Fourth Test, Melbourne

Batsmen are living dangerously though, especially Symonds, many a ball being edged or beating the bat. Not many LBW appeals, but what's the point with Rudi 'blind bastard' Koertzen umpiring?

Now 241/5

Just heard an update [not following it live] and apparently wer'e being all around the MCG at the minute, that true?

2 hours or so to go, we've gotta make a breakthrough and soon, somehow.

372/7

Australia leading by 213 runs.

Aussies are brilliant.

I've wanted Symonds in the team for years now, very happy he has 154 runs, deserves it and hopefully means he will be a regular in the team.

England should have had Hayden earlier on but they didn't. All the talk is about aussies middle order and ow they are set in stone for years to come but they crumbled today, hussey clarke and ponting. Someone always stands up though and symonds and hayden needed a score the most and they got it :D

England's bowling wasn't that bad. Flintoff was great, had the right attitude. Its just a shame that Pieterson is the only one who knows how to swing a bat

Btw anyone watching the australian telecast think that Michael Slater is a complete douchebag? His voice makes me want to rip his lungs out and stuff em up his ass

Definately, it's bad enough with Bill Lawry being a clown without Slater right there alongside him.

It was a rumour, I think
ESPNStar has the best collection of commentators

Perth Now News Website said:
Mel Gilchrist It’s not always a bed of roses. Adam Gilchrist and his wife Mel had to contend with a particularly vicious (and untrue) internet rumour, which suggested that former Aussie opener Michael Slater was the father of Gilchrist’s son, Harrison, now 4. The couple weathered the storm and now also have a daughter, Annie, 2.

Quite tasty, looking a bit tender in years for my liking mind. Slats could do better with all his ferrari's

Decent start this morning session, bowled Symonds and their tale relatively cheaply, and both opening batsmen have made starts, albeit Cook was absolutely plum LBW against McGrath, but Rudi 'Blind Twat' Koertzen decided to start making up for making the same mistake with Hayden the last innings.

Clark you beauty :D

At 31, he has 4-5 years left hopefully. The 'New McGrath' the Aussie papers are calling him.

We just need a 'new Warne' and we'll be set.

Looks like I'm the only Englishman on this board still watching this grim test, wouldn't suprise me if that went for the entire country too. I think I'm mainly staying up to listen to the barmy army, theres sod all to watch out in the middle. At least England look like not putting me through this for a 4th day anyway, another wicket before tea and we'll be skittled before the days end.

C'mon England!!!

We need our Captain and Vice Captain to hold the line here.

We can hold out, these two can see out the day i am confident/hopeful of that at least.

Well, we've reached Tea.

Strauss on 31
Flintoff on 11

Strauss has been in the whole innings, good on him for that. Maybe this is when with a little luck, he will show and the Ausies will see again the cricketer he truly is, and closer to the one who prospered as Captain in the summer.

Cracking attitude Nick. Not one I share!

Having watched the same bleeding thing happen for nearly 18 full days, I'm close to cutting off every one of my fingers and toes, and gauging out my eyes. Just to show I'm not a complete gluton for punishment, I'm off to bed and I fully expect England to be all out end of day.

It's an easy and simple enough thing to be a bit dejected and miserable i suppose, we've felt it enough already this tour.

So, i hope for the best and that, sooner or later, the class we know that these players have within them arrives in Australia, and in time to restore some pride.

Oh crap!!

First over of the restart.

Strauss played a shot wide enough that he probably shouldn't have gone for it in the first place, and was caught.

I'll consider the dejected part now. ;)

I guess we look to Sydney then, with a hope that we can avoid the 5-0.

EDIT: As of 0452. we are 97/5.

Flintoff's gone, LBW to Clark for 25.

Read's the only batsman worth a damn left now. Can we last the day?

Mahmood out for 0, Warne gets his wicket.

Harmison steps into the breach.

Read might be able to stick it out, but whether there'll be anybody to stand there with him seems doubtful at best.

Boycott's just begun commentating again on TMS, his latest assessment is...

"This is pathetic." :) :(

Then him and Blowers returned to picking over Freddie's decision to opt to bat right at the start.

Over in 3 days I'd say. Not very good again.

Can anything save the whitewash?

I jokingly suggested a whitewash before the forst test. I should have but some money on it.

No, the end is near though.

Read's still there but he's all out of reinforcements now.

One more wicket and this one is all over.

My son is watching Godzilla so I'm not watching live as usual. There must be a certain irony here.

England all out for 161. :(

Read the last one left standing on 26, you could say he wwas England's MOM but what is that really in all this.

Australia deserved victors, showed a quality and fight that England didn't match or anywhere close to it, the divide between the two sides could be measured in galaxies. It is all very damning.
