Fave Albums of 2008

Hey, is there afrobeat? I must give them a listen.

Well dont expect to hear Fela Kuti or anything like that!
But there are definite afrobeat influences in their sound - maybe more 'afropop' - Paul Simon is always mentioned in their reviews and it is obvious why.

Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa

Yeah, I love Vampire Weekend.

I highly recommend Fleet Foxes. They're kind of beardy folk music, lots of intricate harmonies, kind of like the Beach Boys if they were lumberjacks.

Though I've never really listened to Fleet Foxes, I have a feeling people who like them should also check out Feathers. Maybe Espers as well. Unfortunately Feathers are so cool it's hard to find songs by them on YouTube (they had a Wiki page which was deleted because they turned out to be a "nonnotable band"), but there are some clips here. That record is a true gem.

I think I may hate you.

Well, cheers!

We agreed on one thing though: 2008 wasn't a great year for albums. Although I noticed Oasis on your list and that was distinctlively average, that album.

Thanks for the recs. I like Espers, haven't listened to Feathers yet.
