Frank Lampard | Coventry City?

say what you will about frank, he's brought some badly needed consistency to the team.

Is it even possible for a manager to be inept enough that he, on his own, causes the team to lose to vastly inferior (in principle) opponents just about every time? I mean, it's clear that Frank is not doing well there, but to what extent can one suppose it's possible that the manager is causing something like this to happen? It seems silly almost. Their results are far, far below what you'd think a team like that would achieve even if they had no manager at all and just went out there to do as they saw fit. Can Frank be so bad at the job that he's literally the reason they're losing? Or is that club just falling apart at the seams?
I understand where you're coming from. Pride alone should dictate that this Chelsea squad is capable of getting a point or two against Wolves, Brentford and Brighton no matter the tactics, personnel etc.

But I think it is possible for a manager alone to make things much worse. Mainly because if the players despise him or he has no currency, they completely disengage. There's also the factor that there's nothing to play for at Chelsea which makes this more likely. We saw a similar thing with Ralf, to a lesser extent. Missing out on 4th looked harder to do than making it, especially with the fixtures he had over Christmas, but he still fecked it up. Interims probably work better when they're firstly competent, and secondly there is a strong goal to galvanise the squad towards.

For years and years a Chelsea fan at work would chew my ear out that Lampard was not only a Chelsea legend but a national legend to all fans. He was desperate to get this across.

I now finally understand what he meant. A true legend in all our hearts. :D

Carlo Ancelotti had Everton mid-table. One wave of Frank’s magic wand and they’re off to the championship. Everton fans must be wondering what the feck happened.

Benitez selling Digne + Rodriguez, losing Gylfi due to unforeseen circumstances, DCL getting injured constantly and Richy leaving this summer happened. Lose all your goalscorers and creators for various reasons and shit happens.

Footballs incredible isn’t it??

How throwing money away is just the norm, how much did they pay Brighton to release Potter? £20 million? How much have they had to pay Potter off for sacking him? £10-£15 million? All within just several months, and now reportedly paying Frank £70k a week to be interim….for what? He’s literally being paid a lottery to fail!

It’s not just Chelsea obviously but my god if you make it into that football bubble, money just falls through to everyone for pretty much doing nothing!!! Or failing miserably

Normally when a ex player is in charge of a club, it's a morale boost and exciting. I mean look at our burst of form under Ole

Problem is it's not his first stint. Half of these players know first-hand how shit he is and it's spread across the whole squad.
It is as far as Boehly & Co are concerned :)

Anyone else would have done some due diligence, i.e. asked around a bit. And not just James Corden…

Probably why bad attitudes, self entitlement and lack of accountability is so rife in the sport. There are no financial consequences as everyone continues to be paid their fortunes regardless. We've seen it plenty at United over the past decade

this view plus this horrific spell being written off as Boely’s fault will see him get a final Prem job, and a final opportunity to prove he’s better than Frank de Boer

I’m not daft enough to think Lampard hasn’t contributed to anything at Everton and how bad we have been this year, despite my defence of him, but it’s quite clear the problems of Chelsea and Everton are far more and beyond Frank Lampard.

There's no defence of Lampard, he took the jobs on and failed in spectacular fashion each time.

He's too cautious and over thinks it making it overly complicated.

He's not responsible for all of the problems at those clubs but what manager ever is responsible for all of the failings at a club? Look at the line-up he put out last night. Home to Brentford and he's playing not to lose. He's a coward who doesn't belong anywhere near this level.

This Chelsea stint and his Everton tenure since c. those two Bournemouth games are inexcuseable.

He should resign.

Silva as player manager has more chance of getting any points from the remaining games.

If he wants the job.

- I’d rather keep Frank.

- I mean Pochettino is different level to Lampard, isn’t he?

- Yeah he’s been there and done it, innit. I think he’ll do well.

 Reminds me of the character in the Fast Show who constantly changed his opinion to please the people he chatted with.

Indecisive Dave it was.

What on earth is the point? That is just making changes for the sake of making changes. Shouldn't have sacked Potter at all but we've made our bed. Now we get to lie in it. This is what all those Chelsea fans who wanted Potter sacked deserve anyway.

Nah the problem wasn't sacking Potter, he was a clown. The problem is fecking up the interim manager. Lampard was an awful choice.

Anyway I said it few weeks ago but Chelsea have become such a pointless club it's unreal for me. Ton of money spent on overhyped players with barely any synergy between. Shit managerial appointment with no strategy behind any of them. Hopeless club.

I genuinely think there's a chance we'll go down and we need at least 3 more points. Which we won't get with Lampard.

Murphy's law and all that, given how the season has gone so far.

I disagree but we’ve established that months ago.

I disagree with that but say you’re right about the dangers of relegation, on what basis is Thiago Silva more likely to get a tune of a squad of players that genuinely look like they have mentally checked out of the season? What if he loses his first 4 games? Then what? Sack him too for Azpi for the final 3 games?

Surely he'll walk after this?? This is beyond embarrassing now!

Surely gone by tomorrow. Dude before him managed to get a draw against us just for one game, he can’t even do that since he’s taken over.

Frank needs to make some changes to at least attempt to take a stand and show he doesn't accept this sh*te.

Instead he just sits there. Probably doesn't instill too much confidence

Why's he doing this to himself though, it's clear he's shite at this but he keeps coming back for more, someone close to him needs to drill it into him that's he's not cut out for this.

Surely the players have simply given up at this point. Just putting in some fight would improve performances no matter who the manager is. You only see form like this when the team can't be arsed

Despite this, I'll bet anyone £10 Frank gets another PL job in the next 3 years
Bit of a crap bet to take in fairness. You get paid out as soon as the lucky bugger strikes hot, we have to wait 3 years!
