fecking hilarious, not often you see a yank comedy with such dry subtle humour. The songs are ace but I think it's a great sitcom to, any fans here??

I love it. Shame they seem pretty set on not doing a third series.

They don't really count as yanks if they're from New Zealand, do they?

Yeah I guess not, I just meant for a show produced in USA it surprised me. No third series is a bit gutting, but at least it's two seasons of pure quality.

Its awesome. Seen the whole thing atleast 3 times by now.

They interviewed Rhys Davis (Murray) who said they floated around the idea of doing a movie based on their life in New Zealand before they came to the US. That sounds cool.

Love the show, their music is quite good too but they did a great job creating a mood for this show and sticking by it, dry but evident humor, I love it !

The live show they did for HBO is worth a watch as well. Called "One Night Stand".

They call me the Hiphopopotamus
My lyrics are bottomless...

Gets me every time. Gutted they're not doing a third series

I've only seen a couple of episodes - thought they were good. Their music is hilarious - Foo doo fa fa in particular, being sublimely funny. I don't know how to You tube link, but it is for sure worth a look. Oh, and The Most Beautiful Girl in the Room is also brill.

They said it was difficult coming up with material for the second season, the songs and stuff from the first season they had been doing for a while, at gigs, and I believe on a programme for BBC radio.

The radio show is very good. The first series of the programme was pretty much based on it. Rob Brydon narrates it and they keep hassling Neil Finn (Crowded House) for help. It is probably funnier than the tv show, worth tracking down.

I always liked that and their other live shows better than the HBO show for some reason. I don't know why but the songs seem less scripted even though they're practically the same songs and all the jokes seem a little more impromptu.

Good to hear that they got their break from the BBC radio series. Good comedy used to often start there e.g. HHGTTG

A late comer to this admittedly, but I think it's fantastic, and I hate musical comedy for the most part...there are genuinely some very funny songs, Jermain cracks me up...and I agree about their live stand up stuff, it's actually slightly funnier than the TV stuff

Could've sworn I'd posted in this thread before. Love their show and their live stuff.

They call me the Hiphopapotamus I've got flows that glow like phosphorous poppin' off the top of this asophagus, I'm not a large water-dwelling mammal that moved to the metropolis in order to learn how to break-dance, where'd you get that preposterous hypothesis? Did Steve tell you that?

What kind of rapping name is Steve?

...........................Steve... *pft*

They cut the video too early, one of the best parts in that scene is the robber's puzzled question 'did you do a little dancing and singing there?' I love the way they make their musical world and the real world crash horribly now and then.

My rhymes are so potent that in this small segment I made all of the ladies in the area pregnant
Yes, sometimes my lyrics are sexist, but all you lovely ladies and bitches should know I'm trying to correct this

great show. one of the lads I know saw them in Philly and said they were brilliant.

Murray cracks me up.

one of my personal favs is the episode where they got mugged and Brett did a runner on Jermaine.

The crucial difference between them and something like, Boosh (apart from the casmic difference in funnyness) is the music...it's genuinely very good...I've been listening to this all day and even learned it, I can't get enough of the chorus even though its achingly simple

Love 'em, much better than Boosh in my opinion. I actually laugh whilst watching this. Some of the songs are great, my personal favourite is Bret's got it going on.

"Why can't a hetrosexual guy tell a hetrosexual guy that he thinks his booty's fly?"

Also `If that's what you're into`, there on stage stuff is even better.

Totally agree, was listening to it on my iPod last week and it's just a great song. Really reminds me of something else though and I just cannot put my finger on what it is...

I know exactly what you're saying...it sounds very much like something else, but that could be just because it's so simple, it's just Em, D A

Personally I think it is dull as shit

Thought I was the only one!

Found the show very boring, mildly funny at times and I didn't really like the songs, they were mostly just annoying.

Ha, finally found people who agree with me. I think its incredibly shite. Dont buzz off it at all. Which is strange considering i love mighty boosh and the Tenacious D tv show. This just seems like a horrible mish mash of the two

I absolutely loved this show. Admittedly I couldn't get into some of the songs, but I found it comedy genius as a whole. For the last few months I've been saying Yes in a kiwi accent, imagining how Jermaine would say it, gonna try and slip in a few more over the coming weeks. Try it out, it makes you miss it less.

Great show, having lived in NZ for a few years i find it hilarious. Typical Kiwi Sarcastic/Dry humour - love it!

Cup Roster

Seen both series recently. Brilliant, brilliant show. Shits all over the Mighty Boosh.

The songs in the first series got on my tits a bit but they come across a lot better on the live videos on youtube. The comedy in the second one was better than the first. They seem to be a lot more assured in terms of the mood and dynamic they're trying to capture. I hope they don't make a third one though. The whole absurdist dry humour thing really is restrictive and they're often poised pretty precariously on the edge of funny and tiresome.

I was showing my mate the first few episodes of this the other day after he kept dismissing it as shit without ever seeing it. He was laughing hard at the bit where Jermaine is eating the lunch Brett brought back and finds out it was found on the floor, gets up and hunches over the sink...

Brett: What are you doing?
Jermaine: I was gonna spit it out but I think I'll just eat it
