People should play exactly how they enjoy playing.Had this about 3 months and just getting started now. Want to play this differently from how I've played FM in past. Usually find some killer tactic on a forum and use FM scout to find players. Might be cheating to some but I would still get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
For now I want to make my own tactics for definite. Still might use scout, not sure.
Was watching an FM 18 series the other day on youtube where the bloke doing it was trying to replicate Tony Pulis tactics. Thought that was a fun idea, to try and recreate a particular manager's tactics, perhaps his in particular as it might be fun to win ugly if you can. Would feel a bit like trolling the AI. Also thinking classic Fergie 4-4-2 and LVG, Cruyff and Conte variants of 3-4-3.
Starting in the lowest English league as I always do , picking Altrincham as they're the real life non-league side I have most affinity for.
People should play exactly how they enjoy playing.
True. I don't know, suppose I see it as a bit less how a purist might play it. Mind you, true purists would keep on attribute masking and I don't think many do that at all.
Going to use genie scout to find better players and I'm doing Pulis style for fun. The default 4-4-2 direct counter attack isn't a million miles away from what I'm thinking it should be. So far I've turned up time wasting to max, the full backs to no-nonsense and the sweeper keeper to a goalie. That's changed fluidity from flexible to structured and if there's one thing Pulis teams are it's structured.
The striker set up of PF/AF looks right to me if trying to recreate his tactics although I could go TM/AF or TM/PF too. Midfield looks about right.
Just assessing the squad now, trying to figure out starting XI, and where I might try to sign someone or loan them in. I definitely want to find a Rory Delap style long throw specialist.
It depends on the individual really, I used to hate playing with the attributes masked but now I prefer it. There's no real right or wrong in that situation.True. That's some upgrade!Season 3 in Chile with Santiago Wanderers has come to an end.
1st in the League, nearly going unbeaten! And got to the semis of the Copa Libertadores! Beating Palmerias and Flamengo (!) on the way.
Insane season, I had two gegenpress tactics that I rotated with which worked fantastically well.
Anyway - I think I've achieved all I can with Santiago Wanderers. Had three great seasons but I want to move to another South American club.
So I resigned. After about a month, I got a few job interviews at mid/low table Argentine clubs (Bergamo and Defensa y Justicia) and I attended both with the intention of taking one of them... when all of a sudden, Flamengo show interest! They sacked Jorge Jesus after finishing 4th last season (and getting beat by me in Copa Libertadores )
And I manage to convince them at the job interview to take a punt on me. I'm a 2.5 star reputation manager and after working with pennies in Chile I'm at arguably one of the richest clubs in South America. It's going to be a whole new challenge working against much higher expectations but looking forward to it.
Does it even matter with Utd? The board just gave me a £300m transfer kitty for my 3rd season! And here I was planning on selling a few players this summer and only buying some kids.I always get massively excited when takeover rumours start for my team and then always end up disappointed. I'm United as well, so there's even less chance!

I got Zenit to take Sanchez in mine but it costs me 200k a week in wages still. Fecking waste of space.Tbh, not in the slightest as i've always got similar budgets in previous games but it's just nice to have that feeling of becoming infinitely rich.
Although i've just started my first season with United (which is actually second season in game - I always sim to second window as it creates a much more interesting scenario for first season, with players transfer listed and clubs in final league positions) and the state of my squads wages is quite hard to manage, with Sanchez in particular being impossible to shift.
Looking at my transfers for season 1 now and it looks like i've actually spent £240m anyway
I've just won the sextuplet with Chorley FC. Where to go from here? The real world?
Trying to focus on bringing through youth now and signing cheap wonderkid with high potential to develop.
Yes. The game counts the community shield and Euro Super Cup as trophies so claimed a sextuplet! As in Premier League & Champions League?

At what age to players get more consistency?
I have a two striker system at Inter, my lesser striker (Croatian regen, age 23)is outscoring my Italian regen called Casagrande who came up through the ranks, made his debut at 16 and is now finally my first choice at 21. I have a lot of affinity towards him that and the fact his name means big house despite being being a small player
His report says his weakness is consistency and it bloody shows. 9 goals in 25 games whilst my Croatian who wasn’t meant to be first choice has 18 in 20, he’s also 6’6 and has pace and power.
I don’t care about the goals that much but Casagrande does little else if he’s not scored despite having 17+ stats in dribbling, finishing, movement, composure. He even has 17 for long shots and 14 for heading. His speed stats are 14 and I wonder if that’s a problem.
Cheers mate. Took till the year 2032! Got the game last Christmas and my use accelerated during lockdown! Signed a computer generated striker called Thiago Bueres who is an absolute beast! Which helped quite a lot!How many seasons did that take you? Hell of an achievement.

Remember playing champ man 92/93 on DOS in the mid 90s. Had forgotten how much I enjoyed the game.
Far too many hours tbh. Ha!That must have been a lot of hours. I’ve got Bath City, who are similar level to Chorley, up to play off positions in the Championship. Definitely need that Premier League money though. Struggling to pay my best players £8k a week and my opponents have players on £50k!
I've just had the worst end to a season I've ever seen.
The league was always going to be tight because neither Spurs nor ourselves have lost since October. I let them take Mbappe last summer when he preferred a move to us because I was hell bent on developing what I had coming through and that's cost us. They've pipped us by goal difference on 97 points each which is crap, but I can live with as we pipped them by a couple of points last year. The draw at home to Bournemouth in January will haunt me for a while though.
Then in the CL semi final, I was 2 goals up and had the away goal advantage. Madrid get a man sent off after 74 minutes before somehow turning into 1970s Brazil and scoring 3 ridiculous goals in the last 10 minutes to knock me out 6-5 on aggregate. To put that into perspective, I conceded 16 goals in the entire league season and had only conceded 2 goals in the CL up to that second leg.
I feel sick.
Haha, this sounds like it could be glorious, or could be a complete disaster . Will look forward to hearing about how it’s going.
I knew it would be them you were facing. Nice work!
OMG Just imagine the mix of emotions if that ever happened?
Romped the league as well, what a guy!Tony Mowbray went and did the Diet Treble:
Next year, world domination.
Some bizarre AI decisions going on though. United spent just under 150m in the January window on four players, including Arthur for 60m, and none if them really got a game. 12 appearances in total between them, most of them sub appearances.
Liverpool had a 100% record after 12 games, then Klopp went to Madrid, and they completely bombed. Klopp won La Liga by a mile instead. He alone seems way overpowered. Must have some hidden stats that dictate he just smashes everything, the cnut.
I won Bundesliga and Pokal with Bayern. Gonna resign and find something more challenging (but not restart, as I want to keep playing in the same universe as Tony Mowbray as he conquers the world).
I barely even tried towards the end, played loads of reserves in unsuitable roles and still swept everyone aside. Thought it'd be a good save as they were in disarray when I took over, but it was pretty easy getting them on track.
Have you tried individually going through each player telling them they've been disappoint recently? I got so annoyed with my team last season that I actually did that.Disaster!
There's one result missing off the bottom of that, another defeat 2-0 away.at Leamington.
On the verge of being sacked, got called into a meeting by the board and had to explain myself. There's no way what I'm doing is going to pull me out of this hole so I've downloaded a tactic using the same formation but a very different style of play. I don't really have the right players for it but it can't get much worse than that. Need some instant results.

Not sure I want to be associated with this evil campaignI've taken it to extreme levels before on an older FM when you had training sliders. Over worked a player until he was severely injured. Then when he came back, gave him no training at all. Retired at 25 with god awful stats. All because he missed sitters in crucial games.
I knew it would be them you were facing. Nice work!
