Sorry if this has been already posted but :

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed he could make a single swoop in the transfer window to bolster his Manchester United resources.

The United boss stated last month that he would "definitely not" be dipping into the transfer market in January, insisting he was satisfied with his current line-up.

However, the Red Devils have recently been linked with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra, as well as Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson and Newcastle full-back Jose Enrique.

And Ferguson has performed a U-turn on his earlier comments by admitting United could make a solitary signing this month.

“I’d like to get one player in during the transfer window if I could,” he said. “I don’t see it happening really. Normally the player you really want you can’t get because clubs have their own criteria and priorities and also most of the players you’d like are involved in European football.

“We have done it in the past with Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Andy Cole and Louis Saha and they all worked reasonably well. But some deals done in January you don’t get the benefit until a year later like with Vidic and Evra — you face a lot of different things.

"Clubs have different training methods and when you have a player coming in mid-season into your club, and their training routine might be completely different to yours, you are trying to change them."

Just posted this in the Sunday Shiite thread but if true then lets hope it is a creative midfielder.

I don't think any one of us is surprised

I'd be more surprised if he actually found any value.

Agreed, he might just come out and say such things for it to look like he really tried but couldn't sign a player he wanted. Let him buy someone and then we'll talk, I'm nowhere near getting my cock out because of his declaration that he'd like to buy someone but feels it's very unlikely he will.

More than likely we'll sign someone then leave them at their current club til the summer.

If they do sign someone and allow them to stay at the club till summer, that ties in nicely with the Sotiris Ninis rumour.

It's been reported he will be staying with Udinese till the summer.

Just had a call from a friend who's girlfriends best friend slept with a guy who drives a taxi, the taxi driver apparently faired a women who is married to postman who himself has a sister whos moved to spain. The sisters kids go to the same school as this rich spainards kids whos father owns a holiday home kind of close to Ronaldo. While visiting the holiday home over christmas the caretaker told him he overheard Ronaldo say....."Manchester"

IT'S ON! :devil::drool:

True freeking story, honest!!!!!

i think it will be henderson as he is eligible for europe, not my choice though and we will end up having to pay over 10mill for him too.

I would rather a goalscoring creative midfielder to help unlock stubborn defences.

Sanchez would also be good

Eboue is on his way!

Seriously though, this is to be expected. People post the 'Fergie says no more signings' saying it's confirmed, stop wumming, no more signings then people go :nono: tut tut, you have to take what he says with a pinch of salt.

Maybe we'll get a quote from Fergie at the end of Jan saying he made a bid for Messi but he decided to say in Spain..

If there is any truth to this Qatar business, it might be best to try and get all our business done as soon as possible before the historic United tax quadruples.

Fergie's brilliant

Best WUM of the lot!
