As if a player like Payet would make a challenge like that on a place like that so early in the game if that wasn't Ronaldo. You're naive if you think players aren't more intelligent than that. He knew exactly what he was doing. Not saying he wanted to injure him but the challenge was nasty and intentional.
It was a good and fair tackle.

Ronaldo and finals at Stade de France bring no luck. First 1998 and now this.

Portugal are a vile team full of cheaters and play actors and have gotten to this stage winning just one game in 90 minutes.

Justice?

I agree. He obviously intended to go in hard on him.

Ron Atkinson used to call the 'little reducers', go in hard on the other team's best players early on to reduce their confidence and give them a knock.

He doesn't tend to act up when playing for Portugal for some strange reason ..I hate his antics for Madrid but he v seems the nice guy playing for Portugal

Except against Muller and Germany. But i agree in the rest

When Terry Butcher plays with a bandage around his head, he's "brave". When Ronaldo wants to stay on, his "ego is too big." Hypocrites, you lot.

Payet got the ball, players can injure others unintentionally
Of course Payet didn't want to injure him, but he knew perfectly well what he was doing when he went in so hard like he did even though he got the ball. Wouldn't have happened to any other player than Ronaldo imo.

I think France intended to impose themselves physically on him. There was a heavy aerial challenge by Koscielny as well. Payet went in deliberately harder than necessary
Who decides what is necessary? Was everything the likes of Keane and Gattuso did "unnecessary"? Tough tackling is part od the game.

Cheeky £100 million bid for sissoko?

Outperformed pogba at these euros tbh

If you're portugal and go a couple of goals down, it must take a shit load of self restraint not to spend the rest of the game trying to snap Payet in half.

Full portugal fan now, was 50/50 before but now I hope they win it for Ronaldo

There was nothing in the tackle. Just one of those things.

Don't want to see anyone go off early in a game as big as this.

The caf obsession with Ronaldo is really weird and embarrassing. He left our club 7 years ago ffs! Personally, I hope he never win anything.

I’d be more than fine with him not winning a thing, sucks to leave a final injured though.

Moussa Sissoko's performances in this tournament epitomise why you can't judge a player based on a single international tournament.

If nobody had heard of him, we would have posters wanting to sign him ahead of Matuidi and Pogba.

Feel sorry for him but FFS any other player on the pitch and nobody would give a toss.
It's not particularly weird for people to be disappointed for the guy.

I mean jesus if it was Messi we'd have to put people on suicide watch.

He has probably worked extra hard in the gym too, ready to show his muscles but cant now.

Hope Portugal win now anyway.
