Jan is a shit time for buying in most cases anyway, so i'm not suprised. We should hold off till Summer and hopefully look to buy more then just 'value'. As long as we do that i'm happy. I don't expect Fergie to splash 30 million in Jan just to show supporters we have the money.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Rafael, Fabio, Cleverley, Smalling and Ober to replace Neville, Scholes, Da Laet and the one spare space in the squad next year. Can't see who else would be sold though.

When have we last signed a player for the first team in January though? I think it was Evra and Vidic in 2006, two great buys, and then Tosic in 2008 (or was it 2009?) but he never played. Last year we tied up a deal for Smalling in January but he came in July so it doesn't really count.

Agreed, we'd have to pay extra 20 per cent to get a player in January, I think we'll spend about £10m to £15m net next Summer and that's why Ferguson will be holding out until then to make signings.

We're not even interested in him, I think. There has been no rumours whatsoever and he's more than likely to go to a side like Hamburg or Juventus who usually do those free deals, we seldom try that for some reason.

Don't think we'll be making any big signings until some of the older players are off the wage bill (i.e. retired). We have a strict wage structure, so it's not feasible to add big signings (big wages) whilst we still have soon-to-retire big earners on the wage bill. Transfer activity in January will be minimal. Maybe an Obertan type signing.

Well they did. They drew with Villa, and then struggled in thier next two games.
I do make some shite posts yes, they're normally pent up emotions running over like when I said good on Rooney for citing lack of ambition as it might have good results. However I don't consistently do it, and I don't consistently criticise the players we have, whilst acting like every single played I've recommended has turned out great.

You say it was obvious like both of these players will turn into stars, and by constantly criticising our own players and bigging up those foreigners with expensive sounding names you're showing yourself up for a muppet. We don't need to constantly spend, and we don't need to get 3 new CMs in. To say so is just wrong. Why don't you spend less time worrying about who other teams have.

We do need some new players, maybe we can hold off until the summer but with the likes of Van der sar, Scholes, Giggs and Neville still playing an important role and also expected to retire in summer 2011 they do need to be replaced.

In case you didn't notice, we are swimming in a ocean of debt, I'd be surprised if we spent more than £10m net. Considering Scholes, Giggs, Nev, Hargreaves(I reckon he will) and Edwin would be retiring and thus not bringing any money into the coffers, I'd heavily doubt our ability/willingness to invest £60m-£100m in new player's plus the cost of wages which would maybe be more than what the above are earning now.
Exactly, besides we can use some youngsters to replace the departing players. Neville doesn't need a replacement for example because Rafael is easily good enough to play there, Giggs has already been replaced by Nani and Valencia on wings, and we have Park and Obertan to use as back-ups. Scholes won't be going anywhere this Summer and when he finally does, we will have the likes of Anderson and possibly Cleverley fully developed so that they may take his place. I'd say we only need to replace van der Sar out of that list because I don't trust Kuszczak enough, but then again we could buy a good enough goalkeeper for £5m if we decide to go for an experienced one again.
