Looking more and more like he will end up at Chelsea - the club some here were laughing at just a couple of weeks ago for not having done any deals... what a shower Laurel and Hardy at the helm of our club are

Why do you hate United so much? I have yet to read anything positive from you about the club.

I get the complaints about our scouting, but isn't it the same for many big clubs? Which unexpected and brilliantly scouted player did Chelsea or City sign the last years? Seems to be a bit of a trap for big clubs, maybe thinking only the better known players are good enough/sure enough bets to make it at the top

It's not a trap. The players that are not as well known don't have a track record of being good, they may have potential but that potential depends on being nurtured and being given lots of playing time at a good level which are two things that the big clubs often can't give.

well then you haven't read much. Why do people keep closing their eyes and say everything is going to be fine?

I warned what a mess we would be in the day Ole was given the job permanently - and got pretty much the same message you've just posted. it's because I love the club that I'm so worried

Yeah well that's certainly true, but I'd like to pick out my arch nemesis as a counter example. Bayern seem to have a solid mix of buying established stars, well known talents and rather unknown punts. Of course, having complete monopoly over your league makes things considerably easier, especially giving time to players.

Another example, although I don't know much about La Liga, was Pedri highly rated before Barca brought him in?

the club that have brought in four players in less than three weeks, including Sterling. the club that has moved out players they didn't want. Yes, that club

Koulibaly on a free (oh wait, they paid nearly 40m for him, wtf??? Only just realised this), Sterling… who am I missing?

They’ve gotten rid of Lukaku on a fecking terrible deal, at least we managed to get a massive fee for him when he left here
They lost 2 players that wanted to keep and needed, on frees.
Who else they gotten rid of that they wanted rid of?

Please clear up this three weeks that I’ve clearly missed. Because as I can see, we’ve done more business than them.

That’s not the red cafe way. If he doesn’t win POTY then he’s a flop, surely?
Bah. If he wins POTY in his first season he’ll turn into a flop thereafter. Singing players who make an initial impact and then maintain that high standard is something United seem to struggle with.

I honestly enjoy it a lot more when signings come good after a while (Fred, Dalot; maybe Donny will join them?)

He wasn't free, was he?

But yeah, Sterling aside, which took a while, I don't think their window has been that impressive

That’s two times in the last two summers that they’ve tried cheating FFP only for La Liga to audit the shit out of them and put them in their place.

Of course Barca fans on here will tell us different
Honestly, they live in a different world. I need to get me some of these Catalan kool-aid, I swear

See some Chelsea noise about him, but Chelsea have signed:
PlayerFee
Raheem Sterling€56.20m
Kalidou Koulibaly€38.00m
Gabriel Slonina€9.09m
Marc Cucurella (Not yet complete)€59.70m
Wesley Fofana (Rumoured interest)??
Frenkie De Jong (Interest)??
Benjamin Sesko (Interest)??
Total€162.99 / £136m

Including the deal with Cucurella, so how does Chelsea afford that?

Timo Werner if he goes out on loan they don't get any profit from it, all of the players leaving have been free agents.

Chelsea are also interested in FDJ, and Sesko I can't see them really getting any more transfers through the door. Surely they are priced out of a FDJ deal. There's no way they can afford Fofana. Romano says that Fofana is willing to join Chelsea.

United have spent £60m, plenty more room for 2-3 signings.
Missing the Villa kid - Carney Chukwuemena for about £15m + add ons.

centre backs on huge salaries: rudiger and christensen. plus drinkwater. yes on frees but off the wage bill which lots of people here are calling on United to do.

and in what way was kouilbaly on a free?

they've also brought in a reserve keeper and Chukwuemeka. You may not rate them but clearly Tuchel does

Come on now, if we signed a backup goalkeeper and presented that as success, you'd be the first one to take a hefty dump on United

So hang on, are you going to spin this as losing two players they desperately wanted as something good because their salaries are gone? That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.

Danny Drinkwater‘s contract run out how on earth is that “getting rid of players they don’t want”.

Like the majorly successful 'sale' of Pogba, Mata and Lingard

so we don't need a back-up keeper? but I agree it's would hardly be the biggest deal in PL history. the point you seem to be wilfully missing is Tuchel has been fully backed and ETH has (as yet) has not

Lots of people here have been saying it's as important to get rid of the deadwood as to sign new players. they can't have it both ways: if it's good for us, it's good for chelsea

How has Tuchel so far been backed more than ETH? He didn't get Raphinha, Dembele or Gnabry, he didn't get Kounde and he may miss out on Cucurella as well. We may or may not miss out on Frenkie, but certainly not for lack of trying

what a load of nonsense. He wanted both of the players he lost to stay and then he and the club had no choice but to go and spend on a new centre back because they have no one to play there.
and have they bought those players? yes. ETH made it clear what he wants and Murtough and Arnold have failed to deliver every bit as much as Woodward did over the years

EtH hasn't been backed? He's got 3 players he wanted.

Who are the unknown punts that Bayern purchase? They don't purchase any differently to other clubs.

And yes Pedri was one of Spain best talents, the same way Mejbri was one of France best talents. Niether were unknown.

I see, thanks.

Regarding Bayern, was thinking about Richards, Davies or this french kid they signed.

Matt Law has acted very quickly to confirm Chelsea’s interest in Auba… he’s still not tweeted about Frenkie

While that may be true, Ornstein himself has reported Chelsea are in for De Jong.

And Ornstein‘s reputation is spotless.

Btw - I’m completely with you. I do believe he will move to United this summer. Hoping the Chelsea interest speeds it up!

None of these were unknown, all of them were very well known. Tel is France U17 captain.

I bow to your superior scouting knowledge, but to the average fan they were pretty unknown.

Thinking more about it, you're right though. It's not dissimilar to United signing Mejbri or Pogba back then

La liga needs us, Madrid and Barca venturing in to the Super league project together is also huge.
Your comment right here kind of illustrates the level of brain washing and delusion Barca have executed on their fans.

You actually genuinely still believe in the super league which every team abandoned except those 2 and Juve. I don’t know whether you even followed what happened with the other clubs, but it turned the football world upside down. There’s absolutely no chance they’ll entertain that again.

Barca and Madrid must be living in cuckoo land if they think they are going to have a super league with no other big teams. The premier league teams certainly won’t be joining.

Barca really are clinging on to the hope of having this cash cow which has basically been butchered already.

Tuchel has brought in 3 players, so has Ten Hag, so how is he being more backed? Confused
Well for starters, I'd suggest learning to count! If/when they get Cucurella that will be five. You may not rate some of them, but then you aren't the Chelsea manager (I presume).

the lack of respect for Sterling in the caf (maybe not you) astounds me. I'd love us to have bought him. We clearly looked at Koulibaly and I'm sure had we bought him lots of people here would have heralded it as a great success.

Turning to us, let's not pretend Malacia is a guaranteed starter. The only player we actually negotiated a price for and who is likely to be a starter is Martinez. And we started from a long way behind Chelsea going into the summer

The club struggling to bring Cucurella for over 50m over the line?

The Cucurella deal is done, its about Levi Colwill going Brighton. Brighton wants the transfers to happen simultaneously.
