Gaming Football Manager 2010

Managed to survive my first season in League 1 by the skin of my teeth.

Watford down to League 2 !? What happened there? They always find a way back into the Prem in my games.

A potential game ruiner, I am sick of unrealistic confidence levels that don't take into consideration your finances and club reputation.

Agreed, it's a huge pissoff

My Southampton team is cruising - after starting with a 10 point deduction I'm now 5 points off the top sitting in second place at the turn of the year. Saganowski has calmed down a bit (he scored a hat trick in four games in a row in November, but now he's just getting singles and braces), and my other main striker, Dave Mooney has hit overdrive and is now scoring for fun. Disaster struck when, just as one of my better strikers, Rickie Lambert, came back from 4 months out with a muscle tear, my right winger and leading assister Alan Quinn boke his foot and is out for three months. I've switched Lallana back to the right wing from the left, but I'm playing a not very good reserve team player on the left so I may invest in January. My first choice team looks like

Mooney ..... Saganowski
Lallana ........................................ Quinn
Damien Johnson ....... Dean Hammond

Harding .. Malago .. Jaidi .. Parnarby
Davis

Bold are my signings.

Got myself a damn good regen in my Basel save - he's already one of the best defenders in the Swiss League. Just need to work on his strength a bit. Thank you Ed Van Stijn.

No fecking idea mate, but City have won the league 4 times in a row whilst United struggle to make the CL places anymore.

I do think the top clubs need to invest in better replacements for their players.

Guys, can anyone point me to a torrent or something with where I can download this game and install it without being a computer genius.

The downloads I've done so far have failed, so I'd love if anyone could help me out.

Oh yay I'm at the lovely point in my game where the tactics that had me beating most sides 5 - 0 barely a month ago have suddenly stopped working.

In response to this I've brought in Kakuta and a Spurs CB Dorian Dervite on loan to try and shore things up (Dervite because my best CB said he needed an extended break, and Kakuta to play on the left because my main LW is now playing on the right because my normal RW has a broken foot).

Bloody FIFA fecking banned Kakuta until the end of the season so I shipped him back off to Chelsea. Have renewed some of my mid level stars contract so I can ship them off for added transfer money in the summer.

I'm currently sitting in 5th with a game in hand, with most of the league having played 40 games. I think I can get up to 2nd (4 point gap) in the next six games (this is all after the 10 point deduction that Saints got for going bust remember)

Just started a game with Porto.

Brought in Jádson for 5million. Squad looks a bit...shit in areas...might wait till january and splash some cash and grab some brazilians on frees.

I'll repeat this request.

Would love some help in form of a PM.

Ah, you haven't lived until you see Chelsea docked 10 Coca Cola Championship points for going into administration.

And Liverpool relegated.

And Arsenal. Although for that you have to wait a very long time and continue to sell them your aging players for a king's ransom. 31-year olds for 40-50 million over two decades will do it.

So for my second season at Palermo I've just signed up: Sandro and Poli, both extremely talented young midfielders who are ready to step into the squad rotation/full team.

So in full I signed Neymar, Sandro and Poli for a total of 38 million, to be paid over the next four seasons.

Strangely I was only given a measly one million for my transfer budget this time around, after having qualified for the CL. Only to have it bumped up by another 11 million a few weeks later........... Strange.

I feel like I'm building a future fantasy footy side though:

Miccoli - Cavani

Pastore

Annan - Montolivio

Sandro

Renan - Bovo - Kjaer - Cassani

Rubinho

Subs: Hernandez, Neymar, Blasi, Tore Rignusson (sp), Balzaretti/Corschia (sp), Migliaccio (sp), Poli

Not too bad at all, especially after one full season!

Hey mate I'll sort this out for you tomorrow, I'm going to bed right now - got to be up in a few hours.

I'm shit with computers and I got it running, so I think you'll be fine.

I've lived several times then!

I wonder if we should tell Chelsea fans that Roman does indeed ditch the club.

On a related note I probably shouldn't mention that SAF is still managing United at the age of 100.

Finally secured second place and automatic promotion to the Championship. I'm now attempeting to feck off the shit squad players to free up some wages and increase my transfer money, but the greedy bastards don't want to go!

Graeme Murty, my aging backup right back, wants me to pay him 2700 a week compensation because he earned 3200 a week with me, after he'd agreed a 1500 a week deal with PNE. Don't think I don't realise you're wanting to make a grand a week profit off me you little bastard.

Oh i've seen it in previous versions, the most insane one I remember was in 2008 when I was Aston Villa, United dropped to to League 2 in 5 seasons after they went into admin... Players bought left, right and center (Rooney, Ronaldo, Carrick, Nani, etc) and only 5% of transger revenue was made available to Mourinho and co.

We're doomed.

Since murder is out of the question maybe we should buy the Glazers some lottery tickets and hope they hit it big.

Ah, old games...

In my FM 2008 game, Manchester United are finally back in the Premier League after a decade or so, and my on-loan goalkeeper there is giving them the 3rd or 4th best defensive record in the league despite being predicted to go down - they're 9th and sniffing around a UEFA Cup place although I think they won't make it - the reason being is that they have the 2nd worst attacking record in the league, 2nd to 20th place. 30 scored, 32 conceded - pretty impressive either way. Glazers are gone but the debt remains - although it's down to a sizeable level and a tiny wage budget with some sensible spending has meant that their rise has been inevitable, if slow. Depending on who they get between the posts next season, I think consolidation is a sensible target to aim for.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have gone into meltdown, spluttering around in the Championship and predicted to go back down to League One. They haven't been in the Premier League for ages and they recently managed to concede over 100 goals in the Championship, finishing last. Their debt is down to a sensible level but their income is terrible. Bouncing between leagues is a sensible target for them.

Chelsea are up and down - relegated once but somehow finishing 6th a season after coming back.

Arsenal are too good - the lowest they've finished ever is 6th. Back on top of the Premier League after they spent £43m on a winger/striker - a former player of mine, and I had a 50% sell-on clause! And he's not worth £43m, not at all.

Probably the most staggering thing is that Milan are in Serie C1/A and in the playout spots (i.e. relegation playoffs). Their fall has been gentle but silly as their squad has been solid but their managers terrible.

Barcelona are in Segunda and hovering above relegation, although I think they'll be safe.

Real Madrid dominate La Liga. It's silly how they got there though - they were relegated a few seasons ago and got promoted again - finishing 4th! Now they've got a striker who has a whopping 43 goals in all competitions halfway through the season. A former player of mine...

I've also decided to give a go with United now.

Rooney is a beast scoring in almost every game. Missed out on Jovetic and the guy signed for City, got Vargas from Fiorentina through and his made the left wing spot his own. Neville playing for England. Just made a superb come-back in the Champions league being 2-0 behind away at Sporting, won 3-2 with the last kick of the game and now qualified for the play-offs. Picked up Canalas and Muniani on the cheap. Even Anderson has scored. Valencia is awesome on the right wing. Owen has a bit of Ole in him. Fun stuff.

Just started my first season in the Championship with Southampton with a 0 - 0 draw with PNE. fecked off most of the squad over the summer, and the starting lineup now contains only 3 players that I started with. Apparently I'm quite likely to get promoted, or so the betting people tell me - I fecking hope that's the case, because most of my key players are on loan from elsewhere and I don't think they'll be coming back for another go in the championship next season.

Defenitely, eventhough in my game i only ever bring him off the bench and only has around 15 mins at the most to make an impact, he normally gets me a goal virtually everygame. 16 sub appearences and 9 goals is a superb return.

Started playing this on the weekend and mostly I'm impressed with the improved animation in the 3D match engine, quite sexy tbh.

Plus, youth development seems to be accelerated which is great. I modified/added like 200 U16 players, giving them 160-200 potential ability and 90 current ability. Some of them are just about breaking into the first teams in the second season, but in previous versions they were more likely to sit in a reserve team for 20 years and end up on 130 CA, never coming close to their potential even if they were at a top club.

One guy I added, a 16 year old Scottish striker that I had transferred to West Ham, popped up as a substitute and scored twice against me

CL Final against Pool

Won 3-1

The football from my team was exceptional, Gourcuff is just bloody brilliant on this game. A must buy for any top team.

Having solved my slowness problem I now have more enthusiasm for this game. Am going to continue my Championship journey after being promoted from League One. Last time I played I quit in disgust after losing my first four games

Somethings are just never meant to be  Atleast we finally got a Chelsea boy being the new scape goat..

Football Manager knows all for real!

Update on my Rochdale game... having survived the division on the penultimate day of the season, realised it was a massive rebuilding job. Unfortunately I had no money... but an Italian club came in for my star striker Willy Topp, £1.1million. The board actually took it out of my hands and accepted, but it was great. I only get a small proportion, 20%, but I sold a couple more of my better players including Salifou, and got a better percentage from that, so I had half a million spending budget. I brought some new blood in, and I've also brought in a lot of loan defenders from Premiership clubs

Change wasn't immediate, still conceeded a lot of goals first few games of the season. But much better now, I even went three games on the trot not conceding. Am 4th in League 1 after 15 games now, have only lost two games. And as a bonus, I just put ten past Southport in the FA Cup first round. Things are looking up :)

I've decided that 'Overload' on this game essentially means 'Do feck all, please'.

You have to stick six up front and pump it in for it to be any use I find. And then obviously you're light at the back. As it should be though really, that's the risk

I've gone from scoring plenty but conceeding shitloads, to scoring bugger all but being water tight at the back! Halfway through the season, I have the best away form in the league, but 0-o draws at home are holding me back. Still, am 4th, my summer overhaul and tactic change has worked a treat

This game has become unplayable with the corner bug and the striker bug.

When is the new patch supposed to be released, after the transfer window? I can hold out til then...

I really wonder if SI actually tests the patches before they release them.

Honest to god, I wish I could revert to the old patch and just deal with the silly little bigs the game has as opposed to this... It would take 2 or 3 matches to realise that Wayne Rooney can't score on 20 fecking breakaways, yet Darren Fletcher scores hat tricks over and over and Jonny Evans has 10 goals on the season in October.

feck me

I heard March, although here's hoping sooner.

Jesus that would be a long time... SI will have seriously fecked up if this isn't addressed sooner, I don't know why it's not a big issue on the message boards, there's usually 2 or 3 threads per page about it, with maybe a half dozen posts of "try this" and they never work

Yeah, there is a problem with pretty much all strikers who "shoot with power" I don't think they are very accurate and its probably an attempt of some sort by S.I. to curb the long shot bug. If I could get Rooney to agree to drop that action and pass the ball into the net he would score a shed load of goals for my united side.

If I can find the time i'll probably post a thread on the S.I. forums within the next couple of days suggesting a better way that they can play test as it shouldn't take 4-5 months after release and 3 patches to get it right.
