I refuse to be believe any adult, especially an adult who’s been through medical school for 8-9 years, so is likely over 30, would type such a childish thing.
He probably means he has a doctoral degree in muppetology. Don't judge, gender studies is much worse.

Fabian Ruiz is very soon going to be PSG-bound according to Fabrizio Romano, so that's one of the oft-mentioned FDJ alternatives off the table.

Given the player isn’t massively bothered about joining us, then yes.
Other players put there. It’s sad you muppets think FDJ is the only midfielder in the world.
You don't know what de Jong wants, and you don't know what I think about him or other players. It's a sad state of affairs when supporters care more about what goes on at other clubs than their own.

Folks, here's my old man take on this.

We will either get De Jong or we will get another midfielder before the window closes. We will likely also get a striker/ forward too.

Ultimately though, none of this will seem important in the longer term because we already made the best signings we could make getting this manager and his chosen coaches in and are letting them get on with their jobs.

I predict you will look back on this at the end of the season and wonder what you were all getting uptight about. After the world Cup I think we are going to tear things up for the rest of the season and we'll do alright even before that; as in we'll be in close contact with the other top 4 rivals.

There's no chance they'd be tempted to sell for good money?

Unless you offer something silly they have no reason to do something like that. They need the player, they won't find a replacement and aren't looking for one, they also have a new ownership that really don't need to do silly things like that.

In reality I see the Chelsea mindset as “if the deal is too good to turn down then sure, of course we’d be interested” but not that they’ll actively pursue it. Tuchel’s interview pretty much just strengthened that likelihood I thought.

They have areas they actively need to strengthen, this would be very much a want rather than a need (although their midfield is very much going to need fresh blood quite soon)

Perhaps and if the byproduct is united pony up more cash then theyd be happy.

€80m? :D I believe we have that sort of money available now.

Maybe next summer. Everybody else can get distracted with Bellingham etc. If Caqueret was an option in a year then I'd be fine with signing somebody like Neves now, or whoever would compliment him best. Or even just giving these youngsters a chance.

I think your old man’s take is spot on. Thanks for sharing. Some fans could do with some positivity.

Why we are continuing with his purchase is beyond me.
A. £450k a week for someone who is unwilling to join us unconditionally. We should have ditched this deal some time ago because:-
B. For £71m, there are a decent number of fish in the sea.

Yeah, imagine going into the season WITHOUT Ten Hag. It would be deeply depressing.

UNCONDITIONALLY.

I’m glad to hear you would walk away over broken glass and hot coals from 17 million but the vast vast majority of the world absolutely wouldn’t leave that kind of money on the table.

Chelsea having that mind set is precisely why they’re more successful than us in recent years.

A. £450k a week

Where the feck have you got 450,000 per week from?

That’s what he would receive this season at Barcelona including his deferred wages. No new club is paying that, the reported wages he would be on would be around 275-300.
Hence why won’t leave before getting his 17 million.

If we don't sign him, I'm confident we'll still sign someone. It would be worrying very worrying if we didn't.

Ruiz to PSG as per Romano
Sangare re-signs with PSV.

At this stage, I think I would be absolutely apoplectic if Neves/Youri was a deadline day signing, can you imagine how far we would be bent over a barrel?

I'm hoping that Barca eventually caves in and offers a new contract to FDJ to pay only his deferred wages for the next 3 years. This would allow him to join Man Utd and Barca to get him off the books and receive that much desired 75-85 million in cash.

But then again, it is a dangerous thing to hope. For hope has forsaken these lands.

It's alright mate, we're smokescreening the shit out of this to sign Kimmich on deadline day

Chelsea have too many expensive, highly paid and underutilized players to consider 400k a week to FDJ. They also spent a lot during this window. I’m not worried about CFC. We will get the guy.

Safe to assume that McFred is the only alternative at this point.

If we can't persuade de Jong to join us instead of Chelsea, then we'll just go with what we have in midfield and try to strengthen elsewhere.

Neves would likely be too costly also so the only alternative is Tielemans

which is a perfectly reasonable interpretation to take from ETH's pre-match presser for Brighton. it's not like we can say we weren't warned as a fan base.

which would probably make Tielemans a "plan c". Hence why the FDJ saga has been so far outside the norm of this window. If we don't think we can get a target, it has been a quick shift. Unless i get egg on my face and we get a massive "breaking news" post-match today that we moved on, the FDJ saga is way too far outside the norm to be ignored. Being too different to they way we chased our other targets and those deals means something.

We have to sign someone. Just from a numbers perspective. We need 4 or 5 midfielders capable of playing deeper midfield. McFred are two. Garner if we want to risk a young player being able to step up. Maybe counts as half. Donny? We're scraping barrels here.

Deal would've been done had they agreed to that in the first place. They initially said they didn't want to pay him anything at all, that got bumped to 3.75M after a few weeks and then to 7.5M or something as of last report. If they negotiated in good faith instead of fecking around with him, I think he would've compromised for something like 10m.

You know what, in a normal, functioning organization, I'd expect my boss to be upfront before the saga even began and work out some sort of handshake deal.

Just say okay Frenkie, you're not starting next year. We want to replace you with Bilva. Let's figure something out so we can all walk away happy.

We are obviously not going to sign players for the sake of it. We are going for the ones we want or we will not sign anyone.

It's interesting to see how many fans want this De Jong guy who has no touch point with the club and doesn't want to join the club but the same fans want to kick Ronaldo out the club who's a club legend.

Ten Hag wants both players. So it's not about backing the manager.

Agendas..

Yeah I know what you mean. Barca are just run by absolute pricks. I'm just hoping for Barca to cave and pay almost the full amount but in installments again.

To all those saying that we're penny pinching, doesn't make sense. We've spent the most post SAF.

The way I see it is, EtH has identified a gap in our midfield. He knows someone who guarantees to fill that spot, Frenkie. He knows that player the most. He knows what he can add to the team/squad. For €80m+, he's happy to spend it.

If he can't get him, he feels he has young players of similar ilk, if not the same output now. Players he can coach to a certain level, like he did with Frenkie at Ajax. EtH would rather not spend that money on anyone but save it for a later date for another target.

Let's not forget, we have wasted a billion, and really have nothing to show for it. A part of the new regime is to be better on how we spend our money.

But more than anything, let's just show a little more faith in our new set up. We can all agree that is going to take time. There will be plenty of bumps in the road. Let's reassess next year at least.

I think it’s safe to say that from Jacobs tweet (reliable on Chelsea) that their number one priority between now and the end of the window is Fofana, and the comments yesterday from Tuchel, a CM is at the bottom of their list of business this summer.

Tbf on Tuchel, they need someone like Fofana and he knows that.
