I have always felt that he has the ability to be a very good midfielder, particularly in the passing department. He can just have completely stupid moments in matches.

Today, he was pretty much error free. Great performance and best player on the pitch. Should have had several assists really.

Exceptional Motm performance today. He dominated the midfield in all phases of the game. If he can play like this every week, we will have some player on our hands.

Was very good in there today. Tenacious in the tackle, calm on the ball, and picked out some lovely passes. Motm for sure.

The difference between his best performances and his worst performances is quite staggering. Hopefully it was just a case of him needing to get up to speed after a lack of preseason. Keep this up, Fred!

"Freds best game for United" seems to be a common saying in this thread last few games, lets hope he can build on it rather than reverting to form again.

He's better than Herrera already. He's built for consistency in the Premier league, unlike Herrera who was too lightweight and injury prone to be a bulldog in midfield.

Fred finding form means Ole is not in a panic to buy a central midfielder in January anymore. Ole can relax a little and wait till perhaps Kalvin Phillips is possibly available.

Fred is now an important player and valuable long-term option to have.

MoM for me today, I think he has played quite well the last few games, hopefully continues to improve, just shows a run of games can do wonders for you when settling into a new league.

I'd swap them in a heartbeat. Ander was solid almost every game.
In all seriousness, Fred's best is better than Herrera's best, the only question is whether or not he can be consistent. Fred is better at winning the ball, and those forward passes today, my god... Ander is capable of a long ball once in awhile, but today Fred's risky forward passing msut be 90%+, he was hitting them at will and carving open the Brighton defense.

He has shown glimpses of quality passing in the last two matches but went full-on today, can't believe he's turning me around

A bit annoying that we now have to wait a couple of weeks for another game, after his performance today. He's clearly benefitting from having a run in the team and with the same players playing together more frequently. My MOTM today. Hope he builds on this and keeps performing like he did today.

Good midfield performance from him, kept things simple and seems to be cutting out the loose edges in his play. Would be great for us if he can play to a level resembling a competent PL midfielder because it gives us room to address other areas.

Really good match from him today.

Still has the odd Miskick but I doubt that’ll ever go. Some great passes forward and his defensive work as usual was spot on.

he and mctominay make a really good partnership.

I'm struggling to understand the praise. They're a League One standard side, if he's good enough then he should be showing a lot more than he did last night. Time to cut our losses with him.

After saying this on Thursday he was outstanding today his best performance in a United shirt by some way.

Brighton weren't good today but that was more due to fact that from the first minute the team, and especially Fred, dominated them.

Still very early to say he's turned a corner but I'm far more hopeful after watching him today.

Great game, just hope he can be more consistent now. Then again, it as a very open game, hich suits him. The challenge will be if he can keep this level when teams do not give him much space. Still, think he can be a squad option for now.

I have a feeling that even if he had a string of 10 games like today, he'll still get hecked by Gary Neville & co.

He was totally a different beast. Now he only need consistency.

Great stuff from him today. It was particularly good to see him on the touchline leaving three Brighton players chasing shadows, it's something he would have been downright incapable of earlier in the season when he had no confidence. You could argue he's benefited from being the only senior midfielder available for the position but I'll give Ole in credit for sticking by him and not rotating Pereira, Lingard or even Garner in there as Fred looked mentally and physically gone, like a ghost footballer.

I hope he kicks on from this as we've finally seen what he can do today.

I'd swap them in a heartbeat. Ander was solid almost every game.

Herrera was and is twice the player. Proven over a long period of time. But then a couple of good games is always enough for the fickle to flourish.

Fred was decent today, mind.

A shame the strikers couldn't finish most of the glorious moves that Fred started, probably they were also shocked with the quality of services provided by Fred.

Looked a proper player today, anticipated a fair few situations really well and then played some excellent passes to get us going.

He's looking better, still have faith in him that there is a good player in him, hard to believe we would spunk 50 million on him without someone at the club being certain that he has the ability to be a top midfielder. To go from the ukranian league to the premier league is maybe not the easy thing to adapt to straight away, we saw how long it took lindelof to adapt to the league.

He also came into the the team during such an unsettled period of Mourinho in meltdown mode and not really favouring the guy from the get go, then having to work under a new manager halfway through the season with new tactics, plus at the time matic, pogba and Herrera solidified themselves strongly as the first choice midfield for a few months under Ole and we dont know whether Ole's ability as manager is holding him back either?

This is the first time really in over season since being here that he's been given a proper settled run in the side. Get the vibe that he is a confidence type of player.

Aye, that’s exactly the word to describe his performance.

Who'd have though after giving him games consistently he'd start to play better...

Always thought he was good, just needed to time to get used to the league.

I'll hold my hand up and say Fred is proving me wrong. Play like this on a consistent basis and we may have a proper CM. Him and McTominay are forming a solid partnership.

Definitely improving. It's nice to see him getting better. Got more confidence and I can see that game is slowly slowing down for him. Hopefully he continues to get better as we need him to be good.

Said it from the beginning he would be good next to similarly energetic and technically competent players. McTominay and Pereira can pass quickly with him and don't leave him to cover every blade of grass on his own.

Fred has never had a game nearly as good as Herrera did against Conte's Chelsea in 2017
