FIRST NPOWER TEST, LORDS: ENGLAND v INDIA

Nah. Last year we had the hottest summer on record. This year the wettest. We've not had snow in Manchester for years. . . when I was a kid, it used to snow heavily throughout winter. Last winter was probably the mildest, ever. I never once needed to wear anything other than a T shirt. So there's definitely been a change.

Early winter was mild, late winter was fecking freezing. I remember plenty of winters that didn't snow too. I have no doubt global warming is occuring (I doubt how much man is responsible for this), but I think too many weather episodes are wrongly labelled as being due to global warming.

Apparently they've named a start time for the cricket in 20 minutes, astonishing given the pictures I saw earlier

Winter was pretty mild. And I'm talking about the 70's and early 80's. Before you were born, most likely. Used to snow all the fecking time.

As a kid I remember it snowing in June. Probably right about a change over 30-40 years, thought you were saying you'd seen a change in the last few years!

I'll be delighted if there is some play. I'm currently listening to golf on the radio :wenger:

Just in case someone missed it all.

Fall of wickets1-76 (Cook, 14.4 ov), 2-218 (Strauss, 63.6 ov), 3-252 (Vaughan, 76.4 ov), 4-255 (Collingwood, 77.6 ov), 5-272 (Sidebottom, 82.5 ov), 6-286 (Pietersen, 85.1 ov), 7-287 (Prior, 86.3 ov), 8-287 (Tremlett, 86.6 ov), 9-297 (Panesar, 90.4 ov), 10-298 (Bell, 91.2 ov)

From Gareth Evans: "I sometimes wonder when watching cricket what it must be like to be Australian - ie. not absolutely terrified at all times that your team is going to collapse faster than Lindsay Lohan after a night on the tiles. Must be strange."

I reckon India's been cheating.

Anyway. . . I'd like to make Pieterson the scapegoat.

I blame the South African cnut.

Suffice to say, this was not the score I expected to see when I got home tonight.

Interesting bowling 'attack' the Poms have gone in with too. If this was the John Wright era, you'd have backed India to make 700 against this lot on a decent pitch.

That said, they've done pretty bloody well, looking at their figures. The conditions must be a nightmare for the batsmen.

I am backing us to get past England score atleast, but given that we have to bat last on the wicket, we need to have some sort of lead. Wouldn't want to chase anything over 200 in the 4th innings.
