FIFA 12 XBOX 360 tournament

OK in the absence of an answer from Cling i'm stepping in for Neo to play Lizard.

I can get the game done pretty much whenever you're ready LL.
 
It will probably be a little late for me that.

I'm free all day up until the Arsenal game.
I'm free all day tomorrow until the United game.
I'm free all day Friday until about 6pm.
I'm free all day Saturday (excluding when footy is on)
I'm free all day Sunday (excluding when the footy is on)
 
Danieldinho (Juve) 3-0 Mr Anderson (CSKA)

I played well attacking wise first half, terrible defending :lol: In fairness dan's first goal was a lovely counter from a corner and good finish after a chipped through ball. My defence was too slow. I cant recall the 2nd goal for some reason, think del piero scored from close range. 3rd my RB was about to take control of the ball in his area, but he kinda froze as I hammered the pass buton, dan tackled me then layed it off and another lovely finish from outside the box. I missed an open goal almost just before HT, and Vagner Love made shit of 2 attempts in good enough area.

So 3-0 down at half time and really I got bossed 2nd half, my players just couldnt control it or hold onto it, but I defended much better and created feck all :D I basically gave up come 70th minute and fannied around with the ball :lol: All in all it was a well deserved win and best of look in the final mate!
 
Bump, I'm going out shortly but I'll be around tonight if I need to fulfil my fixture

I offered to come in and replace Danieldinho but it was seemingly impossible to organise a game with LL so I said he may well go on to the next round to play whoever it is... so that's where it's at.

Well danieldinho beat me so he is in the Final and I'm in the 3rd/4th place playoff. Smoares is in the other semifinal, awaiting the outcome of Neo vs LL for that match to go ahead. So the last remaining QF match is proving the sticking point.
 
It's been long enough and Danieldino is still keen.

I say Smores goes forward to play Danieldino, unless either of Neo/LL can get a decider in against Smores within a day or two. Otherwise, I think a bye for Smores is only fair.

Can we make a list of the players that were generally available to play then recruit some new faces and start a new tournament when this done? It's a shame that this petered out as it was great in the group stages.

I seem to have improved in the last month or so. I'd be happy with 4.5* or 5* teams

I was going to suggest something similar.

It's hard to be judgemental, as Luminous Lizard was reliable in group stages but has gone a bit missing since. Neo seems to be similar.

From your group:
Luminous Lizard, Liam147, RedMist99, UnitedBoy - were all good at that stage.

Group A was reliable. Neo, Dong, Danieldinho and cw1984.

My group was no problem - me, Mr Anderson, Sw33t, daleberto, barring daleberto being a newbie, but that didn't affect it much.

Foxy, RDCR07, VivaRonaldo7 had lots of games remaining in the group. The latter two appeared more difficult to track down, as Smores was reliable from that lot at keeping up and Foxy I can't comment on fully as he's a newbie, but he got his QF done quickly enough.

I don't mean to be too critical, it's tough to keep up sometimes and it's not for everyone. It was really several of us in the latter stages, which is odd. Maybe I could've done more to enforce things as well.

Feel free to correct any of the above if someone was always available or generally a bit of a shithouse.
 
It's a shame really, things started off really well. I'd be up for a new tourney anyways. We have learned alot from this one so next one can run smoother I reckon. As regards this one, Smoares should be granted a by to the final against dale just to get it over with.
 
League format next time, straight knockout or the same?

Given the minimal amount of games needed to be completed, it is a shame. To be fair, a league might get even more messy.
 
We'd have to see how much interest there is, a league format is probably too much work and possibly not enough interested to complete it. I think a few tourneys until interest builds up (if it does).
 
Who won the previous tournament? Apologies my xbox went bust and I couldn't get on which is why I gave my opponent a by.

I was thinking perhaps we could start a new tournament?

Champions League Last 16? Straight K.O away goals count. We will use all the teams that are currently in the champions league but perhaps we can add Utd and City in just to make it a little more exciting?

I liked the previous format of the league then a straight knock out but it was difficult getting all the games done asap. Perhaps a 2 leg tie might be simpler.

Once we have 16 players we'll have a random draw and start up.

The first leg's won't require extra time but just wondering can you change the game setting for the second leg to go to extra time/penos .
 
Not sure yet. I have alot of college work for the next week and a bit. If it hasnt started come Monday April 4th I'd be in.

I think the problem with the old tournament was we had 6 group stage games then 4 more games if you got to the final. Hopefully with this format, it might be a bit easier and quicker.
 
When you say use teams already in the CL, with the addition of Utd and Shitty, does this mean you get assigned a team, or pick teams from the CL but only use them once? Both have their flaws. e.g..: Someone could get shitted up with Apoel, and face Barca, Real, United etc.

Or if it's one team per-round, just use Barca, Real, United and City and there you have it.

I liked the 4.5 star format of old. Thought it was fair and worked well.

Entertaining final, deserved win by Danieldinho. I now hate Bilbao even more

Yes you get assigned a team (randomly)and go all the way with only that team .Utd and City didn't qualify but I thought we could put them two in the pot instead and get rid of Basel and Apoel perhaps.

I liked it too but the only concerns we had was we wern't able to get all the fixtures done quickly enough. I was in Group A and I believe ours was done the quickest in over a week?

My only issue with the format I've suggested now is people getting knocked out will only have 2 games. So perhaps we could have a similar format if people preferred that but have 3 games instead?

I want to keep people having the same team and not be able to change so what do people think?

Group stages with 3 games (6min halfs) then knock out stages 2 legs (6mins increasing with stage)

or

Straight knock out from Last 16. 2 legs 10min halfs.
 
We could go straight knock outs but have like a consolation rounds as well? Like the losers of round 16 go to the quarters of the consolation bracket, if you know what I mean. That way everyone would have a minimum of 4 games and it wouldn't take any more time than it does now?

10 minute halves seem to long as well, I say we do 6 for round of 16, 6 for quarters, 8 for semis and 10 for the final. Remember there are two legs for each stage apart from the final...
 
Well done Danieldinho. Knew he was a good player from the games we had. Not surprised he went on and won it..... eventually.
