Frankie Boyle

When he's talking to someone near the front and someone else shouts out something,

"What is this? A fecking Séance?"

“The most interesting thing about Nick Griffin – do you know this fact – he went to an all-girls school?! He was one of only two boys at an all-girls school, right? I’m just gonna play amateur psychologist here, right? I reckon the other boy at that school was incredibly good looking, good with the ladies…and black.”

I was watching his stuff on youtube the other night and nearly wetting myself.

The Queer eye for the straight guy joke's the best, along with the Richard Hammond one and the Saddam Husain one

Hilarious ! He actually begins the show by just ripping the audience to pieces.

Almost feel a little bit sorry for the ginger kid. Looked like he got verbally raped a bit there.

Also his new show on Channel4 is worth a look on Tuesday. Nazi Wolverine in the shower ?

The shame of it all is that he is actually quite talented but he messes with the audience way too much.

All this stand up section is just material from his latest DVD too.

This show after is looking very shit as well

Agreed. They were both a shower of total shite.

To be honest, the only thing I've really watched on telly the last 2 months is The Trip on the BBC and it's so classy that when you watch anything else, such as Channel 4's offerings tonight, it look embarrassingly cheap, naff and antiquated.

Very poorly done.... I quite liked the ideas of Knight Rider hearing voices, a generic TV show and Loose Women in Iran but they were executed poorly, cheaply and probably very quickly just to get it made and out there asap while he was "popular"....The Green Mile thing was just utter shite though and not even a good idea and I've no idea what the Brokeback mountain thing was about.

so yeah, bit shite

See a fair few comedians live and tbh Frankie Boyle is the one I've been least impressed with.

It was offensive material, just not that funny. Also used a fair few of his jokes from Mock the week which I just thought was lazy.

Mock The Week is a vehicle for the stand-up's who appear on it DVD material all of those "let's spin the wheel and see where it lands" is such a cheap segway into pre-written stuff that is supposed to look spontaneous.

I might hate that show more than anything on TV.

Give this guy a round of applause. You didn't even mention that bald cnut that's on it either.

It's actually more Mock the weak, as Stewart Lee points out.

Completely agree but there's many popular comedians out there who manage to pull off being on panel shows without dipping into their standup routine....Lee Mack on that lying panel show (can't quite remember the name of it) being a good example, Jason Manford in general, Jimmy Carr, not to everyones taste, but the guy does come up with new material a fair bit.

I do like Stewart Francis though despite him repeating a little bit on mock the week...that's purely because he's bloody brilliant though. He doesn't tour often so he's built up a bank of jokes that work over time and uses them to effect.

The person who does best on panel shows is Sean Lock. He doesn't come across as contrived like the others, and manages to be spontaneously funny.

Ahhh thank you. My housemates hated me for weeks after I refused to let them watch it.

Yeah he's underrated, his series TV heaven TV hell wasn't bad either. His banter with Jimmy Carr on 8 out of 10 cats is generally very good.

You lose your anger after 40 apparently......

See, now Stew wallowing in his own self-pity over that remark... now THAT's stand-up comedy. Sod one-liners in comparison.

Frankie's quite funny at times, but yes... like many comedians it does often feel contrived and cheap, and going for shock humour all the time (or at least often, I hope nobody will correct me on that?) does quickly take the sting out of it.

housemates? more than one and they let you stop them?

are theese housemates really your kids?

to be fair does anyone really think its spontaneous though...everyone knows that most panel games are part scripted or at least they run through the questions thatll be asked first.

I watched Frankie Boyles Tramadol Nights yesterday, and it was piss poor IMO

What possessed him to do sketches ill never know, but even his stand up was weak. He tried to be controversial but it didn't work.

its fecking awful...as you say sketches are fecking woeful and the stand up isnt much better, but I must say I did laugh out loud at why he thinks Jordan married a cagefighter...

I laughed at that too, as with the custody battle, but it was a disappointment overall

I would say 90 percent of the people I drop that knowledge bomb on are shocked to hear it's true. Then you run them through the logic and it all seems to make sense in their confused tiny brains.

Mock The Week is especially bad for it in those spin the wheel games. I'd say 9 out of 10 cats and Would I Lie To You ? even Have I Got News For You, are a lot better in letting it just happen in front of an audience which is why you can have great and absolute bollocks episodes of both.
