I didn’t want him. I thought it was a step backwards. I’d rather we crashed to 6th without him and got ourselves a haaland or darwin this summer

Without him we would've crashed lower than 6th, who would have scored the goals last season, Martial? Rashford? Greenwood? Elanga? Do me a favour!

We wouldn't have got either of them this summer with no Champions League football to give them.

Very happy if it goes through but this guy is walking into a dressing divided squad, no clear leader(s) and I get the bad vibe he’ll drown.

sign a gattuso or Keane to sort the other muppets out and we can start to see a new squad being formed.

just my humble opinion as this squad not together

Sunday is absolutely not the start of the week btw

Ronaldo the best player ever transferred.

We made a loss on Di Maria and Lukaku

And Barca look to be making a loss on Frenkie.

You said we could never hope to sell a player for that sort of package. I merely mentioned 3.

Regarding the start of the week - I've just finished my shift at Currys and Sunday is considered the first day of the week :wenger:

I'm not too sure about any other retail stores....

Ever look at a calendar?
Just looked at mine. Has Sunday down as this thing called the “week end” and says tomorrow is “week commencing 26th June”. Sounds like tomorrow is the start of a new week.

yes, and it starts on Monday. It is called weekend for a reason, that includes Sunday.

They don't look like this then?

Also: For centuries the Romans used a period of eight days in civil practice, but in 321 CE Emperor Constantine established the seven-day week in the Roman calendar and designated Sunday as the first day of the week.

Sunday is day one, The Sabbath is day seven. Our society is based on jewish/christian roots like it or not.

Looks like this, just that Monday is the first day. That is great for the Romans, but in my part of the world in the 21st century, Monday is the first day of the week.

Yup. I think Antony, De Jong and Eriksen will all sign this week to be on the tour next week. It’ll be like under LVG where we signed Darmian, Schneiderlin and BFS the weekend before they left on the Monday.
We're not signing Antony this week considering the price. I expect Eriksen and FDJ to be completed soon though.

I remember getting it wrong about Monday being the 1st day of the week..when I was 5 years old.
Baffled some supposed adults (ish) on here don't know by their age

Damn. Which exam board did you do the “the first day of the week” test with to pass at 6 years old?

Fair point, but there isn't much after those 3 in the Glazer years. We really seem to struggle to make good sales.

James was a rare exception. We did very well to make a profit on him.

Wow this thread has taken a funny turn talking about the week, slow news Sunday!

It's that slight prospect of some sort of interest update when you see 37 new posts.

Then realise 35 are arguing about a day of the week :wenger:

A teacher asked.
I answered.
And I was wrong.

Probably put me off answering questions for a decade.

Well this is the way calendars always traditionally looked in this part of the World and Sunday is technically the first day of the week using the Roman calendar. Monday being the first day of the working week and with work being such a central thing to modern life I can see how things have shifted but I've not seen a calendar going Mon to Sunday tbh.

We got good value for both Schneiderlein and Memphis.

The calendar I use most often (my phone calendar) has Monday first.

But it does raise the philosophical question of which comes first, the night (Moon day) or the day (Sun Day)

Murtough has been involved since moyes times. I don't blame coaches or the manager on anything
Why do you keep peddling this nonsense? As if Murtough would have enough time on his hands to impact anything at first-team level with all he had to be doing elsewhere at the club.
