Gaming FIFA 16

how are you supposed to muscle people off the ball without pressing O? as it just pulls shirt anda gives away freekick and end up with red card

just had 2 sent off in online divisions, 1st for above offence, 2nd was a tackle in opponents half, straight on, hard, got the ball, yet red card as it was last man

matchmaking seems to take forever, can only find games with 5 star teams and even that is taking 10 minutes

Did they change the gameplay? I played a couple of FUT games (PC) and they completely felt like all the games before. I had the impression that they really increased the passing speed and maybe that defenders cant catch up with attackers so easily any more.

There are loads of issues with it as said above. Opposition goalkeepers are ridiculously good, you can put full power on a shot and they'll catch it without even flinching - I've fixed the goalkeeping by lowering the CPU goalkeeping ability to 40 - they still make plenty of good saves but they parry the ball more and it generally seems a bit more realistic.

I'm playing on world class so what is most frustrating to me is how opposition players intercept so many of your passes. If you dare pass the ball forward their player will dart 15 yards from behind your player and take the ball without your's even attempting to move to collect your pass. This means very much having to wait for an opening and be very conservative with your build up play.

Through balls are fecked. They're actually impossible, anyone got any tricks on how to play a through ball on this game? They get swallowed up by a defender 90% of the time.

Aside from these issues though I love it. As annoying as it is that passing and chance creation is now really bloody hard, it makes for a much more realistic representation of an actual football game. The matches I play really feel like a game of football, as oppose to an arcade game like all previous FIFAs.

Unlike the last two versions, there is actually player growth in career mode. The new training thing is brilliant and allows you to improve your players on more specific stats. I love it as on 14 and 15 I could be three or four seasons into a career mode and still have a young player on the same stats as he was when I started - leaving me to get bored of it. What's the point if your players aren't going to improve? This time I'm seeing my players' stats get better every week.

Maybe I like it so much because it's the first game I've played on current gen consoles and I'm comparing it to 14 and 15 on the PS3, but it genuinely feels as though they're getting there and if they could improve the passing I couldn't find much to criticise.

I don't know what to think, to be honest FUT feels like FIFA 15 for me, don't really enjoy it but to be fair I'm also annoyed that the draft doesn't work and my coin total is messed up so could be that!

I've played a few games against a mate though (offline) and that was excellent. Really close games which is a lot of fun and a change from FIFA 15 where you could just run with a pacey guy and score pretty much all the time. I might stick to seasons this year instead of FUT. Although I must say, offline against the computer felt awful when I tried it. The CPU is just too good at keeping the ball that it sucks the fun away from the game unfortunately. I might give career mode a go but I won't bother if a team like Stoke or whatever has 65% possession and are playing some tiki-taka style football which was the case on FIFA 15.

EA have managed to make this game too realistic, whilst also being guilty of including some completely unrealistic features.

Some of these mechanisms have ensured that certain attributes some player's have are completely useless.

I mean, let's just throw speed out the window, because it's practically useless.Unless of of course you're playing against a team that has completely lost it's rhythm - which is another problem I have with the game, you can end up playing like Accrington Stanley after starting like Bayern Munich, even during a comeback, your players still act like you are being destroyed.

Don't get me started on the passing, i understand the need to encourage gamers to be more cautious and all,but some of these interceptions are just ridiculous.

EA have also managed to come up with the perfect method to get people to learn how to take/save penalties(but not actually learn anything, as most balls just go to the middle anyway), by awarding a penalty after every challenge in the box, I mean it's easier than just improving the whole system of penalty taking(which a lot of people still haven't even mastered) right?

Losing on this feels more like you are failing to implement the system to your game than actually being tactically outclassed.Which is strange because, you would think a game such as this would try to accommodate different styles, there used to be a time when you had to perfect this 'system' to actually effectively use Barca, they were a specialist team, now you have to use this 'system' for every team, even the likes of Accrington Stanley.

Division 5 should be fun....

I've ended up making adjustments to the sliders on world class, but it's sad it had to come to that. Wish it'd be an enjoyable game out of the box for once.

Basically I toned down the marking, so the A.I isn't on top of every pass I make now. Still not scoring a lot of goals, but finally creating more chances.

What have you put it down to? May do this myself. Could be a great game with tinkering to the sliders.

My problem with world class is how every team holds possession like Barca in 2011 basically. I can counter attack pretty easily but it's impossible to win a possession game against the AI on world class, no matter the opponent. Wish the AI would play differently depending on the team really. Like at Old Trafford, the majority of teams would park the bus and try to hit on the break, and only certain teams would try to play possession against big teams... It gets repetitive when every team plays the same way more or less.

When you play an offline game with someone, what is the default difficulty set to? Amateur, right?

I've not got a copy yet but my mate hates it. He got it a couple of days ago and is considering trading it in for Pro Evo, a game he stopped playing years ago in favour of fifa.

Having read some of the reviews, it tallies with what my mate said. Dribbling and pace are impossible as you get dispossessed as soon as a player comes near you, passing is hard as your teammates run away from the ball even when you have it set to possession football and the passing has a mind of its own. Shooting is hugely underpowered.

Fwiw, reviews are saying this edition of pro Evo is the best football/sports game ever.

Is there any truth in any of that? I've played the new fifa a few times and I just thought it was going to be a case of getting used to it, but my mate was pretty scathing about it. The reviews of Pro Evo have got me curious, though I generally find it too arcadey.

Too easy to buy youngsters on Career.

2nd season with Bradford, promoted to the Championship, and I've picked up Martin Odegaard, Patrick Roberts and Abdelhak Nouri, and Adam Armstrong, each for less than 1.5m.

What was your budget? Doing a Bristol City career and have an outside chance of promotion so far.

3m, but I won the pre-season tournament, and got an extra 2.5m, and another mil or so from sales.

Sitting in the playoffs, almost hope I drop off a bit though, another season of growth in the Championship would do my very young squad the world of good.

I hope I dont have to give up career mode on this because of the difference in Professional and WC. I played Fifa 15 on professional but it got too easy so I got bored. Having played A lot of games on the Fifa 16 demo on WC difficulty I realized that its too difficult. I lost most of my games winning the occasional game in a shootout, and never scoring more than a goal. I am thinking about starting a career with Accrington Stanley but if World Class is too difficult then it would be too boring being stuck in League 2. Wondering if I should continue playing on Professional which became too easy to play in Fifa 15.

Stick to professional for the mean time, they are different games.

I managed to sell Van Persie for 2000 coins last night after getting a bit sleepy on the sofa. Was trying to cancel the posting but someone did the "buy it now" and he was gone :(

I think I'm about done with Ultimate team already. Even in Division 10 everyone has some sort of superstar team and even if my ragtag bunch of scoundrels completely outplay them I'll lose because of an incredibly stupid chemistry or player quality related balls up. Just gave draft a go and with 20 shots to their 3 and 64% possession to their 36% I managed to lose 2-0; their keeper played the greatest game known to man whereas I managed to lose from Evra trying to clear a random long ball and instead missing and falling on his arse for their striker to appear on screen and run through. Oh and they got a 90th minute penalty.

Got FIFA 16 for PC. Formed a pro club called "RedCafe" just to see if anyone would join. PC online community is crap for this, wish I had a Xbone or PS4 instead.

Seems like the extra $10 for the deluxe edition was a waste of money. Got a single rare player from two premium gold packs this week. Jose Bosingwa

Opened the packs for this week. No gold rare player in both the packs. My pack luck has been rotten this year.

I cant seem to link up more than 3 passes without someone intercepting.

My friend was a possession play maniac, literally had 70 - 80% every match could not link up more than 5 - 10 passes, either due to an unforced error, or my defenders making interceptions automatically.

I think the game got pretty ruined for players who play a passing game.

Love how everyone is saying the game is ruined for various players

No, it's just a learning curve, learn to pass. I think it's more like football this time round, not sim like, but more realistic than previous years.

Does your friend always play as Barca/Bayern? How many teams do you know who have 70-80% possession every match? Players of Fifa just got used to abusing certain aspects of the game to appear good at it. Now they can't it's moan moan moan.EA will end up dumbing it down and making it simple to play again in a couple of weeks anyway then everyone will whinge about pace abuse and one touch ping passing.

Yeah, it's not a bad game at all. I'd like to combine the best of both worlds and create a hybrid of FIFA and PES but it's impossible, I didn't like PES when I first got it but after learning to play it I now prefer it to FIFA but that's not to say FIFA is a poor game - it's definitely a good one and it's much improved over last years abysmal post-update attempt (first build was good). I fully expect EA to bow down to 13-year old UT freaks and eventually dumb it down, as you say.

I'm dreading it tbh. Enjoying it so far.
