Freddy Adu looking to move

Complete lack of ambition shown by Adu there.

I dunno...if he can't really feature at all for Benfica, then he mightn't have had too many opportunities for Hull.

At least he'll get decent game time at arse.

How? He fails in three teams in Europe and now is playing down so he can have playing time. If anything what he's doing is maturity.

and if he has any chance of making the world cup presumably he is going to need games...

Its up to him to prove this was the right move.

He needs playing time and opportunities to get his career back on track. Supposedly being '20 years of age' means that he has time on his side. Maybe now he can start developing the reputation that was unfairly lavished on him from a young age. I dont see why his talent should be written off so soon.

If he does well its quite possible that he may make the USA squad for the World Cup.

Hull wouldnt have shown an interest if they didnt think he could play some part in the team for them. Easy life in Greece Versus fighting for a spot in the Premier League.

Or maybe he didn't want to go into another situation that is ripe for a managerial change.

Newcastle showed an interest in Rossi then didn't play him much, it happens to lots of young strikers they move out on loan then never play.

Freddy Adu fails to impress Swiss club Sion

SION, Switzerland (AP) — Swiss club Sion has declined to sign Freddy Adu after the former United States international spent the week there in training.

Sion said on its website Friday that Adu had undeniable qualities but did not fit in with its plans.

Adu was signed to Portuguese champion Benfica but was loaned out last season to Belenenses and Greek club Aris Thessaloniki.

The 21-year-old forward was not selected to play for the U.S. at the World Cup in South Africa, and has failed in Europe to fulfill the potential he showed when he joined D.C. United at age 14.

Sion had the option of signing Adu because a one-year transfer ban imposed by FIFA and upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport last month will not take effect until January.

A new low

Still think he'll make the 2014 roster. But it's time he comes back to the MLS. Played pretty well for Aris but his wage demands are ludicrous.

MLS and the US media screwed him up. He believe his own hype and I'm sorry but if 5 coaches say the exact same thing and pass on you, you're not as good as you were when you were a 30 year old against a bunch of 12 year olds.

Needs to head back to the US and get down and dirty, rebuilding. He's 20 so it's not all gloom but he's quickly becoming the laughing stock of football.

Just another kid who let the praise get to him and failed to make it. Nothing new.

I remember when we were linked back in his days in the US, one of my mates emailed saying something along the lines of 'Next season's Champions League winners will be the team that buys Freddie Adu. Remember I said that'.

We did.

Granted he'd have received a proper footballing education had he signed with United or a big club at age 14.*

*Assuming he was really 14 and not 21 or 28.

Bloody hell !!!

That's the dangers of when a young player is over hyped.

He wants to prove he's good enough for the German second division. The man still has his pride, after all.

He's 21  :nono:

I remember he had some sort of trial with us a few years ago, when he was rated as the next big thing. How fortunes change...

I think what you meant to say there was:

"Yes, because when someone immigrates at the age of eighteen years old, they will often be able to tell immigration officials they are eight".

Then you'd be wrong. He immigrated at the age of 8. According to the genius, that would have made him negative 2 years old.

United only gave him a trial as a favour to Nike. At this rate he'll only be good enough for the Scottish league

You're missing the point. Brad (and niMic) is suggesting that Adu was older than his documents said he was when immigrating - falsification of such documents is known to be carried out in Ghana (and other African countries) because it's so easy to do there.

Novak (coach at DC United) sussed him out as soon as he was saddled with him. All hype and poor attitude.

He immigrated when he was eight years old to America, so feel free to explain.

Incredible oversimplification. He was fecked with by his jealous teammates because he was a fourteen year old getting so much attention. And from what a reporter friend told me Novak did not treat him well either.

Let me know what 14 year old under put in that position doesn't have a bit of an attitude. It wasn't handled well by club or teammates. Both are responsible

Based on how I've seen him completely change games when we was younger, I'd say he would have greatly benefited by going to a European Club academy. He was ruined by developing in the MLS.
