1 possible suggestion for when we do the whole 5 players at once thing. Rather than pick 5 players, maybe we should pick as a positional priority.
Lets say I hadn't drafted a keeper yet. If I made this list:

1. Donnaruma
2. Messi
3. Neymar
4. Hazard
5. Ronaldo

If somebody also had Donnaruma top of their list and I miss out, I've completely missed out on that position. I could in theory have had Courtois second on my list just in case, but at the same point, I wouldn't want to draft 2 keepers

Instead, I could have had
1a. Donnaruma - 1b. Courtois

This is just a suggestion. Even I am not sure if its better or not yet.
Pros - You are more likely to fill the position you want
Cons - Maybe you lose some of the strategy by doing this

4-2-1-3 DM Wide = 433 with 2 defensive midfielders and 1 central midfielder
4-2-3-1 DM Wide = Classic 4231 but with the midfielders in a defensive role
4-2-3-1 Narrow = The 3 advanced midfielders all play centrally
4-2-3-1 Wide = The more usual 4231 playing with central midfielders and wingers
4-4-2 = Classic 90s football
4-4-2 Diamond = 1 Defensive midfielder, 2 central midfielders, 1 number 10 and 2 strikers
4-4-1-1 = Similar to 442 but one of the strikers plays as a number 10
3-5-2 = 3 At the back, 5 across midfield and 2 strikers
5-3-2 WB = 3 defenders, 2 wing backs, 3 in midfield and 2 strikers

First one is a no-go with it being a wingerless formation and my first two signings being wingers. Second one seems kinda interesting but eh... will see.

You should draft LvG, he'll turn them into wing backs.

No but seriously, there are so many stupid formations. Those two were some of them, especially the latter one. Who would ever play with five at the back and no strikers

If you end up not getting all your players, I'll PM you telling you that you didn't get player X and that you need to find a replacement. You'll then give me another player that will replace player X on your list. In the scenario you mentioned where you missed out on Donnarumma, you'd most likely get Courtois since he'd take up the #1 spot on your list.

Yeah this method is better as you'll only have 4 players you still have a spot for the keeper.
