Fred - £47m well spent

It's been just a disappointment. He is not good enough for a starting spot no matter what anybody says.

I mean at times the energy and ball revocery he brings to big games can be fantastic. But the overall play and passing its just way to poor. He needs to be replaced.

He’s nowhere near it, again a squad player that is somehow playing in crucial games and 50 times a season.

We overspent on him, Oles tried to use him but we go nowhere with him.

And to think some members think he's better than McTominay. He's that fecking shite he just can't go quick enough for me.

Fred linked to all 3 goals. He’s a disaster waiting to happen - just so happens he’s had multiple disasters tonight.

Absolute joke

Messed up our game against PSG in the CL.

And bottles one of our biggest games of the season tonight as well.

We should stop trusting him in big games.

Error for the first goal. Didn’t get close in the second. For the third he screws up a simple ball in the build up to give them possession which ends in a foul from mctom and a goal for them.

how he made it to 83 min is beyond me. When people wonder why we don’t look good in possession I point you to Fred and a player who can’t pass more than 5 yards

It would be a completely different game and result today if we had instead just played down a man from the opening whistle. Maybe something to try next game. He just ruins the match.

Said it before, will say it again. This is all because of his first touch. There's springs and coils in his cleats.

Leaving aside today's bad performance (which can happen) he's a very average midfielder.

To think that at one point in first half of this season I came here and really thought Fred is undroppable for me.

Now I can't withstand watching him play.

If we go into next season and he's still starting most of our games a part of me will honestly die. Watching him play is just the opposite of what watching Utd should be about.

Theres 2 midfielders in the leicester team who would easily displace fred.

Ndidi or tielemans. Proven PL midfielders

And there was 2 players in the Milan team that would do the same Kessie and Maite. Seriously don't understand how we've got a 50m central midfielder who can't pass or control a football.

Totally agree with this sentiment.

Having a central midfielder that can't shoot or pass, that has no flair it's sad to watch.

Swap him with Rennes for Camavinga.

Do you really believe they'd have any interest in doing that?

I don't. I think they'd take Fred if he was available in their budget of course, but they wouldnt swap their best young player for him.

Will carry on playing as he's one half of Oles snuggle blanket

I don't believe this to be true because there was a good period when Fred was out the team and seemed to be highly unfavourable by the manager.

The issue is the coaches have found balance with Fred / Mctomminay but don't have enough in their ability to make use out of Bruno, Pogba and the likes of Matic / Scott / Fred. I feel the long term interest should be to go 4-3-3 so the team controls more of the midfield.

Pep can't seriously have wanted him, can he? That transfer rumour might be the most baffling of all time.
Pep knew we were trying to poach players they were after. He set us up for this. Laughing his bollocks off he must be

So what should be the punishment for @RashyForPM creating this ridiculous thread?

Tar and feather?
My patience with him is really starting to wear thin. Real thin. Unfortunately, he just cannot play football when put under a semblance of pressure.

In fairness, I did create a thread saying McFred are...awful, too. We lose ALL attacking impetus when they play together, or even when Matic and Fred play together.

For the record, Leicester who easily defeated us have never spent over £39 million on a player. That was the 45 million euros to sign Tielemans permanently

So none of that crap we've had over the past 3 or 4 seasons about how "Oh £50 million only gets you a squad player these days"

Fair point
