Final: Italy vs England

Perfect half from an England perspective. The defense and midfield have done the job; Shaw has been exceptional as usual, Kane has been fantastic at holding the ball, but Mount and Sterling have been off in their decision making.

Both sets of players falling over at the slightest touch, good to see the ref not buying most of them. Italy will create something in the second half as Mancini will find some way to get more attacks going. Hope England get the second before then.

Mount had been the worst player for England so far I think. So many attacks have broken down with him. Grealish could make a massive impact here.

He's wasted a couple of very good chances with a poor first time ball and both times he's almost hooked it rather than striking it cleanly, but he's done a good job at keeping them from operating in space for the most part

Honestly we have been great. I hope we still bring on more attackers later in the game and kill them off.

Engerland Engerland Engerlaaand..

can’t see Italy scoring to be honest

Italy not used to being 1-0 behind. They lack the cutting edge in attack to score a goal.
Don't underestimate the Italians.
They'll fight tooth and nail but England must not fall so back

To be fair it's way less boring than we all thought.

Still not great, but that early goal has done us a favour for entertainment in the second half as it goes on I feel.
You're looking so dangerous on the counter. Wouldn't be surprised to see another quick start and get a second.

Captain obvious but that was the worst possible thing for Italy. They're doing now what they should have done with the score at 0-0; keeping the ball and making England chase the ball. There's no cutting edge though for Italy.

England deserve the lead.Immobile is god awful. Can't believe I thought he'd have a great tournament.

Did they even touch the ball before the 1-0?

Man would should be aiming to get Rice alongside Pogba for next season.

With our current options it's the best partnership.

If Pogba left Rice and Fred wouldn't be good enough.

The final tends to not be a great game.

The Portugal v France one was boring, as well. The last really entertaining one was probably 2000.

Taking out the emotion of the game it's really been a poor spectacle. No genuine attempts outside of the goal and Chiesa shot. Sterling and Kane have been non-exsistent as have most of the Italian team.

Shout out to Shaw and Chiesa being the best players on the pitch this half.

Mount relatively ineffective out on the left, apart from defensive cover he's not doing much. He's the first I'd bring off in favor of someone who can help ye hold possession and move the ball up the field more. Rice is having a terrific game but he's not the one to do that as much as he has tried.

Kane has been good, Sterling has had moments but could be better.

Back 5 have been tremendous. Philips has been busy.

England doing what we've done in most games this tournament. Making the game comfortable for 70 minutes and forcing the opposition to close us down constantly then bring on someone to have a go at tired legs.

I know why Southgate plays Mount, he gives that work rate and very tactical player, but he's not offering much offensively but I am not sure Southgate will take him out

Mount cannot hold up play and he's finding it hard to be on the half turn. Kane has to drop deep, but if Shaw is playing the ball first time up the pitch to Mount, the ball has to stick to allow Shaw and Kane move up the pitch with Rice behind them.

Mount had been the worst player for England so far I think. So many attacks have broken down with him. Grealish could make a massive impact here.

I just think they haven't come off yet, you can see things what he's been trying to do (linking up with Sterling) and some of the play is impressive.
