Gaming FIFA 17

Oh right. Might leave it then. It's either that or get my ultimate team up and running ahead of time.

I don't know whether to get a head start in ultimate team, or just play through the career. Suppose I can do the career anytime really. Can only get a head start in ultimate team once.

Yep that's my thinking. There will be minimal people to play early on though but I'm off all that week and the 10 hours would disappear in no time.

Anyone know if it's 10 hours with the game open or 10 hours of actual game play?

It's just 10 days this time round isn't it?

Edit: Nope, 10 hours again...

Just played a few matches and I don't like it at all. In fact it feels just awful to me. I'll have to check out the PES demo and hope that's a bit closer to actual football than this mess.

It's so much more fluid and smoother than FIFA 16, it feels weird. The new engine/animations seem to have made the dribbling a lot better. The game is faster too. Not sure about the passing and shooting yet though, need to play a bit more.

Only played 1 game and the short Be A Pro part with Alex Hunter but i don´t see a big difference to Fifa 16. That said... i haven´t played Fifa 16 for quite some time so i could remember it wrongly. The only small differences i felt were that the passing was a bit better and more fluent, and the movement of your players (making runs, showing up for passes).

Still i´m quite hyped for "The Journey" with Alex Hunter. Always wanted that kind of story/game mode in Fifa after playing NBA2k games.

When I first started downloading it was at 19 hours to complete  Down to a sensible duration now.

The PES demo was brilliant IMO. The actual game is getting great reviews too, the general consensus seems to be its up there with the best the series has to offer and one if the best football games made full stop.

The game is shite right now, but I expect it to grow on me the more I play it.

The alternative is pes and even though the demo was not that bad, the full game will lack the content. As such, it seems I will stick with Fifa again this year. Hopefully, this game get horrible reviews, so they can improve upon the next title.

Think the passing and shooting feels a lot crisper and better, though probably a bit too accurate. Also like the general look of the pitch and players on it, seems better proportioned or something even if it's probably only a tiny change.

I love the shooting on the PES demo. Struggling to get into it though with being used to FIFA controls. I know you can change them but I'm far too lazy for that.

Biggest gripe with the PES demo is the little freeze for a few seconds whenever you skip a cut scene. Minor, I know.

I thought for a second in the Journey demo we were going to get some of that sweet sweet Wayne Rooney acting, I think id buy the game just for that.

Another thing I detest is the amount of generic face in the game. I played with Gamba Osaka and all the players looks like hand made golems. It does not take much to improve upon this and once completed it will at least give it a more realistic feel. At least allow the option for the community to mods these players.

Nevertheless, I am not surprised that I have already gotten used to the gameplay mechanism in the short amount of time I have played it on legendary. The pace should be faster, but I guess I could tweak that in game settings. Moreover, some of the player and especially the goalkeeper animation is questionable. I do not feel any sense of euphoria scoring a goal or making a great play yet, as I did in the pes demo. It will certainly take a while for this to grow on me

Does the journey mode give you options as to positions or not?

From what I read before, it seems you are locked as striker. Perhaps, they will tweak it next year so we could play in other position.

I echo the sentiments. It feels weirdly good, for a change

You can be a striker and at the age of 30 make it impossible to be dropped so your managers throw you around midfield and other positions just because you can't be dropped.

Yeah, I don't know if I can act like a big baby for 8 years though.

Demo always feels decent.

It's when EA start releasing patches every month that the game starts to feck up.

Demo is great, better than Fifa 16. As people said, passing and shooting better. Corners are better too. Penalties are different and a bit weird, but need to get used to it.

It is much smoother and as someone said, the proportions are much better and it feels like speed has not a huge effect in the game, or much less than previously from the few games i played against my brother.

Chlesea are very good, win a lot of balls and not easy to break down. I like United too, pretty good balance and very competitive.

Such a inferior single player experience in comparison to PES. Playing against the A.I really is soul destroying. I do like the shooting though , feels more unpredictable than before.

If it wasn't for Pro Clubs I wouldn't go near this. So don't worry fellow team members.

Demo feels good. Passing and shooting are completely new and fee much better than the atrocity in 16. Presentation is absolutely immense.

10 hours with the game open

Speed was irrelevant in FIFA 16. It's definitely more important now, but not as much as in FIFA 12 for instance

Only played 1 game so not enough to judge properly - but in the 1 game I played I only had 30% possession - I just couldn't get the ball off them which reminded me of Fifa 16 where every single team passes the ball like they are Barcelona.

Also felt like the quickest players still don't show their speed properly - slow defenders can keep the pace with them

I do like the unpredictability of PES - it feel more like a real game of football where the AI can make mistakes.

Have they stopped the annoying dodgy touches and loose passes by players in 17? I respect them trying different things but that was a complete failure in my eyes.

played about 5 games last night and two of the Journey demo's but it's enough to tell me I won't be getting it this year, movement feels sluggish and the passing has that heavy feel FIFA usually does. Games felt a little boring and different players still feel a little to much the same, they still have that 'fish eyes' look to them, as opposed to pro evo's fish mouth look when they open their gobs. My main gripe though is the defending system, I just don't find it intuitive at all. You're better off just trying to run across the players line to nick the ball off them rather than actually use the tackle button which only seemingly works when running head on towards each other and mistiming it just takes that player out of the game for that phase of play. On the plus side it looks absolutely gorgeous, much more like a real football match than Pro Evo and off the ball player movement has been improved on slightly. One thing I found funny though is Martin Tyler saying "De Bruyne" like a character from Allo Allo, once I heard it, it couldn't be unheard, cracked me up.

10 hours with the game open

Is it really? I played a shitload of pro ranked in defence to boost my tackling before making the move to midfield, played a but of offline career too, I even left the fifa open and went out or went to lunch - I didn't get locked out until the day before release.

Its shit you can do much less this year. I have zero interest in UT - I'll play the journey alright but not having access to pro clubs/ranked games is shit.

I've never liked Fifa's gameplay, but actually think the demo gameplay to Fifa 17 is decent.

Maybe they've just made it better for me and worse for everyone else

The limiting of pro clubs is definitely so you can't get a head start. I prefer it if I'm being totally honest. Can never complain about a level playing field.

By the time it downloaded I only had time to play one game.
I find playing against ai such a shite soulless experience anyway, far prefer playing online. But I didn't think there was much difference to last years in the one game I played. I'll give it another go later but hard to judge how it'll play against real people.

The games alright, not tried PES yet.

Why do the players look like Wax? figures in Madame Tussauds look more authentic.
