Fellaini | Mou: "It's easier for Galatasaray to get me than Marouane. He is too important to me."

I don't see really why I would be happy with rooneys performances based on what I said earlier but carry on

There were plenty who wanted Rooney to stay, whilst it was obvious he wasn't good enough.

Feel it's the same with Fellaini. I don't think anyone is eager to see him in the starting line-up. We're in CL next season, do we really want to use him as fallback option in case of injury?

Personally think he is a scapegoat. Rooney has played poorly. Fellaini has had poor games last season and the season before - if a game doesn't suit him he doesn't look great. He is also had great games and the people that said he was championship level were nearly in tears afterwards. Most of his criticism is based around 3-4 moments of a game where he doesn't look like a tidy ball players, with no high level view of his performance. He could make 8-9 headed clearances from opposition corners and give away 3 fouls on the half way line and the match day thread would fill for 15 pages about how embarrassing he is. Meanwhile one of the best managers ever goes into his interview and says he's delighted with the performance, fans here are still convinced that, based on the average 1 hour they seem him play per week, that he is doing damage to the club and his inclusion this year will mean we 'can't win anything'.

There are degrees of hating fellaini, from people that want us to play sexy football (reasonable, but mourinho should be in the firing line just as much if this is the case, if not a lot lot more) to people that I personally feel are delusional in how they view their ability to analyse football

He's a squad player, particularly when Matic arrives. It's weird to me that so many are so keen for a squad player to leave.

Fellaini is a great option for us. I'm happy he's staying and think he should get a new contract rather than risk letting him leave for free.

Why on earth would people be happy to sell him for £10m in this market? Galatasaray were never going to be able to pay a fair market price for him, so let's not give him away.

Have you watched United over the past couple of years? He's started a tonne of games. He shouldn't be anywhere near the squad.

I can honestly say we've never had a player I've wanted the club to sell, sure there are some you wince when you see them in the starting XI in an important game/when there are 'better' players on the bench but even then those players still have a place in the squad

Strange people

For me the biggest problem is the "plan B". We mainly use him to close out games and lump it to him when we lack numbers forward. We should move away from that, especially with Matic and Lukaku in. Both can do the same but are obviously more useful at their respective positions.

He is a scrapegoat to an extend that I can't argue as his style is not particularly easy on the eye - hence easy to be hated. But generally in a lot of matches he's a passenger. As an utility player he has to adjust to the team game, rather than be used in a games that suit him.

He's not very young as well - will be 30 this year and unlikely to get better.

Great post!

I'm not understanding the "cut your nose off to spite your face" mentality from some here.

It's ok for you to think he can do a "job" here. Some don't.

But hoping he stays just to see some posters unhappy because they don't rate him is bloody weird.

Apart from that he's just awful to watch. His football style is unappealing, he's a cnut who throws elbows and he frequently gives away stupid fouls.

If he's not scoring a goal I'm not happy to see him.

Wishful thinking.

People seem to convince themselves of an awful lot with him.

Whatever helps them sleep at night I guess.

Take a look at our squad for 17/18. Who will he oust next season? Will it be Matic, Pogba or Herrera? His appearances numbers will get reduced unless we suffer some serious injury crisis. You know what for the 16/17 season he's already matched Rooney with both of them recording over 1500 minutes in the league, which was almost for the whole part the competition of highest importance for us as well as the most demanding one. I get that some of you Fellaini apologists emotionally react to years of often excessive abuse, but i feel you're losing the sense of perspective right here. The only thing that matters here is the well being of the team. not the irrelevant office-like sweepstakes.

Why would we sell him when Lindelof and Bailly are weak in the air? There's going to be times when we need him protecting those two.

To be fair it's mostly tongue in cheek.

I honestly don't think that any of us who wants him to stay actually thinks he should be a starter, in fact with Matic coming I can't see Felli starting that many games this season, but just having him in the squad is a tactical bonus for us.

The notion that Jose was going to sell Fellaini was absolutely fecking hilarious.

The sell would not had made sense tbh, we're short on options in midfield. Surely he will get a new contract now though.

If he was quality and improves our team I'd tolerate him tbh. Every team has some cnuts in it - say we brought in Suarez - he's a cnut of the highest order but will improve our team a lot.

Fellaini is the useless kind of cnuts tho.

i'm willing to bet some of the people celebrating him staying in this thread will be moaning in matchday threads when a game is 0-0 or we are trailing and he gets selected ahead of more creative and talented players, with the complimentary allardyce long ball football that will more likely fail us like it did several times before

Cant see how anyone that has any wish for us to return to the summit of Europe can bare to watch this idiot play for us, the only reason he should stay is a lack of options.

Please don't compare Fellaini with that racist thug Suarez. That's insulting.

Or when he comes on during an important game, with one job, and ends up giving away a pen

So after all our creative duds like Martial and Mkhitaryan fail to score?

Yep.

Guaranteed.

Offering £X0m Mourinho wants £X5m.

Using Fellaini in games where he can be effective is key this season, he can change a game for us when playing against the right opposition. However his downfall has been our lack in depth in midfield and us needing him to play in games where he is vulnerable. Hopefully the addition of Matic and the breakthrough of Mctominay can ease that burden on Mourinho and Fellaini.

The same thing is said every season.

He started the season ahead of Herrera and finished it with a good performance in the Europa league final.

People just want to delude themselves into thinking the end is nigh.

Yup in one of the threads someone said selling him would be better than signing a world class player. Small petty people.

Nothing wrong with wanting better players in so he doesn't start so much but the emotional reaction to him being or not being sold is hilarious

Sigh :( didn't expect to need to find a new manager 2 weeks before the season starts
