Gaming Football Manager 2024

Its heavily discounted on Steam now. I’m thinking of getting it but will there be a mod or something once the transfer window ends and I can start with the 2024/25 season instead of 23/24?

"We are removing features that don't get used." How are press conference still in the game then? Are people actually doing them? :wenger:
First thing I do is set my assistant to take all press conferences, couldn't give a shit about spamming the same 5 responses.

There are already transfer updates which do this. The only downside is that they can't remove point deductions from 23/24 as they've been hardcoded.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a database somewhere online to have all of the squads updated, but the player ratings will likely not change.

If you're planning in waiting until after the transfer window to start a save though, I'd recommend holding out for FM25. It's going to be a complete overhaul of the UI and match engine, with much improved graphics on the Unity Engine.

You'd probably feel like you were missing out

Does anyone remember the old 'il devasto' tactic in the older games?

Got bored and don't really like FM24. So I have done a few in-game months with the il devasto tactic on FM12 to remind myself how good it was. Ronaldo has scored 64 goals so far. It's January.

Nah they are tedious.
I can't see them ever removing them as it's a pretty common thing managers do. The ability to turn it off entirely would be nice for people that don't care for it though.

Would be something that might benefit from some sort of Chat GPT AI integration to keep the questions fresh and relevant though.

That would be great and I reckon they're probably working on that for future versions. Might be a bit too early for this UI but definitely in 26.

Yeah that could definately make it more interesting.

That is pretty much the only thing that can save them, just don't make me type out my responses, but they need to be more context aware and I'm not sure how well the game data can be factored in. If they just make a better chat bot people won't care again either.

Have you ever seen anything like it

I was super annoyed after doing so well in the groups that I got a hard draw and Porto drew Rangers...

Tycoon takeovers in the PL are fecking insane. Everton with 260m budget.

West Ham and Crystal Palace have their own tycoon owners and Tottenham are rumoured to have a tycoon takeover too. Not to mention City casually dropping 274m on Yamal.

Decided to start one more save before the new version comes out.

Scottish wheeler-dealer challenge. Win the SPL without spending a penny on transfers or loan fees, starting in League Two.

Going with Clyde. 2nd largest stadium in the division which might come in play at some point. They were rubbish in reality, finished 2nd bottom.

Seems a nice doable challenge in a few weeks, expecting rapid progress up the leagues then it being a big fight once in the SPL.

Finally got into this Clyde save today, things going great.

They had a very competitive squad already and was able to add 5 players to it, 2 of them on just £10 a week. Feel a bit like Chelsea as we have 27 players now but it can be the case first season in, can't sell off the guys that were just signed in real life. Will trim down for season 2. The board only wanted playoffs which was top 4 out of 10.

Currently huge favourites for the league at odds of 1-91. Reached the Viaplay QF where were knocked out by SPL St. Mirren 2-1 aet, so close to a trip to Hampden Park. Got Championship Ayr United away in the SPFL Trophy 4th round, that will be tricky. As far as the league goes I'd be hugely dissapointed if we don't win it even at this early stage.

This Codjovi lad I signed on a free has been on fire.

Smashed Scottish League 2, record points, record number of wins, record goals. Feel a bit sorry for Elgin who to their credit pushed us at times. Imagine coming 24 points clear of 3rd and not coming up!

Requested that we turn pro but the board denied it. Just got to plod on part-time.

Busy summer ahead - 12 out of contract and 5 loanees leaving.

I’ve not really stepped foot into this thread but anyway

For you guys, has this version just churned out so many world class players.

Me and a friend have been running the pentagon challenge, so we’ve not really had to look into top players, but as that is on the horizon, I look around a bit, and genuinely, the game is filled with world class players to the point that lots of mid table sides of top divisions have one or two elite players. It’s crazy

My experience there is that how I look at elite players depends alot on my current club. Played a save where I were at a lot of different clubs (Ranheim, Vitesse, Young Boys, Sporting, Ajax, Chelsea, Inter and Bayern) and I could shortlist a player thinking he was one of the greatest and then look at him after changing clubs and just delete him from my shortlist as he was far from good enough

Yeah I think the opposite actually. In my saves there really hasn't been many great ones. None that stand out to me like in previous years anyway. Might just be my save though.

Used sponsors on kitbasher for the first time, to make my team's kits near enough the 24/25 kit. Looking decent.

Not sure why the coloured bar under the away kit is in red, does that ever change when you change the actual kit? Could cause potential kit clashes but not with these kits I don't think.

Was getting awful kit clashes with their 23/24 default kits anyway. Home kit was actually red, away kit claret. For some reason we often played in the red home kit vs other red teams home or away, not that the away kit would have been great either. Think FM thought we were in white when wearting red and I'd changed nothing at that point.

If I remember correctly there's something else you'd need to change. It took me a while to get the actual 2D templates to update and then I had to also manually change the colouring in game using the editor.

I’m intent on developing a 5-2-3 which turns into a 2-3-4-1 in possession.

Trying to get the right roles for what I want. Rasmus is thriving as the DLF.

One thing I’d love them to put in the data hub is to let you get a representation of player average positions over multiple games. Don’t think it can be done at the moment?

Cheers! Not got the editor so I'll have to make do with that.

Something I just discovered, I hadn't made the shorts and socks the right colours so changed them mid game and reloaded the skin. The subs came on with the new colours, starters stayed in the old colours.

Wonder if that means I could change the kit colours 11 times in a friendly, making 1 sub after each change and have every player in a unique kit?

Won Scottish League 1 and the SPFL Trust Trophy. The bastards still won't let us turn pro. Maybe next season?

There's some semi pro teams in the Scottish Championship so maybe a good season in that will be the one

Yeah, surprised me. Thought at that level you would almost automatically turn pro. Apparenly in real life Arbroath were semi-pro in the Scottish Championship in 23/24 (relegated).

You get £164k for coming dead last, our wage budget is 22k a week and while it's very early days the team with the lowest home attendance so far is Ayr United with 2397 (1 game). We're on 2740 after 2 matches. Thought that would be more than enough to sustain pro status for us and the whole division but apparently not.

Dundee United are semi-pro in this save too, pulling almost 10k a game (2 matches).

Anyway, hopefully next season. Feels like a chaotic summer this one, just done what I hope will be our last piece of transfer business mid-August. Signing players when the games are coming thick and fast due to Scotland starting early. Played 7 matches already and disappointly only finished 3rd in the Viaplay Cup group stage. Was a tough group to be fair, an SPL team at home and a fellow Championship one away and was rotating to get players fit, but still. First time in 3 attempts we didn't get out of the group.

It didn't help that I had deals put on hold for almost 2 weeks due to me changing my transfer budget to £0 and then them not letting me move it again to pay for signing on bonuses for players joining on a free. Had plenty wiggle room in theory but due to me shifting it while the negotiations were underway I couldn't move it back. Finally figured out a workaround by selling a couple of players I was intending to keep. Then I had to sign their replacements, plus continue to strengthen. Messed the whole thing up!

Hopefully the old firm provide a challenge once in the SPL, there's no way we're not going up. Still not going to spend a penny on players so I'm hoping that makes it difficult.
tsuBZ1e.png

If that proves too easy I might have to try a similar challenege in a harder league or self-impose some other rules on myself. Still plenty of time before FM25 comes out.

Probably gonna go unbeaten forever in the league at this stage, still can't get past the CL last 16.

Won the Scottish Championship as invincibles, now it looks like we're going to qualify for the Champions League unless Scotland loses a place, not been following that to know. Miles behind Celtic, Rangers have fallen off a cliff. They were 3 times in a row champions ahead of this season:

Definitely going to be in Europe which causes problems, just 4 players in the squad currently when it comes to home-grown in nation and 0 trained at club. Of those 4, none of the players are starters and 1 is on loan as a backup left back. I'd be hoping to upgrade them if possible, it's going to be difficult to find better and fill out the European squad requirements when I'm only dealing in free transfers. Might actually end up weaker next season.

The stadium is also not far off capacity attendances at just over 6k. It is upgradeable to 9k but we don't even own it, sharing with Hamilton and we're not that rich to move elsewhere, 2.5m in the bank. In a previous save, a club I was at did upgrade a stadium my team were only tenants in, wonder if that might that happen here at some point.

We did turn pro eventually which was good. This is a fun season.

Finished runners up last season, now involved in a close title race.
21TBY46.png

Had a good first season in Europe. Beat PAOK, Rapid Vienna and Antwerp to make the league phase of the CL. Wins against Panathinakos, Copenhagen and Athletico Madrid plus draws vs Juventus and RB Leipzig saw us in the knockout playoff round v Dortmund. Beat them 4-2 on aggregate, winning the second leg 2-0 at their place. Barcelona just put us out in the last 16, very easily too.

To get that far was great, and it may have slightly affected the league form. Lost two of the last three, one when resting players ahead of Barcelona, the other after the game there and everyone was tired. Can focus on the domestic stuff now and hopefully wrap up the title.

Came 2nd in that title race with 90 points, Celtic got 93.

Was 1-0 up at their place when we had a player sent off for 2 yellows in the first half still. Conceded on 46 and 82 minutes to lose 2-1. Lost the xG as perhaps expected but weren't battered. 1 clear cut chance each, 1.56 v 0.91. Just needed that bit of luck. Also drew a game after that but it didn't really matter.

won the Scottish cup for the first time, beat Aberdeen in the final.

This season not going so well early on. Switched formation for the first time in this save from 4-2-4 dm wide to 4-2-3-1 dm am wide. Mostly did it because a decent Scottish am became available on a free and we're still short of homegrown in nation players for Europe. Decided to also start fielding a couple of 18 year-olds who we'd signed to aid with their development rather than loan them out so they get home grown at club status in 3 years even if they're not so ready yet. Sold 2 currently better players so we could do that.

Between the switch and the squad overhaul (we signed plenty of others too, 10 in total) results not as convincing so far. 14 points from 8 games. xG is fine, missing some chances.

Another factor is selling our biggest 2 set piece threats over the summer. A cb with 17 jumping reach & 15 heading who scored a load last season, and a target forward who I was deploying as a complete forward with 16 & 15. Best we now have is 15 + 13. We have players who are better technically replacing them but miss those physicals.

How do you not get bored?

Mind you, I used to be the same years ago myself. Are you doing build a nation?

Currently on a 53 game unbeaten run in Scotland and it's now testing me. Wanted to go from bottom to top all on free transfers and got to the SPL with successive promotions. Took 2 attempts to win the SPL and now we're well on the way to retaining it. Like you, I'm getting stuck at CL last 16, went out then on both attempts so far.

Trying to find reasons to keep going. Retaining the title was this season's and we should do that. Not sure about next season.

There is a new stadium build underway and it's another year and half until moving into that. Kind of wanted to complete a season in it before quitting but it seems some way off now, 2.5 more years of the save. If I can make it to there then maybe I'll get motivation to see it expanded. It's only going to be 16,468 capacity, still behind the likes of Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts. Queen's Park too who are using Hampden Park and averaging 18k.

Could just start splashing the cash to see how absolutely dominant we could be but that would defeat the purpose of the save. Got £91m in the bank through 2.5 seasons of CL football now and a £57.5m transfer budget. Wages well under cap too, £313k a week when we're allowed £636k.

Edit: Just secured 2 new signings who will join in the summer, really good players for Scottish league standards with scope to improve a lot as they're young.

The goal in build a nation is to do as well in the CL and up the nations co-efficient (in my case San Marino) which hopefully sees the other clubs improve and eventually challenge England. I'm nowhere near though even though I can now win the CL. The other teams are just too weak.

For league matches I haven't played one in 20 years, I use the SaS skin which has instant result button and I only manage CL games. My game has become about building well but also signing players into the league that I can filter down to other clubs. Seasons move quickly (2-3 hours) which stops it being overly boring.

So right now I'm stuck at 7th in the co-efficient, 8th best reputational league, while my club jump between 2nd and 3rd in the club standings (always behind Newcastle).

The challenge in my game is figuring out how to gets the other clubs to take the next step or becoming consistent enough to win multiple back to back CL's which I'd need to do like 3 times to break the top 5.

The end goal of catching England is miles off and hugely daunting as they consistently have 3-4 teams in the CL last 8 and a couple usually at the business end of the other comps too. With the way the new CL system works, it means usually my pot 1 and pot 2 opponents will be 4 top teams from either England, Spain or Italy. I've often got like Madrid, City, Newcastle, Inter (or Napoli who are crazy good this save) and then get another English team like Arsenal or Liverpool (for my pot 3. So the knack to not getting bored is to ignore the nation and treat each season as short 20 or so match CL seasons.

Makes sense, good to be able to whizz through the season like that! Build a nation always looked interesting to me, seen some bits and pieces on it but always looked like a huge task. The massive loan farm etc. I think some have had 200+ players out on loan at the other clubs on videos I'ves seen on Youtube.

How are the league's TV deals and/or prize money faring? They were supposed to be more dynamic for FM 24, going up as you built up the country's rep. Same for youth ranking.

I didn't even bother really with a loan farm as no one ever takes my players, so I just kinda let them sit as reserves and sell them cheap.. In the last patch they patched tv money to grow properly for small leagues so you don't need to focus on that stuff nearly as much.

Did the domestic treble with Clyde, invncible season too on 104 points. Reached the CL semis.

Just about to do my usual scanning through the released players to pick up on a free when United offered me a job. I took it while creating a save point in case I want to go back to where I was, might just do United as a one season experiment to see what happens. Clyde appointed Danny Cowley as my replacement and he's gone to town spending all that money I saved up by never spending a transfer fee. £67m on new players over the summer.

I'm not putting the same restrictions on myself at United but haven't spent a ton. The board are a bit tight too, saying I need to work with a somewhat restricted wage budget, that only 25% of transfer fees received will go into transfer budget etc. We had £34m to work with. They've been really bad in this save, finished 9th last season under Tuchel (29/30). They did win the Europa League and FA Cup under him the previous year as their only trophies, but no top 4 finishes at all in the save, best they've done is 7th in 6 years.

Sold a bunch of players, bringing in £245m.

Mason Mount (Inter £53m)
Kobbie Mainoo Bayern £43m)
newgen Matt Cox (Clyde £32m)
Arouna Sangante (Al-Ahli £26m)
newgen Thomas Schmidt (Dortmund £25.5m)
Inaki Pena (Al-Batin £17.35m)
Andre Onana (Al-Hilal £15.5m)
Christopher Bonus Baah (Al-Ahli £11.75m)
Justin Che (Real Sociedad £11m)
newgen Sully Wellens from the U21s (West Ham £9.25m)
2 more U21s for very small fees.

Bought Alexander, a newgen goalie from Sporting for £31m. Was intending for him to be backup / play in cups with a plan to take over from Onana in a year or two hence me seeling Pena. Then Onana kicked off about not being allowed to move to Saudi and I caved as he only had 1 year remaining on his contract. Ended up loaning a goalie from Arsenal too.

Outside of that we got a 2nd choice newgen right back from AC Milan for £9.75m. He's 20 and should become first-choice next season I'd imagine. There was Claudio Echeverri who City released for free and a bit of prospect shopping, signing five 18 year olds for a combined £10m or so. Total spend £54m.

Staring XI:

Newgen gk
Gusto, Diomande, Martinez, Piton
Martel, Bidstrup
Sancho, Echeverri, Rashford
Hojlund

Still got Garnacho in the squad.

Just played the 1 league game so far, beat Brentford 6-0 at Old Trafford.

I thought I got too much into this. Someone has produced 364 page guide of his 152 players available loan with profiles for each player as though it's a real-life thing for other clubs to look at and see if they would want to take anyone on a loan.

That's insane.
