Gaming Football Manager 2018

It's just a little thing they added to make the game world seem more lifelike. Hardly anything to get worked up about.

It seems weird since it is a type of thing they have avoided in the past. No one even dies in the game.

Had a 3 hour session yesterday. Keep trying different tactics to find the perfect one and the board are concerned about that
I can hardly see the white ball on the pitch. any one else having the same problem?

Having nothing but trouble since the beta update. The game keeps trying to install itself again which has so far taken since 9pm last night only for it to get to 75% and stop saying "connection timed out".. it's done this three times now.

I played it on the weekend. I like some of the new additions.

It did seem like everything on the UI takes an extra 2 or 3 clicks to get to where you want. Starting a match especially was a pain in the arse.

There was also also a nuclear-green pitch that I played a friendly on in 2D classic view that was painful to look at.

Just had a browse on the SI forums. They've released a hotfix which has addressed some of the issues and they are looking at getting the neon green pitch issue sorted by release day too.

My game goes tilt just before playing the first game. Is this hotfix on stream?

Scouting report is just awful. Close to deadline and I thought I will sign LB. Scouted Tierney and Ghoulam but have to wait 4 days for scout report. I had only 1 or 2 days for deadline day, they should at least have some quick report option.

They really need to get a new UI team in. Every year they seem to make it worse. The scouting centre is horrible, interesting the first time you use it but even now after a few days I just clear all. It also seems to be recommending the worse possible players. That and the team talk being made even more button presses is another bugbear of mine.

I'm sure there's others but thats what springs to mind straight away.

It seems to me that they want the entire UX to feel more like a game. Lots of big buttons etc.

I much preferred it when it was more a giant wall of text. As a game that takes fecking ages to play anyway, I want to be able to do things as quickly as possible.

I don't even know what they're trying to do if I'm honest. They made a big deal about the match day experience, but the main tactics screen when in a match is kind of hidden within the tactics button at the top. It all just seems messy and not at all user friendly. It's been going on for the last 4 or 5 years now too and they still can't seem to get it right.

Like you say, its need to be made so you can do things as quickly as possible but everything feels like its an extra button press away compared to last year.

I assume their opinion is as good as yours though really
Scout reports definitely should take time.

One thing I really didn't like about FM is how easy it was to just sign all the best players. To scout a player you should have to wait until they play a match really

Fail to prepare > prepare to fail and all that

It's a problem people have reported. Hopefully fixed by release

In the last day of transfer window, I won't be needing 100% report, at least some basic info like what player might cost and wages would be fine. also some report with lot of information missing.

I guess, but I suppose you could negotiate with the club. You'll quickly find out what a club wants for a player

As for the game. I'm waiting for it to be released properly so I can play a network game. I've had a quick look around and stuff.
The changes are for the good, feature wise, but I've not moved past day one, so I don't know how well worked they are.

The menu's, I must admit, are quite poor. As others have said. You need to click a few more tabs to get to what used to be there for you on the main page

It's never wise to buy a FM game before December, nevermind before release. Unless you enjoy playing through a bunch of bugs and unbalanced engine.

All the UI changes and cluttered screens have really put me off playing this for the moment. I think I'm gonna wait until the full version comes out and see if they've tweaked anything.

As an example, I see literally no benefit in having to click a few extra times to do your team talks now. It's stupid.

Am downloading the beta as I write!

Will it automatically update into the full version on 10th?

Some times FM scouts just take the piss. Don't think there is a better RB than this guy.

How do you insert an image like this?

Spent my whole budget on Dybala pretty much (going up to like 160m after all bonuses), but he's fecking amazing. Lukaku was meh for me, Rashford and Martial are doing pretty well but inconsistent, and I have Malcom rotating on the right wing. Just need to find a way to fit them all in. Probably in a 4-2-3-1 with Dybala behind Rashford but 4-1-4-1 with martial and rashford wide, dybala up top is what I'm using for now. Pogba-herrera-matic/seri is the midfield. Tierney quality at left back, valencia at right, then lindelof-bailly in the middle working very well.

Couldn't sell mkhitaryan and mata in the january window so will offload them in the summer. Same with Rojo probably as Jones and Tuanzebe are good enough. Will also let go of ibra, not sure on lukaku. Probably so he doesn't complain.

how did you afford dyabla with £40?

Won the title on goal difference (with 78 points) over Spurs. Took an 86th minute goal from Malcom after Mata missed a pen in the game and my team hit the post 3 times, and then Spurs played Chelsea who missed a late penalty before scoring an own goal to give them the lead in the 75th minute making me think that the game fecked me
Did shit in other comps though. Lost in the 3rd round of the carabao cup vs City, 6th round in the FA cup vs Bournemouth, quarter finals in the CL vs Real Madrid. Beat them in the Super cup though. Never really settled on a formation and set up, ended with just 60 goals in the league, though I conceded only 19 with 24 clean sheets.

All comps, Lukaku ended top scorer with 19 goals though he was being rotated a lot after January, Rashford got 12 goals and 7 assists (most in the second half of the season), Martial on 10 goals and 8 assists, Pogba 10 and 5, Dybala in half a season with 9 and 5. Tierney top rated player for the season. Not sure what it is but never really felt like anything really worked.

Pretty much done my ins/outs for the start of the 18/19 season. Here's what I've done so far...
2017/18 IN:
  • Tierney (19m)
  • Seri (29m)
  • Malcom (40m)
  • Dybala (155m)
2017/18 OUT:
  • Smalling (15m)
  • Fellaini (15m)
  • Darmian (30m)
  • Romero (free)
2018/19 IN:
  • Soler (30m)
  • Asensio (64m)
  • Sarr (7m)
  • Kimmich (57m)
2018/19 OUT:
  • Mata (15m)
  • Mkhitaryan (15m)
  • Rojo (12m)
  • Shaw (7.5m)
  • Ibra, Carrick, Young - released
Dissapointed not being able to get more then that for Mkhi and Mata. Nobody wants to get Lukaku or Matic either, so almost had trouble with ffp (wages) but got rid of enough players. Herrera has 1 year left on his contract and I can't get him to renew, so not sure what I'll do there. Liking my lineup though:
De Gea
Kimmich Bailly Lindelof Tierney
Herrera
Asensio Pogba
Malcom Dybala Martial
Rashford rotating in the front 3.

Just got this. Gonna do a United save where I act like Mourinho (never play Shaw, always swap Martial and Rashford around, put everyone behind the ball against any good team, play a 4-2-3-1 against everyone else). Disabled the first transfer window too.

I had my assistant manager handle training sessions with Ajax. And we seemed to have Battle Royale type training sessions since I was having first team players getting injured basically everyday during winter break.

Whelp! I made a new tac to see how the players could cope with a Klopp-esque pressing game, but with a competent defensive structure. Currently up 5-1 vs Bayern at half time, playing some really good stuff :D

Edit: Made 11 changes at HT, and still ended the game 6-1. This could be a fun formation.

How are the new features (dynamics, medical, scouting, etc), helpful or a tedious?

Can anyone help please? I have got the missing file privileges issue when updating/launching game.

I have restarted it, done all sorts of stuff I've seen online and swiitched off all my anti virus/firewalls but still no luck

How are the new features (dynamics, medical, scouting, etc), helpful or a tedious?
Dynamics neat but not sure if it changes things. Scouting, think i prefer the older way (for filtering players and all that, though scouting more info on specific players is better now I'd say). Medical definitely more info now and helpful if you look into it. New match interface much worse than before (very choppy), dislike that they got rid of split view match watching and the standard 2d mode (though there is still a 2d classic mode). Tactics in game is awful to go in to. Tactics screen outside of the match interface I prefer now for sure, how they split it and it seems cleaner and easier to use. Transfers seem better throughout, though selling players is impossible for decent prices.

So, just been sacked as Man Utd manager for the first time in my 20 year career with the game.

I decided to start as a Sunday Morning League level manager and the players didn't like it.

Squad dynamics are gonna be huge this year. Everyone who was not starting came in me crying and threatening to leave. The players who were playing in their place huffed even though if I did play the unhappy players then they themselves wouldn't be in the team. A whole mess. Lukaku didn't score in 10 games. Neither Martial nor Rashford are green as CF?

Won 6 out of 6 in CL but league form was shocking. No away wins at all. Losing 1-2 at City and then 1-4 at Anfield and I had a meeting with Ed. 10 points in next 5 games or you're out. I knew I had lost the players, the fans, everyone, so I went out all guns blazing playing a 3-3-4 overload direct passing tactic. Lost 0-2 at Watford, 0-1 at Stoke and bye bye. Now I know how Moyesy felt.

Still, looking forward to the next save. The hot fix has been great, I think. Think I'll go LLM or somewhere on the continent. Quite fancy Russia in WC year.

Was tearing up the league. Now in december and Martial got injured, then rashford, then lingard, then Dybala, then asensio  Feck off. Nothing huge but all for around a month. Annoying.

Edit: And now in the same match that Dybala and Asensio got injured in, Pereira got injured. Literally everyone who fills in at left wing getting injured.

And also now pogba injured after the game. lol

Anyone tried playing with Roma? Just started new save yesterday and they have perfect squad. Few long term injuries apart there isn't a single thing to complain and you can play any formation.

Even in the team analysis, there isn't a single con reported. Not sure whether they are so much overrated in FM or they are really this good but they have very good team.

Really getting annoyed with the extra clicks and slow UI. Tried so many different tactics. I got sacked by Madrid, and by Aston Villa and on the verge of getting the sack by Spurs. The sacking isn't the problem. The problem is the horrible UI, players who are set to play on a rotational basis throwing toys out of the pram, the scouting centre etc. I think they broke the game this year :|

I got a data update for FM17 and I was really enjoying that. Really want to play this as the likes of Mbappe have better stats etc but if things don't improve on release day, I'll be going back to 17.
