He was one of the lowest performers of the entire team behind at least 5 other Ajax teammates, outperformed by van Beek just as in the 1st leg, especially in the 2nd half. But because he is a future Barca player their entire fanbase will spin this into a De Jong masterclass.

I see some similarities with Modric. The way he just gracefully glides across the pitch and opponents can't get close to him. He makes everything look easy.

To be honest, it wasnt difficult to predict him and De Ligt on the road to being world class and becoming great. The talent paired with professionalism brings you very far.

The sources said Nike was not contributing to the transfer fee but investing a "very important amount of money" in wages. Executives believe the 21-year-old's achievements during his time at Barcelona will see the return exceed the investment.
For marketing purposes, Nike has asked De Jong to use his first name rather than his surname on the back of his shirt. "I'm not sure of doing it," De Jong said after signing.

When I see this, it reaffirms my view that the only player in our youth setup that can replicate that skill is Angel Gomes and it makes me want him to turned into a midfielder all the more.
