Would you have remembered that great Brazil team at first hand?

What made Socrates stand out compared to the other players of that amazing squad?
Well, well. My first real experience of watching the World Cup with some understanding was the 1978 final (since back then, my country only broadcast two matches--the opening game and the final). By 1982, I was older and more aware, so I got to learn more about the game. At that time, a tape of the Brazilian team was circulating(at that time, it wasn’t broadcast live all of them), and I had the chance to watch it.

I didn’t know Socrates yet (though I was already familiar with Zico), but he immediately stood out--tall, lanky, and commanding on the pitch. His playing style seemed effortless, yet elegant and technically refined, which caught my attention.

As I grew older, I learned that he was not only a footballer but also a qualified doctor, a columnist, and deeply engaged in politics and democracy. That only deepened my admiration for him, and he became one of my all-time favorite players.

I used to have definite 'favourites' but can't really think of any current ones. So I've really struggled with the first 2, especially #2. Whereas I've struggled to narrow down the list of options for the bottom two.

1. Bruno Fernandes
2. Luka Modric
3. Ryan Giggs
4. J.M. Guti
