:lol: I have a few options still and an icon opens that up. Fernandinho for fred and an icon in attack maybe, or Gerrard in as a CAM im also tempted by. He looks like he has it all, Hagi looks great too but im worried about his strength.

Will play a variety of formations all assigned to diff custom tactics but these are the XI.



@Igor Drefljak - Thats a good team, which of your front 4 are you playing at striker? 4231?

I've got Griezmann as the striker.
Not really getting the ball to him that much really, but one thing I'm happy with is I score from all 4.

Had a few games just now, feck me, they didn't want me to win. Every 50/50 ball went to them.
It's weird, some people just seem to have a knack of winning every 50/50 and any mistake they make, misplaced pass etc, that comes to me bounces right back off me.
Hate them sort of games

I had that all day too along with kick off goals. I was watching the pro's and apparently holding R2 or whatever the xbox equivalent (sprint) is when going into a tackle pretty much guarantees the ball wll bounce away or something, haven't had a chance to test but I'm going to use WL to learn to manually defend better. If I get silver 3 I don't care, want to learn this and stop it from happening.
 
Just did the Reus sbc. Hes amazing. Every pass created a chance and most shots go inside

The only problem is that the wingers from bundesliga arent very good. I use a 4231 and blue coman and pulisic are fast but theyre not very refined passing or shooting the ball. Maybe ill try a new formation

I had the same thing happening yesterday, it was ridiculous and even more annoying yesterday trying to switch defender and it would always go to the wrong one and even worse they’d do a weird step in the opposite way they were heading or just stop for a second.
I really need to get better at defending.

Don't get me fecking started on switching players. It is literally never the person you'd want it to be. Running at your back 4? Time to switch to your striker down the pitch!?

86 rated Felipe Anderson probably incoming, should have invested in his one to watch. Will be a great card, so many good prem left wings.
 
Is anyone else having problems with servers disconnecting? I lost another two games due to it on Squad Battles. The last game cut off in the first half but didn't give me a loss, then I played it again and the same thing happened but this time it gave me a loss. Four 0-3 defeats in the last 12 games.

Yeah, all servers except Fut Champs seem to be crappy, I've had no issues in FC but the young fella got booted out of squad battles 3 times.

Might have to renew my PS+ and try to grind enough points for FUT Champs. Are the servers for Division Rivals as bad as Squad Battles?

I haven't got booted but they are a fair bit slower and laggier. It's a slog.

Sold most of mine a couple of weeks ago and just playing with basically two teams worth around 60k combined. Have 1.75m in the bank, but I'm gonna spank all of that on a giggs/scholes/Keane trio or the middle version of Best. Hes been around 1.3-1.45m the last few weeks so hoping he drops to below 1.2m if not more.

Defending great and in general good play
Ended the night 10/6

Probably should have put the game down a few games earlier than I did, but the last two guys I faced, absolute jokes.
Anything they hit went in, every goal, absolutely ridiculous. Probably timed shots, but it was every time.

Second to last game, was one of the most depressing ever.
I lost 7-0, all shots coming outside the box. Press. He did it, even his keeper. Whenever I got inside the box he'd send his keeper out. I literally had no place to pass apart from defence but wasn't going to get me anywhere.

Lost 6-2, thing is he wasn't even that great, just every shot he took almost knocked my keeper through the net.
 
@Igor Drefljak - Should have done the same though it hasn't fallen apart as much as last weekend, 11-7 at the end of the day for me. Intended to play 5 sessions of 6 games over the next days but played 5 this morning and 13 just now which I think it why I went to pot a bit.

@P-Nut0712 - Played one player with more than one icon (he had 4) and he was the only easy game I had all day. He had Henry, Rio, Figo and Gullit. Outside of that he had Messi, Neymar and subbed on CR7, his team was stupidly set up though, Messi, Neymar and Gullit in midfield, Henry, Figo and CR7 up front. Couldn't play for shit though, Think I beat him 6-1 or something. Every other game has been competitive bar a couple of whoopings I got off Serie A sides. Mertens tends to murder me.

Yeah I've had loads were they've been the easiest game of the lot, however this one was just a nightmare. Pele and R9 we're scoring screamers for fun.
 
Bugger just bid on Fernandinho and noticed his card is bloody st, why would someone do that?! Only thing with the game that annoys me is when it buffers and then suddenly speeds up stupidly, ended up conceding as a result of it earlier.

EDIT: Just been outbid yes, never been so happy to be outbid :D.

Reason is so you can get good chem with players from different leagues.
I have Griezmaan as a CDM, but in game he plays striker.

Haha, yeah icons are a weird one for me. Obviously that team is a bit different, but if I come up against a guy with a single attacking icon, I can be almost sure the fecker will just try and do it all with him.
Del Piero today, everything went, well tried to go through him.

10/2 for the day though. Gold 1, really happy with that.
2 games left, currently on par with top 100, 1 win would put my 57th (PC), but I can't see 22 being enough so probably won't play them anyway

Nice, I think it's about 26/27 on the Xbox so I'm never getting anywhere near it as I'm struggling to hit 20

Yeah I thought I peaked at 17 wins last week, so was really happy to get this.
Last week it was 25wins on PC, so yeah, I'd also think I'd struggle to get top 100 :lol:

Yeah when 2 players are close on skill and someone has a team full of icons they will in the end get every lucky break.
 
Coming from just playing career mode I’ve had to really adjust how I play. I have been struggiling in rivals and just losing to stupid goals but have to say it seems so much easier to score than it used to. Basically any clear sight of goal or within the 18 yarder and you seem to score.
Smashing the computer 13-0 on professional level in SBC then getting ran all over the shop on rival mode with people just taking pop shots from everywhere that always seem to find their way in to the back of my net.:wenger:

I came across a guy who had 4 legends then Neymar, Messi and Ronaldo also in his team. Hurt me bad.

Learning to defend vs real players vs AI attack takes awhile and is probably the biggest challenge.
In general the AI is better defensively than the average player (on legendary mode) but the average player is much better attacking wise than the AI.

I'd recommend going up a level in Squad Battles as you only get points for 5 goals, Try world class and once you are consistently beating WC 5-0, move to legendary. Once you can defend the cheese that comes on legendary you'll defend vs the average player handy enough.

Couple of general tips on defending vs human players.
1 - use a high press,
2 - never select a member of you back 4 on. Do all your defending with you CM or like me (with your CAM/wingers) and let your back 5 or 6 defend themselves.
3 - When tracking back try and see which player you CB is going to press or track the run of and cover the opposite, so if the CB goes to track the runner, you go to the ball carrier, if it looks like the CB is going to press the man with the ball you get to the runner.
4 - Attacking wise, just spam timed finesse shots from the top of the box, and if you think defenders are in your way, kick the ball off them and spam near post corners.

Thanks for the tips. Defending is probably the real art form, I worked out what you were just saying about not selecting your defenders today as that was my main issue, I kept selecting one and as soon as I did that, with the delay on it,my shape was gone and there was a massive gap. It feels a little like cheating.

Was sort of doing the same thing with Kante and just letting him press whilst I closed in with someone else to steal the ball back.

Attacking wise pretty basic 1-2’s sometimes working it for a 3rd runner and just changing the tempo of the passing from drilled balls to slow balls and finesse through balls seems to do the trick.
 
17 and 11 for the WL. Went to 15 and 8, then I had 3 games of pure EAid's, lost every 50/50, out-shot every opponent 2 to 1, hit the bar about 7 times and got completely fecked, soon as Gold 1 was no longer on the cards, games went back to normal, players stopped running in mud and I had two 5-1 wins back to back.
 
Its the Gotze sbc worth it? Since im not longer good at fifa it seems i may enjoy doing temporary sbcs and having rare cards in my squad. I love the Reus red card its by far my best player and gotze will go sweet with the green link over there
 
I am currently sitting at 17 wins with 3 games to remaining.

I just can’t face winning two and losing the final one which I have done for 2 weeks straight so think I may just avoid the stress.

Is anyone else finding icons disappointing? I've only used attackers so far but none of them have been anywhere near worth how much they cost. So far I've used Rivaldo (baby and middle), baby van Basten, baby Stoichkov, 87 Crespo and 90 Henry and they've all been outperformed by Salah :lol:

I just don't know how them games happen, like actually happen.
I find it's teams that ultra attack, they just always win the bounce.
Nothing worse than making a great tackle, for them to just somehow still come out with the ball.

As for the WL, I just wish I had 3 games so I at least had a chance for elite 3.
I had 2 games so wasn't even worth playing

Rio is a beast.

@Igor Drefljak - yeah, its horrid, everything just bounces away and there is nothing you can do. I conceded such a daft og with Rio where I won about 10 tackles in midfield and wing ball kept falling back to him, guy took a shot, hit Ederson in the head rolled down his body, fell to Rio, I'm helplessly bashing circle to clear, while Rio does nothing but jog over the line with the ball. My 12 year old was in knots laughing at the state of it for about 10 minutes.

Serie A users.. I will have around 200k to spend by end of week.. who is a player that you would highly recommend? ... iam torn between spending 100k on Radja or saving for 250kish for Dybala.
