Gaming Football Manager 2014

I think badmouthing Chesney has put me in the goalkeeper gods bad books. My first choice out for 11 months with a cruciate. Managed to get Tremmel from Swansea, though I had to give him too much wage tbh.

Ravel Morrison is available on a free at start of 3rd season. Scouts give him 5*. I'm in the Championship, looking to get promoted. Is he worth it, or does he turn out a bit shit?

He certainly has the potential to be class, depends on how close he is to it at that point, tbh.

I signed him for Arsenal once, and despite Ozil's stats being worlds better, he instantly displaced him.

Early doors in my Southampton save but it's going well. Going to try and keep a heavy English/British base to the squad, currently 11 out of 18 qualify.

It gets hard, when you have ambitions. I think English is a minority language within my Southampton squad.

I'll give it a good go, already got the likes of Shaw, Clyne, Chambers, Ward-Prowse & Lallana who are quality and got years left. Hoping to add to it with the likes of Hughes, Sturridge (usually gets listed after a while), Smalling, Barkley, Caulker & Butland.

Aye, but expect Shaw and the rest of the bunch to cry once the offers from the big boys are in. I managed to keep all but Shaw, but only because I refused to sell even when they threw a tantrum.

Just recently started a game with Royal Antwerp in the Belgian 2nd division. My mum's home town team who used to have glory days a loong time ago, but have been up and down between the first and second division the past 10 years.

HORRIBLE finances, you basically have no wage budget when you start, and around £1k transfer budget. The club's worth is around £3m and you have a debt of £12m that you have to start repaying instantly.

PROs: They have two really good partnerships in Sao Paolo & Manchester United. I've yet to get any players from Sao Paolo since they don't seem to want to come, but David Petrucci & Tom Lawrence are doing great for me. It's a hard league to play in without a budget since you need to have 6 players in your squad who are home-grown, and you don't really get that many in your starting squad. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who is their manager in reality signed a whole bunch of players when he took over who strain the budget a bit. Focus on youth is hard since they have horrible facilities. Will try to kick on this season and aim to remove some of the top earners in the window. Top half finish.

Playing a narrow DM-diamond, based on not losing more than winning. Pre-season went all right. Lost to Zenit, Hoffenheim & Düsseldorf narrowly, won against Parma 3-0 and drew Olympic Marseille 0-0.

At 6th place in the league after half a season due to drawing 7 (!!) games in a row 1-1. Every game I have about 5 clear cut chances, so obviously I need to work on my strikers.

So far a really interesting game!

Sealed promotion the the 2nd div with Leipzig in 29 games, and sealed the title in 30.

Considering dropping my WM's to DML/R's, as I may need the defensive solidity to keep up.

Btw anyone ever got Tomás Martínez before? The guy never popped up on my radar but his attributes are pretty amazing. Too lazy to take a SS right now but for the highlighted attributes for Advanced Playmaker - Attack he has all attributes on at least 17. Didn't have to pay much for him either 6,25M € + the amount of money his agent was due. He is 25 in 2020 and starts for River Plate it seems.
Had multiple chances to sign him on a Bosman but he always chooses Barca's offer despite them never playing him. He's not that necessary to me that I'll push the boat out for him though.

Has anyone managed Sunderland? I'm tempted to try them, I don't like it at Espanyol that much and I got bored of La Liga, Sunderland seems like a good place to be.

I'd like to make them into a new Everton - a tough team who competes against the odds and manages to finish top half each season. The foundations are decent.

Tomas Martinez is quite good. Has instantly come in and made the AM slot his taking over from Biteco. A much smarter player I feel, takes the correct decisions, knows when to shoot, when to pass and when to dribble. Also has great vision and a good shot in him.

Will sell on Biteco in the next window or end of season. Should get 10mil for him.

That one game! Aggggh! Thought I had the season cracked.... was before sealing promotion too.

Wow. That's quite brilliant mate.

And has anyone played with Taider before? Got him for free start of 4th season and the lad's a fecking beast.

Cheers, quite delighted really, just that one game, grrr! Need to tighten up, and get some better wide players, though.

Taider? Does he start at an Italian team?

Saphir Taider.

And Yes, at Bologna. In my save, Inter purchased him at the start. 2 seasons there and 1 at Bologna before I signed him for free. Comfortably better than the Romeros as box to box, that should say it all . And still just 24.

I'm sure I had him on a save, very well rounded.

Everton have become a graveyard for strikers on my save. Berbatov, Eto'o, RVP to name a few who joined in their last seasons.

I'm currently doing a save with Everton and am going rather well. My big two signings were Daniele Rugani from Empoli (had to pay £1m compensation) and Lucas Romero who despite not being a goal scoring midfield, this lad averages 8 every game.

Won the premier league in my second season with Southampton and the Europa Cup. My tactics and those I signed for the second season were just blitzing teams. Beat Real Madrid 5-0 (still got knocked out of CL after finishing 3rd), Manchester United 4-0 and Chelsea 4-1. I took the Manchester United job though just because Moyes had done shite and they were had finished 7th (sounds familiar). Only a few games into my 3rd season now as United manager and so far so good. Signed Moura and made them adapt to 4-2-3-1 was all I really changed.

Going to try and spend a couple of years at each place and win the league in a lot of different countries. Although saying that, a huge part of the game for me is developing a player and seeing the team progress... so I might become attached to someone/somewhere.

Shaw's just be done over by Stoke, cruciate ligament and 9 months out.

Bastard.

He's actually an Inter Milan player in real life. They bought him last summer for €5.5 million.

This game is still buggy even after three patches, I'm still getting totally bugged out defensive errors from all my defenders and wingers no matter how many times I tell them to shoot less often always cross from deep and then shoot at the byline. Urgh.

Picked this lad up on a free, Ass Man says Bundes quality, 4.5* CA, and can improve.

This is my current fellow, Swansea's backup, IRL.
Tremmel_zps3523a606.png

Spoilt for choice between the sticks.

Brought in a striker/winger(to play MCL) on a loan(with purchase option), and a defender who's contract was almost up on a free. Sold about 750-800k.

I'd have liked to heavily strengthen, but all I have to do this season is consolidate a position in the league. I should be well strong enough for that, and a lot of my players are young with potential.

It's really fecking annoying. They shoot from impossible angles despite the ''shoot less often'' instruction when their teammates are perfectly positioned in the box just waiting for that simple pass. It's predictable, annoying and not realistic at all. Just like skying headers from point blank range or when defending set pieces, the players are always ''clearing'' the ball either centrally pointlessly inviting pressure again or into a throw-in when there's no pressure from the opposition.

Players are often greedy in real life but no one is wasting every fecking chance to pass the ball by brainlessly shooting it with zero chance of it being on target.

I know, and there's no movement at all, they just stand there and passes get bloody intercepted all the time. Also the amount of times goalkeepers get beat at the near post is beyond annoying, and I've also seen since the update that every corner I have taken the opposition line five players in a line and almost always get the ball out. While my centrebacks head the ball into side netting from free headers, every single time! Also they can't play out of defence to pass a ball, they get pressured when there is none and just long ball it into an opposition player.

The match engine is hilariously shit. I can also add to these some more:
1) When defending corners aimed at the GK area or far post, more than one CPU players are trying to clear the ball at the same time (which makes zero sense) and when one of them clears it (to the center of the penalty area), 4-5 of my players are waiting for the ball completely unmarked. Happens way more often for it to be a coincidence. Just a CPU bug I guess.
2) The goalkeepers are refusing to come out of their GK areas. I remember a long ball into the opposition half that my striker couldn't reach immediately and the ball went to the penalty area. The CPU keeper had all the time in the world to get to the ball and then maybe go get some fecking coffee before my striker could even reach it but nope, the keeper just stood there motionless, my striker got to it and scored.
3) The keepers are also refusing to intercept crosses and they're never covering the near post.

I sometimes see the keepers getting a cross, but its usually them deflecting it as if they nearly scored. EVERY time, if its not been blocked or kicked into row Z they have to make a hollywood save for a crappy cross. Also, defenders can't defend through balls at all, as well as wingers when they play in the AM position just refuse to track back. So many problems they have refused to fix, yeah I said it, they refuse!!

Yeah, both of these happen ridiculously often. The defenders are suddenly freezing so that the long ball could reach the striker and make absolutely no effort to reach the ball. They just freeze, refuse to jump for a header or just completely misjudge the ball by either not moving at all or moving forwards when the ball is quite obviously going over them.

The marking is atrocious as well. I have been even finding myself getting annoyed by goals scored by my team just because of the constant unrealistic CPU brainfarts. Something like ''Yeah, my team scored, but what the feck was that?!''

Fullbacks just let the wingers run past them, when they could easily stop them.

Anyone else find that the keepers give the ball straight to opposition strikers right from a goal kick pretty often? Really annoying, especially when it happens in cup finals.

This will be your 2nd season right? So in Bundesliga 2. The squad is good enough to get promoted directly again. Frahn and Poulsen will bang in the goals.

On my FC Paris 2000 save I managed to get Andreas Pereira from Utd, and Mats Moller Daehli on free transfers  Love a good freebie

They're not supposed to, in the AM position they're considered pure forwards. Though I find with high work rates they do drop back.

Yeah, 2nd season, in the Bundesliga 2. I hope I do get promoted again, would be delightful.

Dropped out of the cup first game again. 2-2 against Ausberg, 3-3 in extra time, and Frahn missed his peno(though he did score one peno(two goals total) during regular play. They were down to 10 men too, wasted opportunity.
