Gaming Football Manager 2016

Anyone else have an issue with coaches evaluations of players fluctuating wildly throughout the season? When Gabigol was shit the coach that I go to for reports (18 and 19 for judging ability/potential) had his potential at 5 stars. A couple of months later his attributes haven't improved at all, but his performances have massively improved(13 goals and 5 assists) now his potential is 3 and a half stars. Martial is the same, despite improving his attributes his potential has massively dropped from 5 to 3.5. It's not the coaching or game time either as the lowest rated coaching category I have is 4.5 stars and they are getting plenty of matches as I rotate all the time.

Got a little bit trolled on my game by Real. So Odegaard (who doesn't actually look THAT good) was coming towards the end of his contract and his status was strangely "not needed by club", I offered him a contract and it looked all good to go, that was until the day after when Real triggered his year extention clause. Prick teasers!

What to do when you got an almost unlimited transfer kit and a rival team with a player that you simply MUST buy?

Bellerin to United for £300m, that's what you do :D

Okay, so the Glazers finally managed to sell the club! After hearing about rumours about my potential replacement due to several different potential buyers of the club, I ended up surviving the takeover.
The new owner replaced the entire board of directors (Fergie, Charlton and Gill gone:() and I was very wary of the upcoming changes.

Called into a meeting with the new board:
- Hi. We want to give you an ever bigger transfer budget. How about another £200m in addition to the £300m you got?

They are also going to build a new stadium, and said that they will invest more than £2bn to make sure we're the biggest club on the planet.

Maybe things after Glazers arent all that bad, huh?

Edit: They've also doubled my wage budget, increased my coach limit by 10 more coaches and 10 more scouts... This is going to be such a delight, turning the club into the undisputed #1 club in world football :D

if you buy him early enough he has a buy out clause... but in the first season he did not want to move
loan him, play him, then offer the clause and he will join... - but Max Meyer is better anyway
I bought odergaard in the jan of 2nd season. Asked my directors to negotiate and they delivered him for 30m. I did not even have enough transfer budget but they recognised the opportunity so they paid for it outside my budget!

He's already a key first team player at no 10 so I'm gonna sell Rooney and mata in the summer!

 Sounds like an extremist takeover.

So... After 5 years without ever winning the Champions League, this happened:

Finally started playing this..

What the feck is with defenders passing the ball out for corners over and over again? is this normal? is this happening with anyone else?

I believe the stars are based on the overall quality of your squad. So if you have a team of Messis and Ronaldos, your 5 star scouted teenager will drop to 3 stars when they sign for your team.

Do people here recommend the game?

The last one I got was 2014 since I got frustrated with 2015 being the same game so didn't buy it.
Has it changed much since then or should I just hunt down a new db for 2014?

Anyone?

I made the same jump from FM14 to 16 and skipped 15. I think they're at the point with the game that there's not much they can change year to year, but I think there's enough differences between the two to justify changing,in particular the stats overhaul thanks to the ProZone deal is long overdue.

Thing is, for the sake of a the cost of a night out the amount of time I plug in to FM means its probably one of the cheapest forms of entertainment around.

Yeah that makes sense. Just found it odd that Martial's dropped when both his performances and attributes were improving. Meyer's has never dropped from 5 stars though, he's becoming brilliant and starting to displace Mata as first choice, while Lincoln has finally arrived and seems to get a goal or assist every time he plays despite me trying to introduce him slowly.

First season. I'm on course for 90+ points and I still think Chelsea will beat me to the title. They never lose. Very frustrating.

I also smashed Real Madrid 5-1 in the CL QF but Porto battered me at home in the SF, with Casillas saving everything. 9.3 rating, cause, feck it right?

It probably just means Meyer's potential is higher than Martial in the game so you better hold on to him!

Not sure what's going on but I can't seem to open FM. Keeps saying the app is already running so I can't open it. Tried restarting steam (which I have to end process to shut it down because it says the game is running), tried restarting my computer, everything.

Also whenever I do get it to not say that Football manager is running, and I try to open it, steam just freezes. Frustrating as feck.

Edit: Got it. Had to delete and reinstall steam basically

So I finally caved in and bought this. Goodbye social life.

Playing in my 6th season as Celta Vigo I finally have a quality team with a decent shot at challenging for the title. For the first time I manage to get a run going at the start of the season and I just can't stop winning, just like Real Madrid who end up winning the league by 96 points. We got 94 points. Still haven't touched that save. It's been over a day.

I've not bought FM for 2/3 years but saw 2016 on CD Keys for £17.95 on Saturday which seemed a good price. Maybe not the best idea just before Christmas as it doesn't give me any time to spend with friends and family.

That's a good price.
Still $50 USD on steam.

Jonno's Leeds United

How would Manchester United fan Jonno fair at mid table cash strapped Leeds United?

Being a Manchester United fan, there were mixed opinions by the fans and media when I took over. I was hoping to quickly silence my critics. Having looked through the Leeds squad, the first thing I noticed was a core of great young players, players that could be developed into good Premier League players in the future. I wanted to have a go at getting to the playoffs despite being predicted to finish about 15th, so I identified the defence and midfield as an area to strengthen in the summer.

Final League Table

It wasn't as easy as it looks, I spent a lot of the time sat in positions between 1st-4th all season. Only 1-3 points seperated about 6 teams, and we only really pushed away on game 43 of the season when we beat Hull City away from home 1-3. We clinched the title at rival side Preston on the last day of the season, a comfortable 2-0 win.

Transfers

I'd recommend upgrading the defence somewhat, the two lads I brought in at the back were steals for the prices I paid. Absolute machines at Championship level. Joel Campbell was a good january loan signing too after I had TWO winger/inside forwards break their legs in November.

Signing of the Season - Galeano

This lad was the pick of my transfers, £800k, absolutely solid at the back, and had a bit of pace about him which was handy chasing a striker back when playing with a high back line. Barely missed a game and consistently performed.

Signing of the Season Runner Up - Riviere

So come January I was sitting 1st in the league, but I wasn't convinced by my striker Chris Wood. He was a target man but rarely held the ball up, and had only managed about 5 goals in 20. Most of my goals were coming from my IF's either side of him. So I scraped what I could together and went for this guy. £1.8m very well spent. Didn't quite make it at Newcastle and was available almost half price of his value. I liked his pace and acceleration. I wanted a pacey attack and he fit the bill. His goals got us promoted. He was a big player for the big games, our run in towards the end were against sides in the top 6, and he kept scoring when we looked unlikely to win. Great buy.

Formation / Strongest XI

We had a small squad, and the entire 11 picked itself. We struggled with defensive injuries in January and had a big wobble, but when 8 or 9 of these players were fit we generally dominated games with this formation. As I said earlier, I liked the young core of this squad, so I built the team around the players already there in Byram, Cook, Taylor, and Murphy.

Performance of The Season

We were under pressure to get a win, and we exited our bad run of form by pulling out this performance. We had perhaps more important results, but I've picked this as I doubt we will hit this many in a league game for a good few years now.

Next Seasons Objectives

Use the huge TV deal of the Premier League to invest heavily in the defence and attack of the team. I'm aiming to get 5-6 new players into the strongest 11 to ensure a smooth transition to the Premier League. Leeds are a big enough club to attract some good Premier League players.

Flog some of the over performers

Anyone have the mobile version of this? Worth getting? Haven't played FM properly since FM08

Who wants a good challenge?

I took over Ipswich in the summer of 2016 as they got promoted to the PL. Rebuilt the entire squad with the ~30m I got to spend from the board. Finished at 8th in my first season with by far the youngest squad in the league at an average age of 23.

Now it's the end of October 2017 and I'm struggling at 15th because of a silly drop of form. I've been playing FM almost non stop for the last 30 hours and I'm getting tired with no energy to make the tactical changes to turn around the drop of form. I figured why don't put the game file up here for download to anyone who wants to give it a go. The squad should be good enough to challenge for the league title within a few seasons, and I've even saved up quite a lot of British Pound Sterling to spend because I couldn't really figure out what to spend it on.

I retired myself by the way.

Weren't you blowing heads off in the army?

Luke Shaw has been injured for the past eight months in my game. Checked his profile, and there are green arrows by most of his attributes.

Has he been playing FIFA and watching YouTube videos at home, and learning more about the game to improve like that?

Going to start a new game in the Championship with a random club and see how I do. Got bored of my United save.

Gone for Middlesbrough.

Started another new save. This time with Bayern Munich. I have never managed in Germany before. Really impressed with Coman and Robben. Proper competition between these two for the AML spot so I just rotate them between games. I lost the German super cup to wolfsburg but since I beat them 5-1 in the league they have collapsed. I'm now 9 points clear. Lahm is ace and he is set to retire at the end of the season. My only new signing is Kurt Zouma who is a beast alongside Boateng

Really tempted to get this to give United a complete overhaul. Players, staff, transfers, youth set up, setting up links with clubs across the world etc etc.

I've heard this version wasn't the greatest though.

Absolutely love Memphis and Martial on this, into my 3rd season and I have managed to buy Neymar, Pogba and Reus also. Along with wonderkids Gabigol, Ibolo and lincoln my attack is set for years to come.

Defensively I got Laporte, Rodriguez and Mayke to help balance the team better, and so far have won the league at both available opportunity. I am playing with a friend online who is playing as Chelsea, and true to form he got them down to 15th before nearly being sacked  he had a strong run in the CL though and got to the semi finals and lost to Valencia who actually won it. Strange how that goes.

I just had a very reasonable £81m bid for Neymar accepted. However he doesn't think the reigning European and World Club Champions that won the Premier League 2 days before with 3 games to spare and are about to take on Real Madrid in the semi's of this years CL(Barca are out and Real are going to win the league) match his ambitions. Strange lad.
