Fernando Alonso

the thing is... he aint better then hamilton. thats why he has to resort to these tactics. I think alonso's on his way out.

Agree, he's clearly rattled by Hamiltons arrival.

Everyone is hyping Hamilton up after what, 10 races? I will reserve judgment about Hamilton until he goes through some serious adversity in his racing career.

I wouldn't write off a double world champion after a tricky start to a season where he is still well in contention for a hat-trick of titles. That is hardly a minor feat.

Anyway the FIA changed the rules to stop teammates doing each other favours, a la Heikinnen's and Coulthard's 'gentleman's agreement' at Australia a few years back.

And now we are criticising Alonso for not doing his teammate any favours? Alonso is the senior driver after all, the team should be concentrating most of their efforts on his car this year

That's bullshit.

No one is asking him to do anyone any favours. He blatently held up Hamilton so as he couldn't complete his last lap, that is cheating/gamesmanship (whatever you wany to call it). The team should be concentrating on the driver heading the Championship, if anyone, and that is Lewis.

who's leading the championship?
how many F1 career races has Hamilton driven compared to Alonso?

:smirk:

So when Pompey were top of the league for a while last season, does that prove that they were better than United.

Funnily enough that's exactly right. I'm surprised people can't see it, but Portsmouth for me have always been the stronger team over United.

Exactly

Seeing as Hamilton hasn't won shit how do some people conclude that he is better than Alonso?

because he's clearly troubled by hamilton. if he was quicker then him he'd be light years ahead in the standings. look how he murdered fisichella and truli. no such luck with hamilton...

Anyway.

Hamilton looks like that kid 'Mika' from Heroes. Mika looks like the two brazillian twins we signed, Rafael and Fabio. And the twins look like Craig Charles, who in turn looks like Kieran Richardson.

So you are basically saying you want Richardson to win.

Yep, gamesmanship. Been going on for years. Schumacher did it throughout his career.

Hamilton has also being criticised for 'gamesmanship', overly aggressive driving, leading to comparisons with Schumacher no less.

Hamilton's driving, I agree, is overly aggressive. So maybe we are looking at two drivers who are doing everything to win the title, including bending the rules.

Exactly, he's got a fight on his hands here with Lewis and he doesn't like it, has to resort to cheating to get what he wants.

fecking pathetic, not the actions of a world champion for me, shades of Schumacher here.

Never did like the cnut and now I know why.

I bet this was planned to take the heat off the other problems.

A winning argument :smirk:

If I was a two-time world champion, the youngest world champion ever and I came to a new team only to be second in the pecking order behind a talented ROOKIE, I'd be troubled too. Hamilton is getting all this hype becaus he's English and Mclaren knows they will get more publicity and sponsors with an English champion than with a spanish one.

Anyway, this will probably work out better for Hamilton in the public eye.

Planned I tell you!

Alonso was a rookie once too, you gotta start somewhere. Anyway how do you know he is playing second fiddle here, maybe, just maybe Hamilton is actually the faster driver here.

hype??? nobody has even come close to achieving the amount of succes hamilton has had in his first year. not even senna or schumacher, not even remotely close... and nobody including ron dennis expected this.

i actually think it would be better for hamilton in the long term if he doesn't win this years championship. and i think he won't, alonso's been there and when it comes down to the wire his extra experience will help him through the pressure. but then again, i didn't think hamilton would be leading the f1 over half way through the season....

9 podiums in 10 races in his first year in F1 and that’s over hyped what the feck are you on I know the English media over hype young talents like Rooney, Andy Murray and Hamilton but that is not there fault is it.

he's getting far more coverage then alonso in holland too. and I expect in most places, even spain. everybody is raving about him. alonso must be going nuts.

Nope, it isn't Hamilton's fault that he is getting all this hype. The media does it to everyone with talent and promise in this country, making them seem like the Messiah. But I will reserve judgment about Hamilton until he goes through some adversity, fails to finish in a few races, goes off form, like Alonso has been this year.

You can tell Alonso isn't happy with playing second fiddle to a rookie, just as Raikonnen is unhappy with all the preferencial treatment Massa is getting, and it is affecting his driving. It has to.

We will see over the coming seasons whether Hamilton could be a great. He certainly has the talent. But I worry that he could be buying into his own hype, especially if his rookie season continues the way it has.

Alonso is not a patch on Schumi.

Agreed. Schumacher was the greatest driver of them all. Better than Fangio in my opinion.

I think Senna may of had something to say about that if he hadn't so sadly of been ended in his prime.

Absolutely right. I was gutted when he died, absolutely gutted. Especially I have always been a big Williams fan and was so excited when Senna signed for them

Senna vs Schumacher in both their primes. Now THAT I would pay to see.

It would of been amazing.

I am still gutted, as an F1 fan, that I never got to see that.

Yep, gamesmanship. Been going on for years. Schumacher did it throughout his career.

And why most of think of him as an utter cnut who helped turn F1 into the dullest sport in the known universe.

This goes back to Monaco. Lewis acted the prick back then.

That was old school today - and he still went quicker when he went out afterwards, and was cool as during the press conference. Those are the actions of a serious mover, and I have a sneaking regard for that kind of thing - as long as it doesn't get out of hand like it did with Senna.

Lewis has two options...cry about it, like most of the people in this thread, or shove it up the inside of Alonso at the first turn and say...'there you go you prick...feel the width of that'. Lewis has enough about him to do it as well, best first corner of the year, come on Lewis, get it done....Ron won't sleep a wink, and no one wants Kimi involved down at that turn either.

Brilliant.

Alonso is a Legend. If he did it on purpose, he taught that overhyped wannabe what it takes to be a winner. But I doubt it was intentional though. Because if he pisses off the team, they can delay his pit stops during the race as well to give Hamilton an advantage.

I really wonder how there can be a debate about what Alonso did.
He’s been a total prick.

The only argument that could at least slightly explain what he did is at #58.
