Football Manager 2008

Okay, didn't get the start I wanted with Aston Villa.

Managed to buy Samba (2,2M), Liédson (8M) and Van der Vaart (15M).

fecking Fergie wouldn't let me loan Ando and Nani.

First game: away to Shitty, lost 3-0

Second game: home against Chelsea, had them all game. Refused to back down and settle for a draw and conceded in the 93rd minute to lose 0-1, Malouda.
 
Just bought the game today, it was £20 and I already had a £20 GAME card that i got for Christmas so all good :)

Some of the stuff I've read on here seems to imply you can play the same season online with your mates? Is this true? Like I pick one team he picks another and we both play the same season?
 
Finding the whole thing a bit complicated at the moment
 
I won the League and Cup with Milan. Lost in the second round of the champions league to Chelsea. Just starting Pre-season and Pato is feckin class.

Third game: away to Liverpool, brought the game to them. They couldn't brake us down until Lowry got himself sent off in the 77th minute. Pool piled the pressure and later scored an offside goal via Kuyt. Not deserved

Last in the Premiership, GD: 0-5
 
I know, 3 games 3 losses, no goals scored.

We've been playing good though, we'll climb soon.

My mate on the other hand has kicked off pretty well with Everton. I'm 6 points adrift :(

Its quite extensive and tiring after just a few hours tbh..

I still haven't got grip of the scouting system in it.I mean why can't I read scouting reports for players like in Football Manager?There is also no team report.Or assessment of the current players young or first team by the assistant manager.The scouting lists gets updated with random players but I can't really find if they are good or not as there is no fcking report.

If you have played it can you help?
 
I'm playing Sunderland in an online game at the moment.

Finished the first season in 13th after battling for 8th place just a few weeks before the end. The players cracked so I dropped down a bit. Could have played the Intertoto Cup if I had stayed up there.

It all went wrong at Stamford Bridge. I was in the lead 0-1 and in control of the game. Then I got a red card and it went to 1-1 almost instantly. Like in a dream I took the lead again 1-2, I did some subs to get my players behind the ball and then Fm decided I had enough fun, injured a player and all my subs were used, so I was basicly on the pitch with 9 players, defending a lead at the Bridge. Needless to say I lost 3-2 with a last minute goal. I was on my way to a double over the Renties, I won at home 2-1 against them.

Second season hasn't been all that great either, but I'm playing better now the last 4 matches, winning 2-0 against Arsenal in the last one. Back in 13th position. Sunderland board demand Uefa Cup next season. :nervous:
 
Just left Nuneaton as they were going back down to the Blue Sqauare North, I then got offerd the Rochdale job who were 2nd in the Blue Square Prem and going up to League 2, so I won the play-offs and got promoted, i bought the likes of Kevin Davies (my star player) Robbie Savage, Marcus Bent and James Beatie all on frees and got realy good loans from United, im 11 games and am 4th in the league 2 points off top! im in 2010 i think
 
Buying old players isnt the best way to go about things if you manage a lower league club, you need young players who can improve through the league's at each level and most importantly be assets to the club. With young players you can sometimes get big bids from other clubs. When I was in league 1 with Kettering I managed to sell 2 players for a combined total of 9 million (Nejc Pecnik + Pablo Herrera), helped me out no end when trying to buy players that could bring success in the championship, which is much greater than league 2 and 1.

Sorry cant help, just went into the game and the scouting really is a mess. When you start a new game make sure it's possible to see talent stars and level or it's impossible to find players. I usually sign players that have 4 stars and hope that they turn good....
 
I got 40mil to spend and I need a CB to replace Nesta. I bid 20m for Corluka who can play there but it got rejected.
 
Started a game with Boston Utd, just to see how it'll be in such a low league. But I set my experience as "international footballer". Got offered the Villa job at the end of december first season. Finished the season as 10th and here around november in the second I'm 4th after a long period with Chelsea chasing me.

How do you guys play United? I've beaten the other top 4 clubs but can't get my way against United

Try criscito, garay, or zapata, all young CBs who are usually pretty good
 
What a fecking signing Samba has been.

He just headed 2 goals in the last minutes to earn me a 2-3 victory at Goodison.

Fifa Manager is too exhaustive and time consuming.It has just too many things to do in the game.

It has 3D matches and attractive presentation.

But You will be bored after a few matches or a season.
 
So what clubs are you lads playing with and who are your first team players?

I'm playing with Nottingham Forest and I've managed to win promotion two seasons on the trot. I'm currently 8th in the Premiership and have scored more goals than any other team but I tend to concede quite a lot, usually in the second half. I obviously haven't fully grasped half-time team talks or one of my players is guilty of switching off and costing us precious points!

Anyway, this is my current Nottingham Forest first team:

I'm playing as Swansea, took me 3 years to get into the Prem and i'm struggling after the first 10 games i'm in 17th.

I tend to have a big squad so swap players about a lot but this is my first XI I suppose

He was a great player for the lower leagues. I signed him for a free when I was managing Bari - in Serie B, he was brilliant. Along with GK Eros Corradini (who becomes world class, I have since resigned him for United for £30m) I also had good service from Victor Moses AM, Sone Aluko AML/FC, Felipe Da Costa AMC/L and David Redzepi DC. You can pick them all up for peanuts or on a free, but most can't really cut it if you are in the Prem.
 
feckING HELL!!! i installed the game and ran it then i decided to quit it to look for a no cd crack but there was no ican on the desktop. i searched for it and its like i haven't installed as apparently it doesn't exist on my computer. i tried to install it again but its not working!!!! feck it im gonna play 2007
 
How do I play the same season with someone else online?
