You missed the boat, Frenkie. Now swim your way to a safe shore... if you can, idiot.
Honestly United dodged a bullet. For 80-100m plus crazy wages you gotta be better than what he's shown so far.
He'd only improve you by how much the players around him at United improve. This guy does not provide last ditch tackles or defense splitting passes or shoot long range cannon balls. He's like the lubricant in a team, he'll quickly receive the ball and quickly pass the ball, which may be ok in a 3 man midfield but for United to succeed using a 2 man midfield, they need someone more dynamic like Goretzka/Valverde/Barella/Bellingham.United are not that right now so he would improve us but by how much?
I wanted him badly but we most likely dodged a bullet here. We have Case which was more important for the team and FDJ seems overrated. Well, at least he and the GF are happy in Barcelona
But exactly that kind of mentality is key, just look at our new signings. They are so good because their great skills match their mentality. We had more than enough players who lacked that in the pastNot convinced we “dodged a bullet” but certainly we ended up with a player much more suited to our immediate needs & with a much better mentality.
Casemiro wants to be here too, which is massive. Frenkie de Jong doesn’t have that win at all costs mentality to start with, so he would be swimming up stream if he joined a club almost reluctantly.
Maybe he’d feel better if United keep improving, his Barca stint so far has been incredibly underwhelming, yet he seems fine with it rather than wanting to go play for a manager who knows how to maximise his talents. It raises serious question marks as to what is most important to him, and being the best footballer he possibly can be doesn’t appear to be the main priority.

This is who we should try and do a deal for.
I hope we moved on and will target another player in the summer. I doubt Hannibal will be ready by then but who know, there might be a youth player stepping up big timeAye, I think he’d have been decent regardless because ETH would get the best out of him, but he’d have been paired with Fred or McT rather than Casemiro and that thought scares the life out of me.
Absolutely agree that he doesn’t appear to have that angry win at all costs mentality that Martinez, Cas & Antony clearly have. Will likely hold him back his entire career that, I think he missed a trick last Summer and if he gets another chance to join next Summer I have zero doubts it’d be by far the best choice for his career if he wants to be the best he can be.
Have a sneaky feeling that boat has sailed though and that Ten Hag won’t give him another opportunity.
So he doesn't love the club but he loves the city and his life is settled there.
I dont have a problem with that, hope we can just move on from considering him in future windows.
He didn't give in and agree to lower wages.. He is getting what he wants.. He probably likes it at Barca.. and was given a stupid contract..Confirms he knows he was badly treated by the club yet wants to continue his **** adventures.
Barca board must hate him
He is right in everything he says. And apparently, according to some media will accept a small salary adjustment after the World Cup. We'll see if it's true.
Weird little fella, not the sort of character we need.

Well that was a Paul Pogba performance if i ever saw one. Absolutely atrocious at times, one or two powerful dribbles, some runs to nowhere at all, lots of misplaced passes
...and then a fantastic assist
"I know Barca leaked my contract details, painted me as a villian and tried to hound me from the club, but I'm genuinely happy here and want to stay for another 8 to 10 years."
"I know the chefs at Barca spit in my coffee every morning and put laxatives in my food, which isn't very pleasant, but I genuinely love the food at the club so I prefer to stay."
Weird guy.
That really isn't saying much when there was barely one good performance for the Dutch today. A poor performance from them, albeit against a decent Senegal side. You clearly weren't watching the match, he was in their top 3 best players today.
I see what people mean now. Extremely skilled player which can improve most teams, but ultimately glad he didn't come.
I’m not sure what was the original plan, but if it was a midfield of Eriksen De Jong and Bruno, I think we would have struggled. We got the player that was a much better fit in Casemiro
Why wouldnt you want an extremely skilled player to come?
