I am still taking precaution until we have all parties agreeing terms.

But I have some questions :

Who can play alongside him and provide a very good duo behind Bruno?

Will FDG play deep lying midfielder, or more like a 8 ?

Are we thinking having FDG+1 this season (Fred, Mc To, VDB) ? which seems low in quality.

Or are we hoping to add someone like Rice next year ? which may be a very good duo.

He will be the deepest lying midfielder. Will drop deep in between the CBs to pick up the ball and help with build up play. Will also use his dribbling ability to drive the ball through midfield and link our midfield and defense to attack.

Gosh, I’m these online reliability debates every summer are so grating.

The article is by Patrick Berger, I thought he was semi okay?
Both he and Sport1 are great, overall. There's nothing wrong with what Berger reported, too, especially since we've known about Frenkie's desire to stay at Barcelona for a long while. This doesn't mean that he'll make United's life difficult, of course, especially if Ten Hag has convinced him.

Spanish media are so insecure how the status of Spanish clubs in comparison to English clubs. Remember when Marca were photoshopping the crowd to make it look like there were more Madrid fans? I recall they changed a sea of red shirts into white

He loves us, he hates us, £69million fee agreed, he loves us, he hates us, deal is 89.74% complete, he hates us, he hates us, he hates us.

Has anyone considered the possibility that these journos (yes, all of them) have no idea what's going on regarding this transfer because they're not privy to the discussion involving both clubs, so they're simply making it up as they go along?

and do you know why is Barca having FFP issues, while United does not have such issues?

Why is La Liga imposing a negative 144m euros on spending for Barcelona?

I think you know why, so, let's not act like Barcelona did not post losses of 481 million euros in 2020/2021, let's not act like Barcelona does not have a looming net debt of 1.3B in debts, even with "economic levers", Barca is still in deep deep waters, Laporta said last month when talking about the club's financial situation, "We knew it was bad, but not this bad".

United had losses during the pandemic and to be able to sign they would need to recover them, this is how the FFP works in Spain.
And how is United going to recover them if they are not able to sell to anyone and have also lost the income of the Champions League?
United could not sign anyone either this year or the previous year and would be in the situation of Barcelona. The advantage is that you could do a capital increase and Barcelona can't.

Barcelona's debt last year is inflated by approximately €250M, even Tebas denounced the economic accounts.
Laporta here shot himself in the foot while doing this.

By the way 1.3B is gross debt. Net debt is approximately €650M.

This, just another chance for a cheap shot as they're still salty that united ruined their childhood.

If he was that unhappy we would've bowed out ages ago.

If he doesn't rip his United shirt off burn it and throw on a Man City shirt in his press conference I'll feel let down

What has Barca got that Manchester hasn't?

I'm guessing you never spent a single day in the NW of England.

Nicer people? What a fecking stupid thing to say.

I hate to say this and burst this bubble of excitement, but if he doesn’t want to be here, is no one worried that he’ll be another Di Maria? I’m surprised no one has mentioned that yet.

Not sure if serious…

Swear some people think Manchester is like this.

Things aren't as black and white as you see. It's so easy to say move targets but then who ? We have an opportunity to sign a brilliant midfielder and if they want to take time, let them . It's not like we will get him faster and then he will play couple of games earlier. Transfers doesn't work like that !

I think that Fabian Ruiz would have been a great alternative for De Jong. However that's not the main point. My point is that we could have signed other players before the De Jong deal. Transfers can stall but very few clubs tend to stall with them. Don't tell me that if De Jong costed us 10m more then we would ben able to spend 5m per year for 3 years for Malacia?
