Gaming Football Manager 2010

Ffs, I'm 75k UNDER my wage budget and want to sign Brian McClair as my first team coach. He wants 10k a week (easily affordable) but its only letting me offer £5,250. I mean wtf? Surely there is something I can do?

It's ELEVEN games since I conceeded less than two goals in a game!

I've conceeded more goals than all but one team in the league

Yet I'm in the Johnston Paints semi final (having conceeded twice in every game, falling behind in all) and am still only 6 points off the playoffs

Board are only giving me 5% of transfer revenue. Thankfully looks like I've identified a good free transfer signing, but it's hard work with no money to try and throw at the problem. Clearly my defensive staff just aren't up to it

I joined Man Utd from AC Milan in the 4th season and despite being given a £55 million war chest and flogging some players for £40 odd million the club now loses atleast £10 million a month and my current balance will go red next month. I am trying that win 5 domestic titles in 5 different countries achievement I managed the first with Milan after 2 seasons.

I have had this same problem with my united game(joined them from Ajax) had to sell Nani for 19mil to inter just to stay out of the red despite not wanting to(he was excellent in my narrow 4-2-3-1 formation as an AM).

when I joined we were only in the europa cup despite finishing 4 before I joined as Man city had just won the champions league(I blame myself for this as they beat my Ajax side 1-0 on aggregate in the Champions league QF).

I still won the league and Carling Cup in my first season, lost the FA semi final and got knocked out by barca in the Europa cup semi.

I just wondered are you in or out of the Champions league when you are losing 10 mil a month?

Get in! A fecking clean sheet! Against Bury to boot. My new defender Tudor-Jones playing on debut, and I savaged my keeper and the other centre half before the game. Slight tactical tweak to boot... job done

I was 2-0 in the 90th minutes, but I was sweating on that clean sheet as if I was 1 nil up in the last minute of the cup final!!!

In and now an away trip at Real Madrid carrying a goal lead from the final. I am now losing between £7-12 million a month depending on the amount of home games I get, and the balance just tipped to -£9 million. I was looking back over the clubs transfer history and despite a few bizzare buys there havent been massive outlays, its just the non-footballing costs and wage budget thats taking it down. £4.3 million a month on wages which is steep but not anything big by big clubs standards.

I think I am gonna jump ship after 1 season, I won the league at the first attempt, good chance of the CL too and a league cup in the bag. Off to Scotland for my next challenge I reckon.

£4.3 million a month on wages

It's possible to be a big club and have a sub 1 mill/month wage bill. At least in FM09. But you have to start early on, before wages spiral out of control. (i.e. Key Players capped at 60-70k, senior KPs (ages 29-32) at 85k, First teamers at 35-45k, rotations at 15-20k) Do this and you can field a 23-25 man squad for around 800-900k/week and still compete easily on all fronts.

If a player demands more money, try choosing the stonewall option. A lot of times the player will back down providing they're within the proper wage range relative to their teammates with similar ability.

Another trick is that you can set a player's squad status to 'not needed' and he'll accept a lower wage than what he was demanding.

For the sake of the club's long-term financial health, it's also good policy to sell your better players on while they still have good value. Selling your 30-31 year olds for 20-30 mill+ helps a lot, and if you're running your youth/reserve teams well you'll always have replacements at the ready.

If you're running your youth/reserve teams extremely well you can have a 15-18 man first team and a 700k wage bill (first-team cover coming from the youth/reserves); again, all while remaining competitive.

Put the picture back away... Stack who has just come back from a several month injury, just did himself for another several month injury in training :annoyed:

With the transfer window open I managed to pick up a 39 year old Carlo Nash for 4k (half my transfer budget!), signed until the end of the season, see if he can do any better

Anyone? :(

Have you checked your budget adjustment?

Perhaps you've just got too many coaches and they're not keen on another?

Aye, sounds like you have too many coaches already. I'm pretty sure that the coaches wages don't come out of your player wage budget - Try sacking your worst coach :)

The coach wages always piss me off to no end. Every year when renewing contracts they all seem to want significant increases. Some will lower their demands once there is only 3 months left on the contract but most won't.

Just started a new United game yesterday. Bought a young DM called Omar Benzerga (i think) and Oscar Cardozo. Fans love em both, trying to convert Ronaldo to a striker as i'm not playing with much width.

2nd in the table, with my midfield of Hargreaves-Fletcher-Carrick-Anderson doing pretty damn well. Cardozo has also made a neat partner for Rooney, Tevez might be on the way out next summer.

Got ten million to spend, any suggestions for a young prospect at AMC?

Mis type?

Oh and Gourcuff is 22 at the start of the game will turn in to the best AMC in the game in a couple of years. Although, you need to spend around 20m - try get rid of Park, Macheda/Nani etc to raise funds.

I assume you're playing 09, not 10?

If so, Dzagoev is a great AMC.

Yeah didn't realise this was a seperate thread for 2010. I'll give that guy a look.

Pretty nippy 15 year old fullback I've just signed, great stats for his age, he's not long 15 too...

Managed to get St Albans into League 1 from Blue Square South in 5 seasons. Pretty good effort but now I'm just really bored of it, damn game just doesn't grip me like it used to.

AlwynP in which year are you playing ? I'm playing my third season and I haven't found him in the Stade Rennais -18 nor in their reserve. I haven't found him using the research fonction either.

Yeah he's a regen. I'm in 2011/2012.

About to finally start my first game after finishing my db. Going to manage United (I've created a complete meltdown scenario with players retiring and getting sold off which should be fun), Sampdoria and Cruzeiro.

Just about to start, I've got a half star on estimated game speed despite 5 stars on pc specs, 249000 players to be loaded with the recommended number 125000. Wonder if it's going to be playable ...

Swap Perth Glory into it ;)

Seriously? Try Southampton.

 clearly if I play for them in BAP in FIFA 10 it would be a conflict of interest to manage them in FM2010

I will consider Southampton. I don't think I can do Southend again, because after a quick look at their squad on wikipedia I dont think I can handle fecking off all of their shit players again.

My goalkeeper scored from a free kick way behind the halfway line. That's a first for me.

Goalkeepers scoring from freekicks happens all the time when you're playing in division 12 or whatever it was.

Hehe, just realised, my centre half pairing is Tudur-Jones and Archibald-Henville, not too often you get a double-double barrelled pairing at the back!!!

6-2-3-1. It's all the rage.

Holy smoke. Fingers crossed he actually develops.

The game i started with United lasted 8 games and my save got corrupted, strange. Luckily i had another saved copy but this was saved only on the july 10th so i had to bring in the transfers again.

I bought in Jovetic, Navas, Gourcuff (20m each) - De Rossi (45m) and Adler (17.5m). Gourcuff is just sensational once he gest used to the sorroundings.

Got rid off Fletcher, Madrid came calling - strangely enough.. (23.5) and Berba went after i transfer listed him and Man City were interested which meant for me to cash in on 21.5m and Park went for around 7.5m. Welbeck and Macheda had to go as the scout reports were they would potentially be someway off Rooney's standard. Welbeck for 10m (Chelsea) and Macheda (9.5m) to Napoli.

I am on a 14m winning run after starting slowly with a goal or two in games but now with Rooney and Gourcuff being the core of the team and now De Rossi and Anderson coming good in midfield - they are battering every team in their sight.

Well, that's not a good move at all. 99% on players in the world are someway off Rooney's standard.

You don't understand, his current ability is that he isn't anywhere near Rooney's ability and potentially won't even come close to rooney (according to my scout anyway) and 10m was too good to reject.

Good lord this game is weird.

I'm doing okay with United, 7 matches in im a point up on Chelsea without defeat.

In Europe I'm 1-0-0 after winning my qualifiers.

I'm about to play Chelsea in the 3rd round of the Carling Cup, shucks.

The thing is, Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero have been oft injured, have a goal between them, and a 6.50 average combined... Darren Fletcher has 6 goals, including a hat-trick and double against Arsenal and CSKA... This bug is actually quite the piss off

x42bn6, is it possible to increase the chance of the Glazers fecking off?

Do badly? You might get fired first though...

There's no real way to force a takeover without FMRTE, sadly.

The good news is that in this patch if you do well sometimes the Glazers will expand the stadium which adds a couple more million to your monthly income (I got an expansion to 91,000 or something), and still a decent transfer budget.
