Films you don't like, but most praise them, so you wouldn't want to admit it

I detest A Beautiful Mind.

No -- I actually hate it. I hate it, hate it, hate it like I'd hate a Robson biopic starring Ricky Gervais where they got the offside rule wrong, and featured Russell Brand as the frank adult electric penguin of Barcelona.

I've no problem admitting my unadulterated hatred for this disgusting travesty of a film, though. Just needed to mention it.

Pulp fiction. I just hate it. And Good Will Hunting. feck off Matt Damon.

And any hyped movie based on a war. Saving Private Ryan, Apocalypse Now etc

Pulp Fiction is ok, nowhere near as good as I was expecting. Thought Reservoir Dogs was really good though, despite nothing really even happening in it.

Another vote for Lord of the Rings although I sort of liked the second one.
Gangs of New York
City of God - I think this is just because mt friend hyped it too much before I saw it.

I hope so, it is a truly brilliant film.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Really?! I only watched it for the first time recently and I though it was a brilliant film.

Some amazing films listed within here that some of you don't like. Memento, Inception, Donnie Darko and Blade Runner are some of the most surprising ones.

As for me, The Harry Potter films and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Rubbish. Never been able to get into any of the Star Wars films either.

Scarface was pretty rubbish and boring until the final act too.

Shocked at some of the choices on here. Pulp Fiction? Really? It's a masterpiece.

The one that sprung to mind for me was Vertigo. I love most of Hitchcock's work, but this is the one I didn't like, and its considered by many to be his best.

Well that is what the thread is about. I agree though films like Pulp fiction and Scarface are some of my all time favourites.

I didn't like City of God either. Was really irritated by it's flashy over the top style. I preferred The Constant Gardener which many more seemed to hate.

The Incredibles - It's charming colourful design belies It's murky, unpleasant Ayn Rand view of the world.
Life is Beautiful - The tone is as ill judged as Benigni's Oscar celebration.
Spellbound - So much talent involved so much junk produced. A Karl Popper nightmare.
Kieslowski's Blue and White - 100% on RT beat that!
All About My Mother - Almadovar's sycophantic depiction of women makes me nauseated.

I haven't seen the following movies/franchises because I always thought they must be boring or not really attracted me to watch them till now.

Lord of the Rings
Matrix
Pirates of the Carribean
Harry Potter ( just seen 1 part)
Gangs of New York
Avatar
Star Wars
Indiana Jones
Shrek

Have seen bits and parts of some when on TV.

Glad to see plenty of hate for Pulp Fiction, there is something about Tarrantino films that makes me want to throw faeces at the screen.

I'd agree with that some of films are like that for me. Kill Bill for example I hate. Pulp Fiction was one that I enjoyed though.

wait wait....

you know people who actually LIKE Dude Wheres My Car?

Quite the achievement.

Breakfast at Tiffany's. Alright, Hepburn was a looker and Mancini's music was great, but there's not much else going for this film. Great bit of racist stereotype comedy in there too.
