Guessing you're on PS4? Only explanation I can possibly think that it may be slightly different than the Xbox which is gold 1 every single week with 2000 SP.
He seems to finish his WL games by saturday and that will definitely be the reason.
Not 100% sure how the matchmaking works but I'm pretty sure it matches you against people with a similar number of wins at the moment of your games. So if you're playing your 30th game on Saturday afternoon and you're 15-14 then you're gonna be coming up against people who have records like 15-2 or 16-3 etc who are aiming for elite. That's why it is always easier on the sunday. I can get to 14 wins with 0-2 losses even though I'm a gold one or elite 3 standard at a push.

Yeah I'd definitely agree with the matchmaking, however I've played all games on Friday/Saturday/Sunday in mammoth sittings before and still end on the exact same tier, so I'm not sure it has as much of an impact as people believe. I think a big part of the matchmaking is form based;
I usually make it to the last win needed for each division a breeze, then lose a couple before winning to move up a tier.

Would never have played all the games so its no issue he played a few to be fair otherwise I would have them games unplayed. I only squeezed the last 4 in because it was only 4, so no odds.
My team was sick man. I hyped Lacazette up in here before using him properly... he is the weak link. Finishing is unbelievable but that's all he has.
11-0, then my mate logged on to my account during my 12th game by accident, then I lost a bullshit game so I was at 13 or 14-2. Servers were down a lot on sat/sunday so couldn’t be arsed with playing half of the weekend league yesterday so finished on around 14-2.
I feel like I’m very close to reaching Elite 1. It would be amazing since I’d get FUT verified and get access to tournament qualifiers.
4411 is working incredibly well for me. I’m going to make a long post describing my tactics/how I play, hopefully some will find it useful. I genuinely believe that a lot of people on here can make elite by copying how I play.

Yeah that's why I was never gonna complete games. I usually play a lot Friday but couldn't. So just played as much as I could when I could and let him play too
Yeah I would be interested in that mate, give us a detailed post.
I was switching between 4231 and 41212 narrow at the weekend as usual. Having people like Mbappe 90 and CR7 in attack makes things so much better, compared to Arnautovic HL and Ramsey etc
Id like to give 4411 a try but i have 0 wingers, three untradeable CMs and 2 untradeable strikers (base Vieri and prime Owen). I guess i could save it as a preset and try it. Birthday Costa would slot into LM fine, but id have to play Owen at right mid, or bring POTM Lucas on. But id need to play prime Gullit behind Ibra or Vieri which forces Owen out wide.
I’ve been playing 4-4-1-1 recently and after switching to it I’ve reached a new level. This weekend I didn’t finish due to server issues, but last weekend I made 25 wins with 1 game left (one or two wins away from Elite 1). Considering that my team is worth ‘just’ 3.5 million (a lot lower than the average Elite teams) I think it’s worth sharing my formation/tactics/style because it’s the reason why I’m doing well and I think if any of you decide to copy it you’ll likely improve a lot.
Custom tactics/instructions below. The idea behind this is to exploit one of the wings. You should line up with a striker who’s good in the air as one of the wide mids and someone who is great at dribbling and passing/crossing on the other side. You also need your striker and your CF to be good in the air as well.
When you’re in possession you should avoid playing the ball to the side where you’ve got the striker-type of player out wide.
I’m playing Prime Crespo on the left. His first touch and passing is woeful so I always avoid building up attacks on the left. On the other side of the pitch you’ll need someone with great pace, dribbling, agility, balance, short passing and crossing. I’m playing Carniball Gomez there, he’s perfect. One of the better Sterling-cards would be great as well. Or Scream Koke if you have him, absolutely perfect.
Once you have the ball, always try to get it to your ‘creator’ and either dribble or play one-twos or whatever until you have the ball with him out wide in or around the final third. It’s very easy to get high up in the pitch out on the wings, a lot easier than trying to force your way through the middle.
Now, this is when the magic happens. It’s so easy to create chance after chance when you get into this position with your ‘creator’.
Option 1: Assuming you have three great headers approaching the box, you can choose to cross. 99% of people don’t know how to cross properly so I’m going to tell you how to score on crosses (I average maybe one goal a game from crossing in the WL)
-Turn your player towards the box instead of whipping in a cross with a 90 degree angle. He should face more or less towards the direction you’re crossing.
-Hold L1 or LB and then cross.
Result: A very slow, high and accurate cross towards either your striker, CF or LM. I’ve got Flashback Zlatan, CR7 and Prime Crespo as these three players.
Option 2: Pass the ball inside. When you’re out wide, the opposition will be dragged out to your side which opens up space in the middle, specifically outside or around the edge of the box. A simple pass from your creator inside to either a midfielders or one of the central attackers. Now you should have the ball in a relatively dangerous area with quite a bit of space. Then, you have a few options:
-dribble and shoot
-pass and shoot
-pass a few times before shooting
It has to be quick. Basically just get the ball as fast as possible to whichever of your CF/ST/LM is in the best shooting position (or dribble with one of these three or a midfielder into a shooting position).
Now, when you receive the ball in a good position, shoot immediately and do not take a touch before shooting! First time normal shots is by far the most reliable shot in my opinion. Always aim for the side of the goal that your player is faced towards the most.
Below are a few illustrations from the passing option to give you the general idea:
Players you should use:
(You need to play with a high line so all defenders have to be very fast!)
Fullback on the same side as the creator:
Someone who’s good on the ball. (I’m using IF Semedo. He has med/high and is good on the ball)
Other fullback: someone who is as good defensively as possible. Base Maldini (I’m using him) is perfect, he has med/high workrates. You’re literally only going to pass the ball to a center back or a midfielder when you’re in possession with him so it doesn’t have to be a technical player.
CB: no need to have players who are good at passing/dribbling. I’m playing mid Campbell and UCL Moments Manolas. You should only use them to pass easy short passes towards the direction of your creator. Nothing fancy.
CM on the same side as your creator:
Up to you, but he’s playing in a two man midfield so he has to be an all rounder. Shooting isn’t very necessary though. I’m playing UCL Moments Florenzi. Agility/dribbling is quite important. He’s essential in getting the ball to your creator.
Other CM: same as above, only more defensive. I’m playing Flashback De Rossi
Creator (either LM or RM): arguably your most important player. He needs pace, dribbling, agility, balance, short passing and crossing. I’m using Carniball Gomez.
Other wide mid: Aerial ability and shooting is essential. Pace/dribbling is good to have too. I’m playing with Prime Crespo there.
ST: he’s on false 9 so he’s actually more like a CAM. I’m using Flashback Zlatan. Shooting, aerial ability, dribbling and passing is very important. Probably the hardest role to fill.
CF: Your striker. He’s the one that’s easiest to play into shooting position. He needs shooting and aerial ability. I’m using CR7.
Note: You can't play with a deep line with this formation. If you want to play with a deep line you should use 4231 which has 2 CDMs.
Press when the opponent takes a bad touch or whatever it’s called in english

7 or 8 depth (play with 8 if your defenders are crazy fast)
Balanced
6 width
3 players in box
Fullbacks on stay back and the opposite of aggressive interceptions which I don’t know what’s called in english. Conservative?
CM on the ‘creator’ side on balanced attack, cover middle, avoid getting into the box for crosses. (If he has above 95 stamina you could have him on aggressive interceptions)
Other CM: stay back, cover middle, avoid getting into the box for crosses.
Creator: get in behind, avoid getting into the box for crosses
Other wide mid: get in behind, cut inside, get into the box for crosses
CF: stay central, get in behind, stay in attack
ST: stay central, false 9

I uploaded a game playing like this if anyone wants to see how it works out.

Thanks Macern. As you know though I would need to completely change my game for that to happen. Issue with that is, I only have space for 1 player. I do like the idea though, so may be willing to try it in rivals. My team is this:

Maybe base Gullit instead of Ibra? Ibra is good, but not irreplaceable. Having a small wide player on the opposite side of your creator will be the main issue though, as murphy’s law will ensure that all of your crosses end up at that player.

Thats kind of what i do anyway, i stretch the game then abuse the middle! I could bench willian and try Crespo +1. Any ideas who i could try that isnt crazy money
I’m on 2000 skill rating and finish on 20 wins this week with a team about as good as yours.
How many games do you quit? I find quitting, especially early on in games, doesn’t effect the matchmaking and you face similar level opponents. I never quit in WL anymore, if I’m getting hammered I put the controller upside down so I’m always moving that way it doesn’t auto quit and let the game play out.
I know not everybody has enough time during the weekend to play all 30 in full without quitting so it might not be possible for you. I’m lucky I share an account with my brother so I typically only have to play 20 or so games.

Hmm yeh i know but from corners I score more then you’d expect with Owen so i wondered if i could still blag it, got Ibra on the bench but he’d be shit as right winger?

Cheers! If I were you I’d first try it out with this:
R9 on the left, Neymar on the right as the ‘creator’, CR7 as the CF, Gullit as ST on false 9
I’d use Cruyff as the CM on Neymar’s side. It’s not optimal, but you’d be able to try it out without changing your team. If you like it I’d sell Cruyff and get a more suitable CM to replace him.
Thats kind of what i do anyway, i stretch the game then abuse the middle! I could bench willian and try Crespo +1. Any ideas who i could try that isnt crazy money
Gullit as the ST on false 9, Vieri as the CF, Costa as the creator and Owen on the other side only if he’s actually good in the air, if not then crossing wouldn’t be as effective. I’d probably replace Vieri or Owen with Zlatan. Zlatan would probably work very well out wide, you won’t use him in build-up anyway if you follow my tactics.
Really happy to see you guys considering trying out the tactics. I was playing 3 at the back until around xmas when the game was patched and it stopped working for me, so I spent 3-4 months until around March/April testing out a thousand different ideas where nothing worked for me until I stumbled upon this 4411 setup. So much frustration, so much effort trying to find something that worked very well for me that would compensate for the difference in team value between my team and other Elite teams. It’s a very ‘firm’ way of playing FIFA where nothing in the build-up is left to chance. It’s so simple yet highly effective if you’ve got the right players. I’ve now tried it out for around a month to make sure that it is consistent while also making small adjustments trying to perfect it.
Right, you don’t have Crespo. Hm, a good wide midfielder that you don’t use in the build-up shouldn’t be that hard to find. You could actually use IF Kane there, or someone like FS Cutrone/Carniball Williams
As for the false 9, maybe 88 Perisic? Or even 86 Dabbur.

I could probaby use pogba to be fair i have his 90 rated red pick. I could get crespo this week, if this idea isnt for me i could easily use him anyway as im not feeling lacazette

Ok will try it out though I doubt it’ll work that well for me. I think playing deep-ish with 4231 (which is one of the most defensive formations imo) works well if you have a very expensive team and can rely on TOTY-level players rather than specific tactics to score you a lot of goals consistently.
I’ll give it a go anyway, you never know. I never thought 4411 would work out that well for me.

Yeah it looks quite balanced overall. I tend to rely on high pressure with a very high line to force all the action on my opponents half, but I guess it could work for me with the fullbacks pushing up occationally.
I've not had much chance to use them in weekend league after getting married this weekend, but the few games I played to kill time before it were hilarious. 5 or 6 rage quits in a row inside 20 mins. Also not lost a game of div rivals since switching.
Had a player sent off in the 2nd minute for pressing square immediately after being tackled on the ball, thinking i still had a chance to cross the loose ball but i took him out instead.
Fast forward and this happens nearly 90 minutes later still chasing the equaliser.
I mean, what does the striker expect is going to happen if he steps over the ball? Would anyone in that situation not think that taking a touch would probably be a better idea?
