He brings lots of tenacity. However I thought he could release the ball a bit faster. There was a moment where Rashford was making a good run into space but Fred hesitated.
 
MOTM by far. At the moment he's the key for making our midfield tick.
 
He’s been excellent since last season. No idea why he got dropped from the team. Brings something to the team that none of our other midfielders have

Agreed. Completely expected this. He played similar in the PSG game two years ago when the consensus was he was shite. Actually probably kick started his career here.

He was much better tonight. Both him and McTominay played twice as well as they did that night, people overreacted because they werent rated back then and our first choice midfield had played and lost against PSG. They came out of the game with great credit for competing with PSG, but PSG were still on top in midfield.

Today it was far more mature from both Fred and McTominay and we were the better team in the middle

Fred brings an intensity and work rate that few other players in the world can bring. Outstanding tonight.
 
This was Fred before we benched him. Lets not do that mistake again.
He really is a lot like Kante yet doesnt get enough credit for it.

Yep! His little body shifts with the ball are brilliant too!
 
Big match player. Major key to our great performance in defense and setting up attacks as well with great dribbles.

Him and AWB were tackle MACHINES.
 
Apart from providing lots of energy, he was deliciously composed under pressure today.

McTominany doesn't really add anything to it. Fred and Pogba was fine too in the limited they've been given together, and so would VDB and Fred.

Fred definitely makes McTominay look a lot better though. Fred covers as a 6 excellently, so McTominay doesn't tend to look anywhere near ill disciplined as he does playing next to Pogba.
 
I think we should just use him in Europe amd cup games, he is different level when he's playing in the champions league compared to the prem.
 
Played like a warrior. I really, really like him, but tonight's performance made me even more of a fan. Great game!
 
Utterly fantastic. Hopefully cemented his spot as the starting midfielder from now on.
 
I am so flattered with his performance. He was outrageously good. It seems that in truly underdog games he flourishes. First top tier game for him was against PSG away in CL 1/8-finals. He seems to like playing in the biggest games.
 
This little buzzy bee has to be in the team. We need players like this
 
He is a fine player, just underrated. If we want to play a pressing game we need more players like him in the squad.

His energy is great, but he is also very good on the ball. Can pass it well, through the lines and also can carry the ball well. Lacks a little in physicality, but with McTominay besides him they usually cover well for each other.
