battlers Everton where he also found it hard
hakim ziyech - unable to find regular playing time at Chelsea who are also looking to sell him

Is it just a coincidence that all the key players from that team have struggled to kick on ? Or have we struck gold and Erik Ten Hag is a once in a generation coach ?
I used to go into the Barca forum quite regularly in 21 and it was humorous the amount of distain certain players had from their community.
De Jong was certainly one of them. They generally just did not rate him in the end.
Now we're ,not only potentially signing him, but building the bedrock of Hag's United's future team around.

Oh i'm very relaxed but keep in mind that Spurs have signed 6 players, Liverpool and City have done their business too, Arsenal a couple of signings, Newcastle building a strong team etc etc - and where are we? Does it have to be like this?

It will take them a season to acclimatise, don't stress!

Yes but none of those clubs' managers are new to the club. They all know exactly what they require in terms of strengths and weaknesses.

You can bet that ETH and the transfer team will be a lot quicker the following seasons -- if ETH lasts.

Yes, I think so. New manager, and we are going after a big target who is at a big club,
which makes it complicated.

To not get taken to the cleaners all the time, a more patient approach is necessary.

We need to get to a place where we can plan ahead, like City and Liverpool seem to do. That takes stability in the management, which we have not had in the last 8 years.

Newcastle are seemingly buying whomever they can get, that‘s not team building. We are after specific targets that will fit our playstyle. For example, Botman was bought by Newcastle but would not fit here.

So far the targets we are in for, make perfect sense.

First time since 2010 that United have not signed any player in the month of June.

In our worst Premier League season of All-Time

Yet some people find this acceptable?! Sorry but it's not. Standards on the floor.

Roy Keane would be going in two-footed against the club if this happened in his day.

Not saying Erik Ten Hag is another puppet but we shall see at the end of the transfer window what the Net spend is (it'll be clear for everyone to see), if it's below £120M he's another puppet. And the Poch-Brigade lives on. And I wanted Erik Ten Hag but you don't watch last season and sign a contract if you don't have guarantees in the contract for the budget.

I think the main reason United don’t sign players before 1July is because the owners want the outlay to show in the following year’s accounts rather than the year ending 30 June. This is regardless of what players they may miss out on or the fact that other clubs can steal a march on us for the new season planning. Obviously, the lack of spending on the books at that time will, on paper, maximise year end profits and, presumably, increase dividend payments to the water rats that own this place. Another example of United being a commercial enterprise above all else. I never expect signings until after 1 July.

Next week then. He will fly straight from Mexico to London/Manchester. He has emptied his things in Barcelona anyway, so no need to go back there

The season starts at the same time for all of us, whether we sign 6 now or 3 later. There is still time. We will be grand, we have a man with a plan now.

Budget -- may have to pay the other agent separately? Maybe the current agent was getting a twofer -- FdJ and Tyrell agent's fee in a lump sum?
How much do we think the agent gets out of a 15m euro transfer for a backup LB?
Hardly an issue.. it might be an annoyance and might delay things by a few days.

Everything has to be dramatic for these journalists .clickbait everything

A couple of million? They could tell United that In can get you a price of 15 million and guarantee that Tyrell signs for you but you need to pay me XXX.

Liverpool paid like £22million in agents fees in the past 12 months. And they are a bigger draw.

We paid nearly 30million that season.

But 'the man with the plan' wants his players early so he may mould them into his system/tactics.
