I have no idea about this database. After seeing sooo many stats in my Classic simulation, I am doing this completely on my theme without even looking up players in the Classic database for a clue.

the proposition What If Tele Santana was hired Instead of Arsene Wenge (limited by who was available of course). I also would have bid slightly different if I wasn't in a hurry but such is life.

Van Basten is a gamble as I have no idea how this alternate history database is going to rate him. I might have gotten the bargain of the draft or overpaid for this database's Diaby :lol:

The DB in use is a mixture of CM2 and a more accurate imagining of how the players actually turned out so it isn't all about how they performed in those games.

I would expect the bulk of it is the same and massively overrated/underrated youths got edited. I wouldn't expect someone went around manually editing players in their mid to late 20s as there's not much to gain from hindsight there.

so you saying that younger players in their early 20s might not necessarily become the players they ended up being? Some of my picks are based on the idea that we're going to have a season in 98 - 99, 99 - 00, etc. Did I make a mistake picking some of those players?

isn't this around the time he came back to England to play for Arsenal? He was average enough. I remember it being big news when he went to Italy because Italy was the league where it was at but don't think the move necessarily worked out as planned. Someone might prove me wrong on that though... I was going to pick him a few picks back but decided not to. THink I went with Dunga instead.

Nah I thought he did really well in Italy. I'm sure at one point he was the most expensive player of all time in the amount of transfer fees that Italian teams were throwing at him.

That said he wasn't quite the same force by the mid-1990s so it's understandable why he didn't get scooped up earlier.

Not many (including me) will have played CM2. I'm basically operating on the premise of how the world was in 1995.

Which as I have iterated many times is the correct way to do it. The database is not same as CM2.

Do we have a single season 95/96? or potentially 2-3-4 consecutive seasons in that game?

I meant the opposite. That 1995 scouts likely got young players wrong (better or worse) so you would expect (and Tuppet said as much) that the benefit of hindsight has been applied and those players got reconstructed to develop more in line with real life.

I don't expect that to be the case with someone like David Platt or Dejan Savicevic.

It seems you all (correctly, I understand) give this for granted as most seem to be picking 16-17 year olds. Games will look more like 00s CL not 90s Serie A.

So how many seasons is this league going to run for? I'm kind of banking on at least 5

The draft is named "1995-96 season", the rules only refer to a level based on the 1995 performances.

It makes sense to have 25 players in this scenario

Picking 25 players for 1 season would be anticlimatic. Don't even think it's that big of a deal if you don't pick younger players as i'm sure the managers will be diligent in the transfermarket.

Be good if we could keep our squads intact for at least 2-3 seasons before transfers come into play.
