Well, he is just being honest, we would all prefer to be in the CL.

He was still making it clear that he will play a strong team and that would be a message to the team not to take the EL for granted.

But you could be right and it would have a negative effect on the team, i'm not sure.
Mourinho knows how to motivate his players though, we can't deny that. :)
I hope you're right mate, but I just have this nagging feeling now that we won't be looking to go all in for the EL even when it's really there for the taking for us. I didn't have this concern until I read Jose's comments today. Up until then, I was actually one of the more enthusiastic about our chances in the Europa with a second XI.

Gone for a complete line up change using most of those who have not had a run out or played very little. How many points I will get is an other thing

Gone for this, but who knows...

    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Smalling Rojo
    Herrera
    Fellaini Pogba
    Depay Rashford Martial
Fosu-Mensah, Mata and either Zlatan (if we're losing/drawing) or Carrick (if we're winning) to come on.

Valencia is out from what I read.

Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard have also been left out of the squad while Phil Jones has suffered lateral knee ligament damage which will keep him on the sidelines for a month.

Valencia, Shaw, Lingard, Mkhitaryan, Jones, Rooney all out

FFS, I missed the lineup prediction by two minutes. There will be a. Payload of changes, so I'll get skinned on the carryover lineup.

I'll take a hiding and claim a moral victory in the end like Brendan.

    Darmian - Smalling - Blind - Rojo

    --------------Pogba
    Mata--------------------Martial
    -------------Rashford

    Have gone for this.

Im actually really looking forward to the europa league this season. Cant see rooney or any oldies playing much in it so we'll likely see a lot of the youngsters or not guaranteed starters like rashford, martial, memphis, fosu mensah, herrera, even mata/Mkhitaryan. So theres a lot of potential for some great football there.

Possible. I think he'll get game time, just not sure if we'll see him off the bench or starting. If he starts then Rashford will be on the wing in place of Mata in my selection.

I like how deep our squad is, though. We can field two very good teams.

Might have been answered a few times... But why is this so early?

    Not complaining by the way

Zlatan seems like the guy who needs to, and can play almost every single game to maintain form and fitness. Not surprised if he starts

    Dave
    Darmian smalling bailly rojo
    Schneiderlin herrera Pogba
    Mata Rashford Martial

Pretty beastly 11 that. Mata to feed rashford and martial, pogba in his best role if hes on the left of a 3, smalling and bailly together. Cant see anything but united dominating here with that midfield

That tweet from United presents it as a 4-2-3-1 with Pogba in the #10 role.

Guess we won't know for sure until the lads line up for the warm up. I hope it is a 4-3-3. To my mind we'd be much better served playing 4-3-3 than any other formation.

Glad to see Smalling line up next to Bailly too. Interested to see how that partnership will perform.

9/11. Had Memphis instead of Pogba and Blind instead of Bailly. This is looking shit for Memphis.

Yeah. I recognise, especially after the Derby, it was always likely Tony Martial would come back in. Still, if Memphis can't get a game out wide in front of Mata then his United career is in trouble.

Also a bit surprised Memphis, young and carrick arent starting... doesnt bode too well for their game prospects if they dont start when we rotate everyone

I'm glad that Darmian has started.

    RIP Memphis. :(

    Blind being excluded is interesting...

Sexy midfield three. Herrera and Pogba should be able to press and get forward.

    9/11, not bad.

I actually wanted the midfield three that Jose picked, so doubly good.

Good line-up, I would have preferred TFM over Darmian but can't have everything I guess.

I hope it's 4-3-3, even if that means Mata in that floaty RW role.

fecking hell. That's the formation and probably even the CM combo I'd prefer to see. Superb! Rashford up top
