Football Manager 2008

You need to have a work permit feeder club in place before you sign them.

To get one, request a feeder club from your board and if given the option choose work permit feeder club.

wow, for someone whos been playing FM for quite a while I really didnt notice this feature

Cheers!

Only way to get around them is get a feeder club to send then to.

Just beat Valencia in the uefa cup, beat then 2-1 at home then played some anti football for the 0-0 away, got PSG next.

How do you manage to play anti-football without conceding?

My Atletico team have conquered all comers but when I tried to play antifootball away at Juve we lost 5-1! Think I'll stick to my attacking philosophy

I played 5-2-2-1, mentality was defensive and counter attacked, to be honest i dont think it really worked, they had about 13 shots on target. My keeper was just inspired.

Surely some match fixing down at Uefa towers.

how do you get the taskbar showing whilst playing fm? i've been wondering for a while because i'm normally having a conversation on msn at the same time so i keep having to press the windows button :(

Go to preferences, then display and sound, untick full screen, tick reload skin on confirm and click confirm.

Thats it i think, can't remember though.

Yeh, that's the way to go. Play it in a window, enlarged to the size of the screen.

I've never done a network game, how does it work?

Exactly the same as single player, but you have to wait for all players to continue to advance to the next day/part of the day.

It's more fun, but slower and more time consuming. I've only ever played with one person simply cause playing with multiple could take forever.

You can't beat a good transfer session with mates though, especially ones that know nothing about football and the true value of their players.

Id be interested in some form of mass network game if it wasn't taken seriously in terms of having to play a specific times every day or whatever. Although i do have alot of time on my hands now i've finished uni for the summer, which helps.

Do you think we'd get enough for a whole league? That could be interesting, but at the same time, take about 10 years to complete a season.

More realistic to get between 5 - 10 i think.

The only way you could do it and make it run like a normal game would be for the host to use the force continue option and take it off at the start of each transfer window for around 20 minutes. The host also needs a good fast computer.

If you did it that way you could run a full league of people I guess?

Force continue would be fair i suppose. That way if people left the computer unexpectedly we wouldn't be waiting a very large period of time for them to come back, and the computer basically takes control of their team while they are not playing, so it's not all bad. If we even managed to get a full league we'd have a huge argument over teams. God help the poor sod that gets landed with Derby (which aren't actually as bad on the game as they are in real life.)

Boo ya. Just won the coca cola championship. Lost on the last day of the season but so did Sheffield United. Made a few signing and ive got 7 points after 4 games of the season.

Stancu, Dong (yes Dong, had him on loan last season and he netted 20 goals and has already got 4 this season), Hoyte and a few others. All going pretty well. As long as i can stay up. I really wanted to work my way up this time i played. I almost always start as United. Id like to actually be offered that job.

Oh and Fergie got sacked and Lippi is manager of United.

I haven't played football manager properly since the old CM days but went out a few months ago and treated myself to FM08.

Played as United in my first game. Did alright, winning the league and the league cup and getting to the CL final in both of my first two seasons but losing the final to Inter and then Chelsea. The third season was my best. Repeated the trick of winning the league and league cup, got to the semi's of the FA cup and won in Europe for the first time. Also managed the Czech Republic through world cup qualifying and all the way to the world cup final where we were roundly thrashed by an excellent Nigeria side. Am now in my fourth season but troubles are setting in. I left the Czech's to take over Italy who are stumbling through their Euro qualifying campaign. Carrick's decided he's gone as far as he can with the club and the newly revived barcodes are sniffing round after him with his contract nearly up and Rooney's out for 8 months with cruciate damage.
Still Lulinha looks to be coming good and has taken Scholesy's starting place and Cesar Villaluz has pushed Ronnie to the left with some top notch performances. John Bostock is knocking on the first team door as well and has scored 6 goals in 10 appearances, most of them off the bench.

Started another game as manager of Watford. Flogged off a load of dead wood and bought in some talented European youngsters. Rene Mihelic looks a find and Marlon King's banging them in up front but we ship quite a few. The January arrival of Cathcart will sort that out I'm hoping.

It's as addictive as I remember.

Okay, I need some advise folks. I'm about to start a save online with a mate, he's Everton and I'm Aston Villa. We're playing for money and I have plans to sign Anderson and Nani on loan. I need more tips on players that might bridge the advantage between mine and Everton's squad.

With villa its worth shoring up the defence, full backs especially. A decent striker and central midfielder could be good depending on your budget. If you get those loan signings then fine but if not then van der vaart is worth a look, and villa might benefit from the likes of defoe. Dunno if thats any help but there you go.

Will try out for Anderson and Nani

then either Martins, VdV, Garay or Kompany

Come on lads.

Read a book, get a girlfriend, get a job, get a first and...

Stop smoking ganja while playing on Football Manager (save it for plane trips and boring holidays).

It will ruin your life, seriously.

Anyways, wait till the new version is out, you must be bored of this one now?

I like the look of this game, was thinking about buying it but it seems a bit silly now what with a new one probably coming out soon, should I?

Get it if it costs £10-£15. The new version won't be out until October I think.

What a game.

I just came back from a 1-4 first leg defeat by Real Madrid in the semi-finals to win 8-5 on aggregate.

They did instil a special United spirit in the game.

Thanks, dad.

Was only mentioning it, i understand as a man of many vices myself that these compulsions are difficult to surmount; in your case spending many hours of your ever so precious life ogling at a computer screen and bathing in the realm of fantasy.

Tis hard, i know, but you must overcome. Sorry, i do not mean to preach.

Frankly, i have moments, or weeks every year that fly straight into this oblivion so i am well qualified to speak of it.
