St. Mirren came in for my star striker Marcelo Correia. I signed him for free whilst I was in League Two and he's scored 51 league goals for me, nearly breaking the club record.
They offered £5.25m which is far too good to turn down. It's easily the biggest fee we've ever gotten and erases most of the debt left from building the stadium.
I've just recalled Iago Guimaraes from City who I accidentally loaned back to them after buying
He looks an even better prospect tbf and has been playing at Championship level.

The SPL do seem to like scouting in leagues 1 and 2.
I terminated my affiliate with Chelsea in Jan but I get to keep the loan player they've given me for free. I started a new one with Spurs and loaned two of their good youngsters 
Trying to sign a 17yo CB from the Senegalese League and the team have negotiated the deal to include a payment after 50 league appearances.

I think it's been triggered because my 4th choice DM (been playing 2 this season) moaned about playing time and I said it's fine if he leaves on a free at the end of the season. He then announced he'll be going.
Had no intention on keeping him anyway, I'll find better. I can say that for most of the squad.

Summer 2027 and I made 2 requests. First was to turn pro which was denied and was fair enough as many clubs in the National Lwague are semi-pro still and I only just got promoted to it. Second was asking for a senior affiliate. Chairman wouldn't have it despite me trying to convince and begging. It's stupid because it only benefits the club. Was tempted to threaten to quit but stayed on.
Soon after Luton came in for me. They've been a yo-yo club in-game and have just been relegated from the Premier League under Ange Postecoglou. Attended the interview, was offered the job and suddenly my chairman wants to offer me stuff to stay!

We won League One at a canter second time of asking. Also a second BSM trophy. The stadium that I thought would be done is actually taking another year so we’re still renting a 6k ground in the Championship.
Went on a bit of a reboot and sold the players who’ve been with me for a decent spell again, but this time I’ve made like £6m in sales all from players I got for free. Tried to make some shrewd acquisitions again for the new level because I was wanted again my squad is terrible for it. Also sacked basically my entire back room team and replaced with better versions as I realised I’d just been renewing their contracts since the National league.
Funnily enough one of my outs was Sam Murray and I brought in Harry Amass on a free to replace him.

That's if I remember. Got a minimum 6 seasons before possibly acheiving both those but realistically it will take longer.

With five games to go, we are equal on points with Milan at the top of Série A, we have Inter in the Italian Cup final and Aston Villa in the Europa League final.
We are exhausted, like, orange and red hearts days after games and for some reason both finals are midweek between league games!
We draw away to Udinese and you can tell the steam has run out. We are run into the ground in the Italian Cup final, but we scrape though 1-0 to get our first trophy. A set piece and shut up shop. Players are low red, injured or marked as tired.
At home to Cremonese, I rested everyone I could and played 45, rotating orange players just to get through the game. I had to bring on the exhausted big guns and we scored in the last 10 minutes to keep the pressure on in the league. Milan won 4-0.
Europa League came on Wednesday and we were absolutely destroyed. I am playing CBs at both full backs and have planned to give all my attackers 45 minutes whether they are orange, tired or still injured. It is balls to the wall and every fixture is tense.
A goal in each half meant we ran out 2-0 winners against a poor Villa to lift the Europa League, and as we were playing, Milan lost 0-1 to Roma to hand us the title and complete a treble!
With the squad as tired and injured as they were, I thought we would lose it all, so to come out with three trophies was so fortunate. Those last 5 games were awful to play through, but so satisfying!
It’s connected me to the lads now. Ignacio was a rock at the back after he decided to stay, Sieweld and Muani came in and made real differences, and squad players, like Elliott, really stepped up. He ended up getting the winner in the deciding league game, the assist in the Italian Cup and scoring and assisting in the Europa League.
The summer will all be about using the free transfers coming in to be able to sell and make some money back, but I am very content to spend another season here after that finale. A fantastic 4 months after regretting my decision for the first 5!

In my Cessena save I’m far & away best team in the country/world but I constantly get shite Cup draws against the hardest teams.
So I’ve ran a little test, in the week leading up to a cup draw I save each day separately I then run the Cup Draw.
I’ve done it a few times & get the same set of matches regardless. I’ve just done it in the ECL quarters & drawn Barcelona on each save at home with the other draws being the exact same.
Kind of takes away from the immersion when Cup draws are scripted.
Hope this makes sense. Even if someone could just save prior to a draw & run it a few times to see. I’m on FM Touch so maybe that’s the issue. . .

I have done this in prior saves as a little test (after saving my “proper” draw) for much the same reasons as you, just to see.
I always get the same draws too, as much as a week before the draw is made. People HATE you saying it, but there is definite scripting in tournaments, seasons and careers to make things more interesting.
If I ever get a bigger lead in the league, unless my side is superhuman, I always end up losing points. If I am winning too much, I always end up getting a big injury to a key player and shit cup draws.
It exists, but the diehards hate hearing about it.
Is there a guide anywhere for creating cut out faces and icon faces?

Just put the last 5 facepack updates in and I'm glad it got rid of the other 4 blanks I had.
Edit: On a completely different note, I've decided to delegate set-pieces to staff members from now on. My fitness coach is the best we've got with 6/20 I had a killer corner routine but it was too good, taking away a little too much of the realism for me. It probably turned a good few potential losses into draws and draws into wins, so results might not be so spectacular from now on but I can live with that.

Question: Is there any difference at all between how ball playing defenders and regular central defenders actually defend? Or is it exclusively about their passing, with BPDs looking for a riskier pass at times where a CD will just clear it up the pitch to nobody in particular and/or play a safer ball?
Been playing with BPDs so far but it's difficult to find natural ones at the lower levels, thinking of making the switch to regular ones.
Edit: Just been playing around with the settings. BPD is on take more passing risks and cannot change. CD lets you take more risks, take fewer or neither for better flexibility there. Not sure if a CD and BPD both on take more risks pass exactly the same though?

I would definitely switch at the lower levels, you end up giving away too many goals from risky passes that don’t come off.
I really only use it when I find a CB with 16+ passing, otherwise, I don’t bother.
My understanding of it all before asking that question and looking into it was backwards.
CDs can actually help you keep the ball more due to them playing simple passes, whereas I always associated BPDs with possession-orientated teams who liked to pass it around.

I think I might just be risk averse
I even have an individual instruction on my defensive midfielder to play short passes. Try to avoid stupid passes and and wild shots as much as possible.

I keep posting random thoughts about the game tonight, here's another: I've returned to 4-2-3-1 and I love how even when you're not trying to do it, you get huge cover at all the attacking positions if that's the formation you're bulding your squad around. So many AMRs can play AML, some can play through the middle as AMC or ST too. AMCs can often play ST, or you get AM RC or AM LC type players.
Usually like to have a squad of 22 so it's 8 for those 4 positions on the pitch but you get so much extra depth to get you through injuries/suspensions/fatigue with this formation for essentially free. This upcoming season I've even added 1 extra player for cheap who can play AM (RL), ST(C) that I purposefully targeted for his versatility. The rest just happened to be that way and often are.

I agree totally with this, it’s so easy, especially with 5 subs, to rotate in and out. The downside in, I find those two DMC positions key. If they personnel aren’t right there, it can be a real problem.
Delegating my set pieces might have been a mistake. 2-0 up in injury time and we do this

Lost the tie because my world best GK Restes - 5 Star, let in 4 & 5 goals in each game with Barcelona scoring their first 3 shots on target both times out. Won the first leg 5-4 but knew I was fecked when the second leg started with multiple animations Of them playing flowing football, lost that 5-2 in the end.
Annoying thing is one of the pre-determined ties was Villarreal vs Newcastle, both easily beatable but knowing that Barca game was pretty much scripted leaves a foul taste.
I mean, people swear blind it doesn’t exist and redditors get quite angry if anyone suggests it, but I have definitely had the GK playing a 6.0 and letting in every shot in quick succession.
I am sure part of it is down to tactical exploits and players playing badly because they have found a way to manipulate your set up, but I really do feel like there are times when it’s just one of those games that won’t go your way.

After reading your reply I was kind of out on the tie because it’s kind of annoyed me so I wasn’t hands on, micro managing the first leg. They look fine on paper but are struggling so far this season. 5 promotions in a row is looking doubtful 12 games in. We have 17 points. Still, we've had a fairytale rise so far and the Conference National is where we've met some fully professional teams for the first time. It's definitely a big step up and just being in this division is great for our club. No shame if we get stuck here for a while.

This has happened to me a number of times too. Clear XG winners, but a keeper on 6,0 and a random defender on a 6,2, something like that. The purists will say that my tactic got exploited and was vulnerable to how they were playing, which can also happen I guess.
It’s worth taking a look in the match hub and the heat maps and seeing where the damage was done from. Sometimes is clear what happened, other times it is the magic of the FM story

What are physicals like on your DMCs and CBs?
DMCs - 1 bad (my best DM in everything else), 1 poor, the other 2 average
CBs - 2 slightly poor, 2 ok
Sounds like you're suggesting to give the best physical ones a run in the team? Could do, we're not going to get relegated. Sitting 9th now, 5 points off the play offs after 16 games.
If you have different options, I would give the physical ones a go and get a few of them tackling hard (can always take them off for the others on yellows)

I noticed a big difference when I went with a physical DLP who could pass a bit instead and put him on tackle harder so he gets stuck in too.

Best performance of the season by miles too.
2nd on the xG table and we're 12th halfway through the season. Clutching at straws! Scoring as many as expected, conceding more.
Agree with the first part but 16 is too high a threshold I think.
I am just risk averse! I had it on normal CB in Portugal and it was fine. I just didn’t like giving guys with 13 passing that much freedom.
Only went to a single BDP now with Juventus because Inácio has 16 passing. Feel like it’s a potential weapon now on the counter, whereas I felt like it was more wasteful and led to more mistakes beforehand.
But yeah, 14+ is probably enough if it suits how you want to play.

Started a new save with Yeovil who have gone from the National League in 2002/03 to the Championship in 2013/14 to back down to the National League South in 2023/24. Time to make those PL dreams a reality.
Finished the 27/28 season strongly with Fairford. 12th at the halfway stage and ended up 5th. We beat Rochdale 4-3 at home in the first playoff round in front of a record crowd of 4,135. 1000 of the fans were ours We had to go to Oldham in the semi-final who finished 2nd and we were defeated 1-0. They went on to win the playoff final against Torquay.
The playoff game against Rochdale was a mini payday of sorts with £45k in gate receipts. We needed that as we had no run in the FA Cup. Normal attendances are 450-500 and we lost £180k over the season. We now have £120k in debt and the club is valued at just £8,000. Had 3 takeover rumours during the season but nothing happened yet. There was internal takeover, local businessman and fans trust supposedly taking over at one point or another. Luckily our wage budget hasn't been cut for next season, a small increase from £7,666 a week to £7,775. I'm confident we can put another good showing as 20 of our players from this campaign already have contracts in place for next season.
I didn't use the loan market at all but will be seeking to next season. There's a few players on relatively high wages for us I'll be looking to move on and I think we can get some quality in.

It entirely depends on what level you're playing at. Like for example 13 is probably the avg for a Premier League player and in my opinion a pretty decent level for a CB.
I'd have no problem playing someone on that role who is 12/13 on passing. Depending on what his other attributes are also. Stuff like vision is also important.

Ah unlucky! Sometimes it can help to have to stay in a league longer. My two year League One stint definitely gave me time to get the squad in a strong position to qualify as champions rather than scraping the Play-Offs.

This guy was generated when I first started the game and played the first couple matches of this save before I brought in some better free agents. I just sold my starting GK for £3.75m (couldn't turn that down) and when I realised my back-up was injured I had to check the youth teams. This guy was still in the Under 21s aged 28 on the same £20 month to month contract he's been on since 2023. We won the game as well, even though he conceded the one shot on target he faced.
