Currently don't have a team on UT but I've built up to 19k, is there any way I can build a half decent squad with that or is it not worth it?
Half decent, sure.
First one is a joke but I have no sympathy on the second - anyone who passes from a one on one situation deserves that, in my opinion!
Which league would you recommend basing my team on? On first glance Calcio A seems to pull up some good players for cheap.
Either Calcio or Bundesliga I think.

You could get all these a bit cheaper then this obviously especially if you bid and don't buy now, and there are plenty of options (like Musa up top in prem) but you can get a good enough team for around 20k.

So I finished gold 2 in my first weekend league. Pretty pleased overall as my team is pretty average compared to some I came up against.
Was doing really well until I hit the gold 3 and then started slowing down a bit, wow fitting in 40 games in 1 weekend is way too much. They definitely need to reduce it to 30.
Not sure I would want to do this every weekend

Of course the way it happened was quite comical. I am up 3-2 in a close game in ET. Then all of a sudden, I get a nosebleed(stupid dry air in my condo). Luckily, my mom is walking by so I tell her to fetch me a tissue. Of course, she gives me this massive paper that I need to hold with my hand. My concentration is slipping as I'm time wasting to get the win. I finally get a tissue paper and just stick it in my nose. Unfortunately, my focus has completely slipped. I am facing heavy pressure. I concede a corner. Then I concede the equalizer. Massive deflation. I just knew I'd lose in pens and I did.
So lesson learned. Just let your nose bleed out.

Meanwhile in the land of us peasants i went 7-13 in my last 20 games to barely scrape gold 2. I fecked up a 14-6 start, by the last few games i could barely string 2 passes together
Got my usual gold 2 with a few games to spare, and got into gold monthly which was my goal from this weekend. Played like 25 games today alone Awful. Barely had time the last 2 days and only had like 12 played before today. Whatever, happy enough with it. If I had 4 days to do this I feel like I'd be getting gold 1 consistently though. Far too often I stop caring or throw games away to just get some easy wins against shit players to get my gold 2.

More reliance on skill rating for top 100.
Extending the time is a much better decision.
40 games is too much for casual players though. You pretty much have to give up your weekend to get through it. Maximum they'd external drive to would be 1 more day which doesn't solve much
The game mode isn't catered towards casual players though.

40 games is a lot for a weekend. Could FIFA 18 perhaps spread the 40 games across the week possibly? That way we're not rushing in 20+ games in an evening?....And people who work weekends can participate.
It's a good solution. I'm sure there will be changes to FUT Champions in 18. Will be interesting to see what EA does.
40 games over a week would be much better. As it is the only way I can play all 40 games is if I have a free weekend. And there's no chance of me getting elite (or even gold) monthly because I never have 4 free weekends in a row.

Are you certain to get in forms at Gold 2? I know you get 50k and a few packs.

Thanks for the offer, my friend spotted me 15k last night, think I should just about have enough. I'm lucky to get anywhere near the figure I have, I started off by buying bordeaux 3rd kits and selling them for a profit.

No it doesn't matter. There are monthly rewards though for winning as many games as you can but there's only 1 WL left of this month so you wouldn't have got anything good anyway. Normally 67-97 wins gets you 3 untradable gold in forms from the current month, 98-120 gets you 12.
The red IFs he was talking about are the monthly rewards. You'll get 60,000 at the very least from gold 2 if you sell/discard everything you get in your packs.

I remember thinking that penalty was really soft, was it Walker who kinda swept Lukaku's legs from behind a little? Didn't actually look like you'd made any sort of tackle. I was on a bit of a run for about 8 or 9 games but it's swung the other way now. Nothing is going in for me now, I've had about 8 1v1 with the keeper in the last few games and all have been saved or wide. My players are also never first to a header, clearance or deflection whereas all the goals I have conceded have all come from them. Such a frustrating game
