Yes Liverpool paid what they wanted but that doesn’t mean we never agreed a deal to bring him here. Like De Jong we was willing to only pay X amount. But this comes away from my argument of us working on more deals than one. If Liverpool didn’t come in he would still be a target.

I'm not acting like Malacia is a priority. You're making feck all sense. De Jong can be a priority but that doesn't mean we cant get simpler deals at a fraction of the price over the line in the meantime.

Bro the main point I’m making is we aren’t signing him because we don’t consider him a priority. Your stressed about nothing. I’m pretty much dead certain ETH didn’t come in and say at all cost Malacia needs to be a United player by September. He was probably in a list of about of couple of LB that depending on left over budget will be brought this summer or next summer. More than likely next.

Yes it does. The player doesn't officially get to decide between two clubs until they're both showing an interest. Our interest never got to an advanced stage, we just had dialogue with his agent. Nothing more.

Are you telling me we missed out on Malacia because we are chasing De Jong and the club have missed out on a key target?

Malacia is a target for Manchester United - that's been credibly reported.
We are wary of completing deals for other targets before completing the De Jong deal - that's already been credibly reported.

That's my point, it was a simple deal that we didn't do, despite him being a target (as journalists have already reported).

We didn’t do the deal because it wasn’t a priority which is what I originally said. In the same way we didn’t try and match Liverpool’s offer.

I didn't say he wasn't a target. I said we were not working on a deal for him.

Depends what you class as working on. I would say discussions were far more advance than this link to this left back. So was this left back just a target aswell?
 
De Jong is probably the only player we would purchase who would dead certainly be a starter. We could sign Antony and have Rashford-Sancho wing duo, we could sign Eriksen and Bruno would start over him and the same for the center backs we have been linked with. This is why he is the priority and the club isn't in a rush to get other deals done because ETH knows his job is more about getting the current group going than signing players to replace them.
Forget about Rangnick rebuild idea, there's is a reason he isn't here anymore, I expect De jong, Antony and Eriksen with a back up goalie...a right back only if we can get someone to take Wan bissaka and a center back if we get rid of Jones, Bailly and Tuanzebe.
I'm more interested on the work ETH get do in preseason to get this group up to speed. Over time more signings would come but ETH must get more out of the current group to get more backing, on the long run if he is successful we'll see a team purely in his image.

We signed Ferran Torres or Auba in the winter market and the situation was exactly the same.
Barça can pay, which is the only thing Bayern should care about. Barça CAN finalize deals and Barça did it in the last markets.
If anything, it would be the players who should be worried about being able to be registered and play.

The FFP from LaLiga should be fixed in the next weeks (Barça got approval last week from shareholders) and get back to normal. The debt is there and it needs to be repaid but all the FFP limitations should be gone and have more maneuverability.

A new centre back would have to start to ETH's system to work, or Bailly would need to play pretty much every game

Tier One journalists have also confirmed that we don't want to pursue other targets before De Jong is done.

So it is more than evident that we are not negotiating multiple deals at once. We cannot enter advanced negotiations with any player until De Jong is agreed.

This is because he have priorities g. De Jong’s value and position in your list means we do not want to commit larger sums elsewhere until this deal is sorted. This will be because we are working within a budget range and how we negotiate other deals will be more clear once we know our remaining balance. Nunez being a top priority didn’t halt this process.

Conveniently we made it known how much we was generating towards De Jong once leaks of Nunez to Liverpool rumours grew. But you let the PR play you.

We were never negotiating a deal for Nunez. We were just speaking about his availability with his agent.
We learned of the appetite from Liverpool and never bothered to match.
You are outright making things up by saying (multiple times) that we were working on any deal.

Thats my point. We cant work other deals with De Jong. So we are actually not having an efficient approach to the window.

You misunderstood my point. I'm not saying Barcelona doesn't have the money. I believe Barcelona doesn't want to close a deal before they are sure they will be also able to register and field the newly signed players. Especially if the player like Lewandowski is already 34 years old. Paying 50 million Euro and a high salary bit then can't register the player would be a disaster.

That's actually also the reason why Barcelona is playing hardball with the fee for FdJ. They just don't want to sell the player before they are sure they can replace him with Bernardo Silva AND also register the latter.

The delay isn't about convincing the player but it's about agreeing a fee. If we had offered what Barca is asking , FDJ would be a United player by now( Whether he wants or not)

Rightly so. We have leverage for once and we should use it. Only a few days until the end of June so we’re in a stronger negotiating position than Barca. I am puzzled why we’re not trying to ring-fence a maximum amount for Frenkie (even if it’s Barca’s asking price) and work around with what’s left.

All very well saying that fdj is our main priority but other potential targets are being snapped up by more organised clubs while we seal the deal on Frenkie.

The issue isn't De Jong, but the 5 other signings we need to fill the holes in our squad. And apparently those signings won't be worked on until we sign De Jong.
 
I have no Spanish friends now. Didn't have any in the first place. Guess I'll just have to sponsor a donkey instead.
