Did great tonight poor attempt at a finish on his weaker foot mind.
Seconded.I've been hoping to see him in that position to see if he's got what it takes to rotate with Matic, and he's now had roughly 180 minutes worth over the last month. Been good pretty much the entire time. He's shown enough IMO that that position isn't as high priority as what I feared.
Brilliant. Let's recap.You’re a bit obsessed pal.
Ignore
They created two changes tonight. Both came from individual errors, none of which came from our midfield. Conversely, he won the ball high several times and created chances from it. We utterly dominated Sevilla in midfield, which is why they resorted to long ball football midway through the second half. He didn't dawdle on the ball. We didn't have to play deeper because of his lack of pace and clearly Ole was justified by his decision to play him. Bit strange to find fault in his game based on 'feeling' as opposed to what actually happened. MOTM.I agree with you. We play faster with Fred, at a higher tempo but we get counter attacked just as fast. We dont seem as able to impose our selves on a match for a full 90 minutes as a team of 11 with Fred at CDM. Compared this to to when Matic plays at CDM - the guy has days when he plays like he rules the centre of midfield at his own tempo and that really helps us play at our own tempo of possession. Matic is able to almost stay in one area and control that area whilst Fred has to cover alot of area by moving alot around it - ablity to impose control in a match vs ablity to work hard in a match.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw this.
I like Fred as a player and as a CM - not as a CDM who accommodates Pogba and Bruno. I personally had doubts about us winning today's match soon as I saw today's starting line Up due to Fred starting over Matic due to exactly the things you talk about.
Had a great game. Justified Ole's decision to start him ahead of Matic.
He didn't though. He gave the ball away at an alarming rate and wasted great chances. He can't tackle, he can't press,.he has absolutely zero positional sense.
I don't get it. Imagine having a decent player in that position. What it would do for Pogba and Ferdandes.
You are literally on your own. Even those who don't think he's the answer have had to admit he played well tonight. Not sure what game you watched, he did his job (which isn't scoring goals) and if some others did theirs, we'd be in the final

He's a troll, surely? He had 90% passing accuracy yesterday. He made 7 tackles, more than anyone else on the pitch. He pressed Sevilla like crazy. What match were you watching?
He can run around all he wants but ultimately he is a poor man's Ander Herrera.
If everybody in the team hit the levels Fred did last night we'd have quite comfortably beaten Sevilla and the World would have been a better place right now.

Of course he did. How many chances did sevilla have? 2?He is playing as a dm. Whether or not he should he playing there is a different argument. Did he do his job in stopping the opposition attacking (not saying he is the only one)? I don't think he did.

I don't remember them really threatening the goal at any other time except for the two goals, both of which came down the flanks. He is playing as a dm.
